View Full Version : Long Island seminar experience
Hi -
I attended a gallery-like seminar recently in Long Island. I was expecting to have a very nice, enlightening, warm experience because of the small size of the group as well as the comments of others that I have read here.
I don't know what happened but I was totally drained, rather than energized, by the end of the night. I knew from the minute I walked in the room that something seemed really off (and negative). Has anyone had a similar experience and what, if anything, did you attribute it to?
John made several comments about the readings, including someone from the other side who wouldn't use his symbols and someone else who was very persistent and dominated the first 30 minutes or more. I also wondered if I was impacted by the energy more because I was sitting very close to John.

I can't say that I've ever experienced a feeling of negativaty at one of John's seminars, but I can totally relate to feeling completely drained. Every seminar I attend, I walk out with a pounding headache and completely exhausted. It's all worth it, 110%, but I know what you mean by drained.
I have attributed this exhaustion to both the physical 'let down' after the adrenaline rush of the evening is coming to an end as well as being exposed to all that energy. When I sit close to John, I feel it even more intensely.
I also come out completely drained. The emotion of the people being read hit me hard. I also can't deal with huge crowds.
My mother in law who is a very spiritual lady, and who believes in John's abilities 100%, had a negative experience at a seminar in an Atlantic City casino. She was sitting next to some people who were total cynics. I can only imagine the Casino "comped" the people the tickets and they only went because they were free. They kept making rude, snide comments through the whole thing. Other people also reported some "tough" readings where people had "psychic amnesia". She came out saying she'd never go again. (which disappointed me in a huge way, because we discuss metaphysics and spirituality all the time.)
I've also read reports from people who attended the same seminar, and you would have thought they were on opposite ends of the universe; one reported the same "negative" energy in the air, and the other reported that the energy in the room was awesome and positive. I guess it's impossible to have no expectations, or the "right" expectations, because you never know what the audience make up will be.
Any chance your mother in law was at the AC seminar we attended almost 3 years ago and had our reading? We had a group of cynics sitting right behind us too, most likly comped by the casino, and they were making snide remarks during the seminar.
I hope having John read us right in front of them helped because they were silent after it. I've also noticed John no longer books casino theaters.
To be honest, I don't remember which one it was. I think Cindy was there (scrambled) did you see her then? If so, it might have been.
I think Cindy mentioned something to Carol on my behalf and I noticed they don't book casinos in AC anymore too. They probably noticed a difference too.
Yes Cindy was there, she met us before the seminar and was the one who took notes from our reading for us. Carol personally carried them over to us at the end.
Thanks doodledink and Pam for your comments. It helps me to know that you also experienced being very drained after a seminar. This was the second time I saw JE and the first time it was truly a magical evening and I really left feeling great. That time John had commented on the powerful and positive energy in the room and it just continued through all his readings that night.
I think you are right, Pam, and my lesson learned is not to have any expectations and just go for the experience of being there and continuing my own spiritual path. Your comment about the people sitting next to you is interesting because we found out later that we were sitting right next to someone who is a "repeat" attendee (7 times in Long Island) and so maybe that contributed to the energy drain.
This time I saw how hard John's job can be sometimes. I guess it's like any job - there are good days and not so good days. John made a comment also about having a cold and although the readings would go fine, that he would be really sick the next day. I'm sure it wasn't a fun night for him.
I also have been listening to his tapes a lot and I think I am becoming more open and sensitive to all energies around me. Next time I will make sure to encircle myself in the white light before I go. I don't want to avoid going again, but I do feel I need to have some psychic self-defense for protection. Does anyone have anything in particular that they do before or after seeing JE?
Many blessings,
Zelda6
Hi Zelda!
As soon as I've had my tea in the morning I say my prayers, do a chakra balancing, and encompass myself in golden white light. Even though I do this each and every day, I redo this before going into John's seminars. Just to be clear, I do this before I go into any public place, not just his seminars. I find this helpful, as I too experienced the incredible drain the first two times I saw him!
Just out of curiousity, why did you feel that the "repeat attendee" would contribute to the energy drain?
Love and light,
Karn

Hi Zelda !
I agree with Karn and highly recommend the chakra meditation and white light. I also add an energy bubble/balloon for protection any where and everywhere I go. Reinforce this throughout the day as necessary. Make sure you cleanse first though or you're keeping all you own negative junk in ! LOL I know this works....once while leaning over a table signing in at my son's school a woman passed behind me and said Oh excuse me. I looked around wondering what she was talking about, and she was looking confused. She said I know I bumped into you, but you're 2 feet away !
Now the energy at seminars are still noticeable, but as was stated earlier totally worth it !

Hi Karn and Barbara -
How do I go about doing a chakra balancing? IAnd how do I add a energy bubble? Is there info on the board or a web site? I think John may also have a chakra meditation on his tapes. Do you need to be able to see the colors of all the chakras in order for it to work? I know there are some that I don't see at all.
To explain - I meant that sometimes "repeat attendees" are still very much engaged in the grieving process and therefore may be draining. I certainly didn't mean to imply that all people who attend numerous times would be draining.
All info is appreciated as I am new at this and have a lot to learn!

