The King of Pentacles comes up for me in nearly every spread I do, whether it be for myself or someone else (usually a family member).

What I have learned about the STANDARD meaning of this card is:

The personality of the King of Pentacles is a combination of the positive earth energy of the Pentacles suit and the active, outward focus of a King. He might as well be called King Midas as he turns everything he touches to gold (riches of all kinds). He finds opportunity everywhere and succeeds at whatever he sets his mind to. He is enterprising and adept. Whatever the task, he handles it competently, drawing on his wide range of skills and practical knowledge. He's a jack-of-all-trades - and master of all as well. He is always dependable and responsible. Others rely on him completely because he never fails them. He gives generously of his time and resources because he knows that by giving more, you receive more. He encourages others in their accomplishments and lends his support whenever it is needed. He has a steady and even temperament that adds an element of stability to any situation. When he has set a goal for himself, he pursues it with firm resolve until he's successful.

In readings, the King of Pentacles asks you to take the kinds of actions he might take. For example: keeping a comittment, fixing something that's broken, making money, or sponsoring a new enterprise. This King can also represent a man or woman who is acting as he does, or an atmosphere of steady, reliable competence. In a reading, he tells you that his special energy has meaning for you at this time. Let yourself be inspired by this King in whatever form he appears in your life.

The interesting thing about this for me is that this describes my father to a "t"...and I would also view this card as his significator card.

This is what I have for this card:

The king holds a scepter to represent his power. In the other hand, he holds a pentacle. His robe is emblasoned with bunches of grapes and vine leaves; bulls' heads are depicted on the back and on the arms of his throne, and he is surrounded by flowers. His castle can be seen over his shoulder.

Choose this card for a black-haired, black-eyed man with swarthy skin.

Divinatory Meaning: This is a chief of industry, a banker or owner of large estates. He is a reliable married man and a mathematician with great financial gifts.

The card can also betoken a steady temperament, slow to anger; success where money matters are concerned and reliability.

Reversed: Stupidity. Perverse use of talents. Thriftless. Easy to bribe. Vice. Caution against association with gamblers and speculators. If crossed, he could be a dangerous man.

From the book "A Complete guide to the Tarot" By Eden Gray.

(PS I deleted the thread i started re: King of Pentacles)

I would say this card represents stablity, reliability and competence.

:)

The King of Pentacles represents someone you know (Male) who is an earth sign ...Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo...

Do you have a man in your life who's one of these signs?

It's a full grown man, usually over the age of 30...under 30, would be the Knight of Pentacles. Under the age of 13 or so, is the Page of Pentacles.

He's a money man, a man of business, a very stable individual whom you can depend on.

You would use this card in the beginning of a spread for an earth-sign man when you do his reading as well.

This is a wonderful card...and usually it's a wonderful man it's talking about.
Let us know who this could be in your life, please!

Cindy, that would be none other than my dear old Dad (He's a Pisces, though)! Dark hair, dark eyes, absolutely a jack-(and master)-of-all-trades, sweet lovable personality, and always very lucky in life. He taught me what unconditional love truly means. Loyal, stable, successful in business as well. Every time I see that card I think of him automatically :)

Mrs. Jones,

Your Daddy would be represented by the King of Cups using the system I was taught. The Kings, Queens, Knights and Pages all represent people as well as human traits.

Are you sure there is no earth sign man around you?

Especially since you say he always shows up in your readings...that card represents a man very important to you! Could it be someone from your past?

Also, are there any other cards that also show up around THIS card? Consistently. There is a story unfolding here, you can feel it.The cards are always influenced and embellished by those before and after them.

Another thought...do your readings have a lot of Pentacle cards in general?
When you have a preponderance of one suit, that means something, too.
In this case financial dealings and security issues...also job oriented.

Ellen once did a reading for someone who had ,if I remember correctly, almost ALL Pentacle cards. She almost scrapped the reading and started over because she thought it was flawed somehow, because she never had one like it before. But she just kept going, telling that person,"There's a lot of money here...no, I mean A LOT of money around you."

That person won the Lotto...millions...Ellen never heard from her again. :hmm: :(
