Congrats on your forthcoming marriage Krissy. We just celebrated our 35th (anniversary that is!)

1. I live in Wisconsin
2. I am three times Krissy, but not twice Sassy:eek:
3. I like most foods but not mixed with peanut butter (teehee!)
4. Together we have five great children and six grandchildren and one great grandson (oui!)
5. I do not work outside the home yet but am thinking about it.
6. I, too, am Christian
7. I admire JE for his work and his dedication to his work. Few of us in this world know exactly what we are called to do. I believe he is one of the few that fully understands what he is supposed to be doing.
8. At the moment the only pet I have is my husband (he is groomed, fed and walked daily)
9. Perhaps the one thing I do not like is stupidity. One can be uninformed but that does not make them stupid. In my humble mind stupidity is the result of laziness.
10. Some of the most wonderful conversations I have ever had in my life were with senior citizens and pre-school children. Both groups have the most wonderful outlook on life.
11. My spiritual life is ever evolving and finding new things to add to my life of life surprises grows daily just from reading what is offered on this board and SpiritDiscovery.
12. I love reading, knitting, crocheting and making cards.
13. I sincerely enjoy quiet time just to think.
14. I find quiet solice at the beach, mostly low tide at sunset - no breeze, few clouds - hmmm, almost meditated on that sentence.
15. Gardening is a tough job but the results are pure pleasure.
16. I love to teach. Makes no difference what I teach - nothing special just the opportunity to share what I know.
17. I like Bach, Verdi and Bobby Vinton:D
18. I am very happy to be a part of this board. I have made new friends and I am very thankful for that.
19. I made my first batch of grape jam this week - not bad!!
20. You all think of the 20th one - I am out of think.....

Krissy, Sassy & Irishrose: I was just thinking a few days ago about how some of us long time members need to introduce ourselves to the newcomers. This is a great way,so I hope I can come up with 20 things.

12. I have been a student of metaphysics for almost 20 years, with reincarnation and past lives being my strongest interest when I started.

Hi Krissy, most people know a lot about me already but I'll do my list. :)

This is a great thread. I have been hoping to learn more about those who come here.. It is touch to catch up when you are a newbie! Thank you for starting this, krissy!

1.My name is Kathy

2. I live in S.W. Pa.

3. I am 49, and a Gemini

4. I have been a JE fan for about 18 months, since I first found him on tv.

5. Read his books Crossing over and One Last Time..Never saw John , would love to attend a seminar though! Or the gallery.

6. Took my first steps on my own spiritual path very young.. but began to stride firmly along when I was 12 and met up with an Edgar Cayce book.. ( The Sleeping Prophe by Jess Stern)

7. I was raised catholic, but do not consider myself Christian. I believe in a more.. hmm.. generic sort of One source, all life and living things are sacred type of thing. Not attached to any religion, but moreso to what I feel is true within them all. Buddism, Native American, Universal law sort of thing. I wish sometimes I could put a name on it. I have Faith, and feel that I follow a spritual path.. but is is uniquely my own. ( I meditate, smudge and follow the path I feel is right for me. Just following the guidance I receive from Spirit.. the Universe.. God.. all names for the same.. )

8. I am painfully shy on a personal level. I can be fine when I am anonymous, such as on the job or speaking at an event... but not walking into a room ful of people as just me.

9. I believe that lack of resect for all living things and greed is what is corrupting our society today. And I am beginning to fear it is gone beyond repair.

10. I have no real fear for my personal safety.. but fear poverty. I have been very very poor in the past. We live pay to pay now, but we have some small security.

11. I have been known to step in if I see someone else being threatened , human or animal.. and I tend to pick up hitchhikers ( don't tell my daughter)

12. I have 4 grown children, 3 sons and a daughter. I would give my life for any one of them at any time.

13. Married for 31 years, but.. .. well... happily is the last word I would use to describe it

14. I am a Reiki Master/pratitioner/teaching level. I have studied many alternative healing modalities such as Healing Touch, Theraputic Touch, Tellington Touch, herbalism, homeopathy, aromathereapy etc.

15. I was an office manager in an holist animal clinic for seven years. I am an animal advocate and do whatever I am able to help our four footed companions.. domestic and free. Five cats and a dog share my life and home. I now work for the local Aids Service Organization.