Hey Zelda !
Yes John has several chakra meditations on his tapes. The stairs and elevator going to your psychic workplace go through you chakra's and clear them as part of the meditation. He also has antoher one where you walk through the archway of flowers. Same idea....different visualization. What I like about his meditations is that he incorporates cleansing and protection into all of them. The breathing at the beginning is cleansing, the chakra part is strengthening and balancing your aura, and the white light is clearing and protecting. So I feel comfortable saying to use any of those or something similar. As for me, I'm not the most patient person, plus I'm a busy mom/wife with a 9 yr. old and a 16 yr. old. Time is very valuable !! This is what I do in the morning...
In the shower, I do John's white light visualization using the actual water coming down. Then using a Tai Chi or Qi Gong move I bring my hands up to each chakra and visualize the swirling red, orange, yellow,green/pink, blue ndigo, purple, out through the top of my head into the white light. Then it swirls down on the outside cleansing all the gunk off of me.Repeat 3 times if there is time on the last time it goes down the drain. (I do this when I put conditioner in my hair) That times it about right ! LOL Take a deep breath and exhale sharply visualizing a balloon or energy bubble around you. Mine is usually blue, but some days it's different. I don't worry about that, I figure it will be whatever is necessary for the day.
I hope this makes sense to you, there are so many chakra meditations but they are all basically the same so just find something that works or combine several....like I did. I figure take the best from different meditations and make it your own. Like many women the shower is one of my only alone times so that's what works for me !

Hi Barbara and Zelda,
Last night I woke up in the middle of the night and my first thought was, you didn't explain to Zelda about cleansing before protection! So I couldn't help but laugh when I read your response Barbara, thanks for covering me, lol. I too like to do my daily ritual in the shower, not only is it quiet time, but I get a lot of messages in the shower. In speaking with others I hear the same from them, they feel very connected in the shower too.
Zelda, I think you bring up a good point about people that are still grieving, that could be a very draining force. And believe me, we all have a lot to learn, I've had God given abilities all my life, still I'm constantly going to seminars, workshops, and retreats. I look at the earth as a big classroom, and I'm going to get my full education!
Have a sparkling day!
Love and light,

hi all....after I read the first post here, it occured to me I usually am filled with energy when I leave John's seminars..The vibe was a little less to be desired in Akron, Ohio in May, but I still left feeling full and positive. I have to been to six seminars, and it is not just from grieving, or from that standpoint. It is such an enlightening experience meeting folks who share their path and stories, and John is an amazing teacher. It continues to draw me, though I have yet to hear my dear Mom pass across John's thoughts!
I just feel blessed to be here this time in history to cross Mr. Edward's path and knowledge..
peace and cleansings-----mindi
Hi Barbara and Karn -
Thank you both so much for the info on chakra balancing! My showers will never be the same. You also answered my question (unasked) Barbara about how long this takes to do. And when you talked about doing it with a tai chi/chi gung move that made an instant connection for me because I have been studying tai chi for many years. I actually know how to do this but relate to it more as working with the dan tiens. I have been trying to do the white light and also John's visualization of the gas tank going from empty to full in the shower as well as the white light during the day.
I am still wondering how effective the chakra balancing can be if I can't visualize the colors. In general, I do not "see" energies but "feel" them. There are some colors that do come easily though and I imagine the ones I don't see are somewhat blocked. Any more suggestions? Did you see all the colors when you started your chakra balancing?
Hope you sleep soundly tonight, Karn! I'm going back to work with John's tapes.

Hi again Zelda6 !
As far as the colors go..... I'm extremely visual so that hasn't been an issue for me, but since you feel/sense them I would just go with the feeling. When it feels like that area is full move up to the next chakra. Not being able to see the colors could be a blockage, but it could also be that you receive information in a different way. Everyone has a primary strength and then as you work with the other clairs they will develop stronger too. I wouldn't worry about it. If you can sense what the color is and know that it's full, I think you would get the same benefits as seeing. Have fun listening to John tonight !

I too was at the Long Island seminar. A couple sat with us after at Champions and talked about the seminar. Is that you? From Mass.? My husband and I are still talking about the readings and I get upset every time I think about it. I was so disappointed that I wasn't read. I know what John says about that, but I think its only natural to hope that your loved ones will come through; then to be disappointed that they don't. Part of my sadness though is that John said something that could have related to me and I didn't open my mouth. I wanted more before I would say something, but that was all he said. Now all I think about is what if?
This is the Seminar Tours forum and many of the posts are now going off topic and should be in the "Other Topics" forums which cover psychic subjects. Don't let anyone be upset if some of the posts in this and in a few other threads do get moved.
It's easy to get carried away and forget where you are posting. :)
Hi Gail!
When I do get off the subject, and I often do, is there a way to connect a response in a new thread, to this one? I'm thinking as a means of responding to someone, without being in the wrong place, but so they can still get/see the response, without limiting it to a personal email.
Love and light,
Karn
Hi Karn :)
You can just tell the person here that you want to respond and tell them to go to the "Other Topics" forum. Just start a new thread there under one of the many topics that seem appropriate. There are a lot to choose from and anyone who doesn't belong can join it.
How to join "Other Topics" (http://www.johnedwardtalk.org/showthread.php?t=11405&highlight=topics)
Thanks, Gail! I was wondering whether we should be discussing chakra balancing somewhere else. And thank you, Karn for asking how to do it. I guess it's because I'm a Gemini - always talking about 10 things at the same time.

Hi Karen -
No, I was not the person you talked to in NY. I hope your sadness is lifted somewhat by knowing that your loved ones are still with you. That is the message. And I can't believe when John asked for questions that I couldn't raise my hand and ask one! Of course, I have a zillion questions for John.
Many blessings,

Hi Zelda~
Which seminar did you attend on Long Island? It sounds very much like the one I experienced on June 26th. ~Mary~
Pam or others - Does anyone know why this thread doesn't show up on the "Latest Topics" list on the front page?
Mary -
I attended the one on Aug 26. Would you tell us about your seminar experience on June 26? What was similar?
