Sci Fi dream state may conjure series

NEW YORK (Variety) - The Sci Fi Channel, which struck Nielsen paydirt with John Edward's nightly tete-a-tetes with dead relatives of studio audiences, is looking for a couple of Edward clones who can transform people's lives by digging in to the real meaning of their dreams.
Called ``The Dream Project'' (working title), the series is now going through the testing stage at producer Stone Stanley Entertainment (``The Mole,'' ``Popstars'')..
``Dreams are a mirror into the soul,'' said Sharon Levy, VP of development for L.A.-based Stone Stanley. An effective dream analyst, she continued, ``can tell riveting stories'' derived from the strange scenarios conjured up in the dreams of studio-audience members.
In the next month, she said, Stone Stanley will decide on at least two co-hosts who'll do the on-air interpretations. The dream-analyst candidates, according to Levy, are coming from the ranks of psychoanalysts (both Freudian and Jungian), psychologists, lay therapists, spiritual imagists and even clairvoyants.
If Sci Fi decides to pick up the series, Levy said, the network is likely to pair it with ``Crossing Over With John Edward'' as a latenight tandem.