16. I would love to be a grandparent someday...My children are ages 25, 26, 28 and 30. No one is married no one has a child.

17. I use the name solana online to honor a wonderful woman I met at an holistic health fair in Albuqueque who set me on the healing path I walk today. Her name was Giva Solana, and she worked at the Light Institute with Chris Griscom. I have lost touch with her, and would love to find her again.

18. I think the internet is a gift. I have made some very special friends online, that are now friends offline as well. They have enriched my life in so many ways.

19. I have been an avid reader since age five, and I tend to collect books. I have well over three hunred on subjects of a spiritual nature.. everything from the Bible to the Rig Veda. Among these I include my books on healing modalites and certain other cultures, from Native American, to Celtic to Mayan etc.

20. I like Folk music and Irish Folk Music and miss people like Pete Seeger and Joan Baez etc. I also tend to like "oldies" and easy listening sort of music.. I use the so called " New Age" sort of music in my practice of Reiki .

20. I also love being a member of this forum and reading all the posts that I can relate to.

There, I did it!! I'm happy to meet everyone!

Hi Solana. It is nice hearing about the people. But something you said in your "bio" brought to mind a lady I have not thought about in years. You mentioned healing touch. Many moons ago, when I would have terrible headaches, there was a woman where I worked that would take me into the back room (very quiet back there) and just place her hands around my head. She would never actually touch me, but I could feel the warmth from her hands as if there was a heating element there! After just a few minutes, the pain was gone. She was wonderful, just wonderful. I was so upset when she moved, she was my healer.

Anyway, thanks for jogging my memory about her. It brings a smile to my face. She definitely had a talent.

Do you practice the healing touch?

:elvis:

solana
09-15-2002, 05:08 PM
I do, Gypsy. I incorprate that and theraputic touch and chakra work in with my reiki.
Gypsy.. honestly, we all have the ability to channel the healing energies from the universe .. I bet you can do this for yourself..

first.. center a bit.. surround yourself with .. prayer energy or positive energy, or however you feel most comfortable.. a healing light with the intention of protection has the same intention as prayer..

then you can do your own healing work.. so I believe and teach.
I believe that healing is much like any psychic work, and that we can all call on that energy and channel it.. but practice and training makes us makes us better at it.

If you place your own hands down on your head and ask for the energy to flow.. rather than setting my intention in too focused a way, I often ask for relief of the pain I am feeling.. or the client is feeling.. that way, it sort of tidies up odds and ends :)

Often too, I will ask for the help of those guides who will be most helpful with each specific treatment.

I tend to touch.. when working on physical pain, and work in the energy field when I am working on emotional or energy related pain..

I believe that touch itself is healing..

If you have any questions, I would be very happy to try to help :)

Solana, I have a problem with concentration. I can't seem to concentrate long without those nuisance thoughts coming into my head. I am having such a hard time trying to meditate. I know I probably don't give it enought time, I get very frustrated. I have had only one successful meditation.

I have ordered some books which I hope will help me. But I truly, truly believe in the healing touch. As I said before, I felt the warmth, the heat, emanating from her hands. It was great.

As other members have said, I think just watching and listening to John makes us really think about our own capabilities and I am on that journey right now. Unfortunately, my husband thinks it's all a bunch of you know what, so I really am on my own with this and have to just keep quiet about it. My close friends don't think too much about it either, so this board is wonderful for me, someone to talk to who truly believes there is more to life than the everyday drudgery!!

Anyway, I'm rambling again. Thanks for the help, Solana.

Hi Gypsy

I am going to do a little sharing here, hope you don't mind.

I, too, was having a lot of trouble concentrating and that is because I am also on my own. The problem was that I thought I was going to be interrupted at any minute and I don't like that.

As a result I could not concentrate.

Here is the good news. It makes no difference if you are interrupted. It has to do with discipline. One can immediately get back to where you left off. Of course all of this takes a little bit of time but it is worth the effort. Don't give up and allow yourself to work into yourself - never mind things that pop in and out of your mind. They don't fit and so they won't stay.

Good luck. By the way, do you have JE's tapes?

