Why do we have a spiritual animal? Is it like a guardian angel? Is it merely one side of our personalities? Does the animal stay with us after life? Do we have both a spiritual animal AND a guardian angel?

If by "spiritual animal" you mean what's also referred to as an animal totem, then it's a long and varied subject, depending on culture. You might want to search at google on the words totem, shamanism, animal spirit guide, to get a basic education.