Thanks for the link IrishRose..

Actually I am registered there.. but I have been so busy lately, that I have been spendiing more time here....

I love that site as as well..and have so manyposts that I want to contribute to.. it is almost overwhelming LOL

But the AIDS walk was saturday, so that will free up some time.. and my son will be coming home for a visit with his fiance.. so I am cleaning and painting like a mad woman.. but once they have gone back home, maybe I will find more time .

I hope to see youover there soon, though IrishRose :)

Gypsy... sometimes it helps to use a focus of some kind. A candle, or a crystal or something that you can focus on comfortably. Or, maybe music.. or a scent? ( I use clary sage to meditate and to do Reiki)

Also a good way to begin is to try using the elevator reverie or going down steps.. or into a pool.. or.. ust picture yourself walking a path to a "safe" place or a beautiful place. You might try telling yourself that outside noises will notdistract you, but will help you go deeper into meditation. There are a lot of good tapes out there.. and that might help you..

Gypsy, my husband is not a beliver in any of what I believe or do. He scoffs at my Reiki practice and ..
well, I have found that there is a lot of support in the circle of firneds i have that facilitate healing work.

maybe you have a local bookstore like this one

http://www.theopenmind.com/

that has meditation classes?

Belive me, there is something very special about a group meditation.. the energy is amazing! Huge, at times

once you find others in your community who share your belifs, you will feel so much better?!

Are you near Webster University? ? I think my son knows of a place near there .. a crystal shop.. or do an online search..

Besides.. there are some very nice people here that will be supportive of you! :)

Thank you all for the suggestions. I am about 2 hours from Kansas City and believe me, that would be the closest city for me to find more information. I am working hard at this and hope to get there soon. I have ordered some books off the web though.

I was wondering about the music part of it. Do you think that would help? Or would more of a "white" noise help? Like ocean waves or something????

I don't have JE's tapes, but I am now going to order them. Six tapes must have something I can use:D

Hope to see everyone on tonight at the chat. I am looking forward to it.

Gypsy..

The best advice I can give you is to do what works for you. And most likely that will change as time passes, and even ... eventually... from meditation to meditation.

I am not a big white noise fan.. but have on occasion used nature sounds..

Drums are very , sort of hypnotic to me.. and can help me to fal into a meditation .. sometimes..

Once you get started, you will see that it is not the same every time.. and that the dog can bark or the neighbors horn can get stuck on their car.. and you can sort of either absorb it.. or let it simply flow off of you.

More advice... know.. that you can do it. We all can. Try not to be afraid of it. There is no right way to mediatate ( or to do Reiki, or Intuitive work for that matter) there is only the way that is best for you.

Just as we are all different in our thoughts and looks, we are all different in our abilities and how we use them. If meditating to the sound of a high school band practice works.. then .. well, it does..

I would suggest that you practice breathing, as breathing is important. Learn to really breathe. It really helps to breathe correctly.. fill your body with air from your belly.. up. FEEL the breaths..

Be patient with yourself

To quote Edgar Cayce, "Patience is allowing the spirit to bear upon what you want."

:)

:) My turn:

1.) My name is Jerri. I was named after my dad.
2.) I hit the big 40 this year.
3.) I am married to a wonderful guy - been together for 9 years.
4.) Have two great daughters. Oldest one is 17 (from first marriage) youngest is almost 4. Even though there is a big age difference between the two, they still fight!!!
5.) I am a stay-at-home mommy (best job I've ever had!!)
6.) I have lived in Colorado since I was 4. Love it here but I would like to move to a less populated state.
7.) I also love mexican food, and don't care that much for peanut butter or beets. My biggest love is CHOCOLATE!!
8.) Animals that reside at my house - 1 dog (she's a wolf hybrid), 1 bunny,& 1 cockatiel. Have had many more animals in the past but we are trying to downsize.
9.) Greatest lesson learned in life so far- "The quality of my life is greatly effected by the quality of the people I allow in it" (I ran with a pretty rough crowd in my early years and my life improved greatly when I finally learned this lesson!!)
10.) I have started and stopped going to college more times than I like to admit. Someday I will figure out what I want to be when I grow up!!
11.) I love to listen to the acoustic guitar - have tried to learn to play in the past but I never stuck with it. Luckily hubby plays!
12.) I was a volunteer at a bird-of-prey rehabilitation center for 5 years. I loved it but had to give it up after daughter #2 came along. Especially loved working with the owls.
13.) I like adventure. I have bungee jumped, skydived, white water rafted, hotair ballooned, parasailed, and I make it a point to always order something I have never tried before when I go to a restaurant.
14.) I have never seen JE live. Someday maybe, but I don't feel like it is something that I just have to do. Been watching JE since Dec. 2000.
15.) I go to the library every week. I don't read very much fiction. I usually head to the philosophy or metaphysical section.
16.) I love puns. I judge a person's intelligence on their sense of humor (I shouldn't do this but always have!)
17.) I try to live for now. I don't worry too much about the future and tend to forget the past very quickly (that could just be an age thing :))
18.) I have very long hair. I doubt I will ever cut it.
19.) I don't like telemarketing calls or door-to-door sales calls:mad: (I know people gotta make a living but I feel this is such an invasion of privacy!)
20.) I am happy to meet all of you :)

Wheew! I think this is going to be hard, but what they heck I'll give it a try! I think this is a really great thread! ...... on that note .......

16. I hate ignorance and it makes me really angry!

17. I don't like to "relax" on vacation, I can lay around at home (which I usually do) and like to do things ..... my favorite vacations ..... London and Disney World! (see #s10 and 11).

18. I kill even plastic plants ... see # 13.

19. I can't cook, mainly because I like instant gratification and can't wait to eat and also because I buy stuff and never use it! See #12.

20. I am eternally grateful to John Edward for believing in my own experiences with the other side which in turn led me to this website and to all my wonderful new friends here! Truly it is debt which can never be repaid!

And gosh this wasn't as hard as I thought! I could go on for probably 20 more! **as everyone runs screaming!!!**

1. My name is Kristen
2. I am not married and am 24 years old.
3. I live in Illinois in the suburbs with my mom and plan to move to Chicago soon, hopefully :D
4. I love colder weather - not too much snow but I think it is beautiful! So, Chicago is perfect for me :)
5. I have two cats, one dog and a parakeet (who is truly my bird - unlike the cats and dog). I love them all.
6. I don't currently have a job, but worked for a small marketing company for three years. I am looking to help others - I am not cut out for the business world. So, looking for a job and thinking of teaching, nursing, etc. Don't know yet.
7. I also love to read. I read everything and love history. I think I should have been a history teacher.
8. I am the oldest of five brothers and sisters.

10. I love my family and have a rather big family.
11. I love all foods :D

14. I began watching JE only about three months ago seriously and two months ago logged onto this site for the first time. It was meant to be.
15. I love to meditate and to read all things related to reincarnation, meditation, the afterlife, JE, etc. I am still learning to meditate, though!
16. I love JE but more importantly love his message. I have come to know that it is important to CAV and love people thanks to JE. My life is changed, and as so many have said like it was divided into two parts: before and after.
17. Ignorant people also make me angry, especially closed-minded and mean people.
18. I adore this discussion group. Thank you Pam! I have made many friends and feel so very comfortable sharing with all of you. I would do anything for you guys! I love you!
19. I respect all people and love to learn about different cultures and religions.
20. I am trying to become a person who does good for others rather than who I was before - selfish and materialistic and envious. I long to learn from you all, and to be of use in this world.

That was easier than I thought it would be. Very nice to learn about everyone! Thanks!

This is a great thread going here. It's nice to hear about everyone and how so many of us have the same feelings and thoughts on certain subjects. I hate beets too! :lwink:

Anyway, I've ordered books and tapes, and hope to get going on the meditation. I tried the deep breathing, and I see what everyone is saying about it, it does work. It can really calm a person down!!! I think I am going to incorporate that into my daily life. It made me realize that I breathe very shallowly (is that a word???).

So now I'm gazing at the mailbox, waiting for my new "toys" to arrive. I am very impatient. I also love to read and have to read every day, so this is going to be great. My husband is just going to shake his head and laugh. (Though the day of the JE marathon, he did watch quite a bit of it).

I'm rambling again. Nice to meet everyone though. This is a great place!

Okaaaaaaay I think I can do this :D

(1) My name is Vanessa but I'm never called it... only ever when in trouble..... I am usually called Nessa or Ness

(2) I'm British and live in South Wales in a village called Caerleon, where the romans once settled... I think they started building my extension because somehow it never gets finished lol

(3) I dont know what beets are..... unless they're the purple things you eat with salad, in which case I like em

(4) I hit the big 50 this year ...... where did that time go?

(5) I am married and have three grown children none of whom are married but I have a grandson by my youngest daughter

(6) I have always been a legal secretary, as time has gone on though I've taken more and more responsibility and now I do minor court work and a lot of other stuff that takes the heat off my boss

(7) I dont think I could be called religious but I do believe in something far greater than us and I've always believed in the afterlife
(8) My first conscious thought that I can remember was "i'm here!" when I was about two and a half - three.... its never left me, and I can even remember where I was when I thought it. My kids say I'm odd lol

(9) I was a prison kid..... like an army kid except my dad was a prison officer.. same principal - we moved up and down England a lot !!

(10) My first and strongest feeling of deja vu was when we were moving once, we were lost, but I somehow knew where we were and knew the right road.... strange because I was nine at the time.

(11) I didnt stay close to my family, I know my mother has passed but I dont know about my father and wouldnt know how to begin to find him... I have one brother who I dont see very often, one nephew and two nieces.

(12) I like to think I'm open to experience and I have twice smelled freesias when there have been no flowers around, or anyone likely to have been wearing a perfume like freesias. The only connection I can make here is the flowers at my mother's funeral

(13) I hate the number 13

(14) My grandson is called Owen, his nickname is Chewy because he moans a lot like chewbacca from Star Wars (he's seven months old)

(15) I have two cats who were both rescued, they are both around 11 now

(16) I'm a big fan of JE, have been since he was first brought to Living TV in the UK, but the only psychic medium I have ever seen in action was Stephen O'Brien, he comes from quite close to where I live I believe. I havent had a reading but I would love to.

(17) I love music and reading, my musical taste goes from classical to right up to date, the kids keep me young. As for reading, anything and everything, I also have to read every day

(18) I saw a butterfly on my window ledge at work today, it was there for several minutes and the first thing I thought of was this message board. I said hello to it in my mind, hope it was listening

(19) I collect cat ornaments and just recently stuffed cats have been coming at me as well. guess I'm a cat person

(20) I'm still reading all the threads on this board. My kids are beginning to complain that they cant get on the computer
:lwink:

Thats it lol nice to meet you all

Hi Nessa. I am very new to this board, but not new to John Edward. I've been a legal secretary all my life, straight out of high school. And isn't it great when they trust you enough to actually do some legal work? But I have been kind of drifting away from that, looking for something new.

When you mentioned smelling flowers when none are around, that is something that happens to me quite often. But I have not been able to place it to anyone in particular. Another strange smell that comes to me periodically is popcorn. My step-father (deceased) liked popcorn, and sometimes I wonder if its him.

And do you get any deja vu feelings anymore? I haven't had them since I was a child, when I had quite a few.

Anyway, nice to meet you. Everyone here is so friendly, it's great.

No, sadly I think I grew out of those as well, they happened a lot as a child, I think children see far more than most adults, because they havent yet been told these things dont exist.

I always encouraged my three to tell me if they saw anything or anyone, but we've had no imaginary friends, although the baby looks at things/people that arent there, and my cats do too !!

you mentioning the popcorn reminded me..... I've smelled other things that I cant place. Pleasant smells that remind me of something I cant put a finger on.. or put a time to..... but are somehow reassuring, I've never really thought about it before, but maybe I've been missing things.

I'm new here as well.... I lurk a lot, dont get time to post because I am too busy reading, This thread has brought me out though :lurker:

Nice to meet you Gypsy

This is fun! I love reading about everyone, but it's only fair that I post too, so I guess I'll take a stab at it.....

1. I'm Kim and I am 40...Hi Jerri! (jjharts)

2. I have been married for 16 years

3. I have two children...a 13 yr. old daughter and a 10 year old son.

4. My kids are the light of my life..... but they sure do wear me out!

5. We have a beloved 14 1/2 yr. old cat named Rozi (short o sound) who has skin cancer on his eyelids and the tips of his ears due to being a "fair skinned red-head". He just refused to wear his hat and sunscreen LOL !

6. I have been teaching first grade for 7 years. Every September I say "Next year I'm moving up to second grade", but by June I say "I love first grade!"

7. I am a soccer mom complete with minivan and Starbuck's Latte in hand...but in my mind I am still "Slim Kim" driving that red Camaro with the T-Top and the stereo blaring!

8. I love most music except heavy metal and rap.

9. I' d love to lose 20 pounds but if I lost 40 I would DEFINITELY pierce my navel.

10. I was born and raised in Plymouth, MA but have lived in CA for 16 years.

11. I have a 2 yr. old niece and 6 mo. old nephew on Cape Cod that I adore and miss terribly.

12. I am the oldest of three with two younger brothers that are my best friends.

13. My kids have middle eastern middle names because my husband is Iranian, although he's lived here for most of his life. He is most definitely *not* a JE believer or a believer in any after death communication.

14. I love all kinds of food except Sushi, hence #9 (see above).

15. I am a dessert queen and could give up all other food groups, except lobster.

16. I love going home to the cape every summer and re-connecting with my huge extended family and all that lobster!

17. I have two grandmas that I love dearly and am very close to, still living, one is 89 and in ok health and one is 96 and in better shape physically and mentally than me! (see #3 and #9 above).

18. I have several best friends, 2 are my brothers, 2 from elementary-high school school, 2 from college and 2 from motherhood.

19. I am HORRIBLE with managing money (Hi Amfie!) but really, really want an addition on my house and a trip to Europe. I'm hoping that meditation and constantly learning about past life regression, the afterlife, etc. will help me find some answers and some self control.

20. Tonight is Back To School Night at my school and I should NOT be reading and writing this...I should be getting showered and changed!

I truly love this message board and treasure my time online here reading and learning from so many incredible people. I have seen JE at two seminars, both in San Francisco and had a reading last May (2001). I loved that experience because it strengthened my beliefs and led me here. You all have no idea how important this board is to me and how special I think you all are.

I think this is a great thread, and am really enjoying getting to know you all. I guess I'm gonna jump in here.

1. My name is Terry and I love this site.

2. Born and raised in Star Valley, Wyoming. Was almost 30 before I left the timezone.

3. Lucky enough to be called Mom by 2 of life's greatest teachers, ages 20 and 16.

4. Usually very easy going. I enjoy people.

5. I'm the proverbial fence walker, and can have a debate when I'm the only one in the room.

6. I love to smile, and sing.

7. The worst part of my personality - unfortunately drives my car.

8. Love animals! Spent 5 years volunteering for the Humane Society. (Served 3 years as Secretary on the board of directors). However, I now live in a menagerie, all rescued from the pound or adopted from the H.S. (2) dogs; (1)16 year old cat; (1) 5ft Iguana; (2) turtles; (1) tarantula; (1) parakeet; (2) rabbits; (1) sugar glider; (1) hedgehog. Our family now has a "no replacement" policy.

9. Recently was forced to euthanize the purest source of unconditional love, my Bassett Hound, Abbey. I could swim in her eyes.

10. I worked 3 years as a CNA for a Respite Care Program. Lost so many, but learned so much. (BIG TIME lesson about priorities.)

11. 5 years for the State of Wyoming as a Youth Casemanager for the Job Training Program through the Department of Employment. (Working with youth 14-21 with serious barriers).

12. For the last year I have been employed as the Secretary for the Public Health Office. Was hired just in time for Bio-terrorism preparedness training. Very Interesting.

13. I have never been married, and am more content with that fact now, than I was 10 or 20 years ago.

14. I have a strong belief in God, and the Afterlife.

15. I believe that if I can get through each day without intentionally hurting anyone, and take responsibility when it happens unintentionally, things will be OK.

16. It took John Edward to teach me that I don't know how to breathe.

17. I watched my 1st episode of JE on 4/28/02. I have only missed 3 episodes since. (This includes reruns). I tape all of John's shows, but I have to watch while I tape so I can edit the commercials. (I know it's anal, but I'm a Virgo. What can I say).

18. My hobbies include reading; writing poetry, short stories, songs; logic problems; and fishing.

19. I am a size 8 in my mind's eye. A little larger in the funhouse mirror called Life.

20. I have 1 1/2 years until my baby girl graduates from Highschool, then I am planning to load up my car, and travel from Coast to Coast. Doing and seeing all of the things I haven't yet. It's a big list. I want to get it out of my system before grandbabies start coming along. (Of course this plan hinges on the number of pets I still have at that time.)

That's it for me. Next?
Terry :)

Hi Kim! Money, schmoney who needs it! LOL

It's amazing learning about everyone. And how it makes you take a good look at yourself and those around you. I was thinking about my brothers and how we are alike and different. My one brother (the older of the two) is very successful (family, career and money) and is very anal. He had a checklist back in high school that I swear had listed when/how he would do things like get married, get a MBA, have a family etc. And honestly he has done it. Me....I go with the flow.

One of the nicest things my Mom ever said to me was that she knew, no matter what happened to me in life, I would make it through, because I weathered some tough things at an early age. Things haven't always gone as planned. But my brother is more, I don't know, exact? Things are always so planned out, maybe not so much now, but nothing really "bad" has happened (thank God) to him, whereas I think I could survive just about anything.

Anyway Kim ..... here's hoping we win the lotto! LOL

:)

1. My name is Jeannie. My husband started calling me Twinky when we first started dating and has been the only one who does.

5. I live in Texas and have lived here all my life except for this past year we lived in New Mexico - another beautiful state.

6. I spent most of my growing up years living in an orphange with my mother who worked there 23 years. I had lots of interesting experiences there.

7. We don't have any pets right now. We had to give up our 2 cats in NM. They were getting to old to make the long trip and my husband who loves them is very allergic to cats. My daughter wants a dog very much so I guess we'll get one from the local humane office.

8. I am an R.N. I work in a hospital and love teaching prepared childbirth classes.

9.I love to travel with my family.

10. I started watching JE when it first began on Sci Fi. Thanks to him I know that the things I have experienced since a child are real and a natural part of my life.

11. I love to read mysteries, spiritual books, biographies and adventures.
(really I like to read almost anything)

12. I enjoy working puzzles and puzzle books.

13. I like to sew and crochet and am starting to learn to quilt.

14. I have never had a reading but would very much like to go to one of JE workshops.

15. I am always trying to lose weight. It has its ups and downs.

16. I like most foods including peanut butter. Beets are ok but I hate brussel sprouts. I love chocolate and I am addicted to coca cola. (hence the wt problem)

17. I like most music from Bach to Train. Classic, country, rock, pop. I don't really care for Maralyn Manson or 9inch nails but when my son is home I'll put up with almost anything.

18. I am a christian. I am a strong believer in the power of prayer.

19. I have JE tapes and love to mediate. I have trouble making sure to make time for it with my changing schedules.

20. I love this group and the new friends I've made. Thank you Pam for all you do.

Wow! I made it:lwink:

Wow Amfie, maybe you are a triplet! :)

When I read your reply I went back and re-read your list and saw so many similarities. I have also heard that very same comment about being a survivor. Maybe it comes from being the oldest and the only girl in a family...you kinda have to be tough!

My brothers and I are all very different. My youngest brother recently re-located to CA (Yay!) and spent most of the summer with us. He is single and I have not lived with him for almost 20 years. In the past I would have thought he and I were very different but I noticed that we are in fact, growing more alike the older we get. He is 34 now. I used to think I was more like my middle brother but now I wonder. He is very precise, exact and anal and is turning out to be a lot more like our dad than anyone would have imagined, so who knows....life is about change. But, they both manage money very well! I sure missed the boat there, as my husband will tell you. I wouldn't trade either one of them or our childhood growing up together.

So, yes, here's to winning the lottery! :clink:

Nessa:

I was just replying about the beets when jjharts did. I think you know what they are, you said something about putting the purple things in your salad. What do you call them in the UK?

Denise:confused:

Wooooohooooooo thats beetroot lol we have it in salad....... we eat the purple bit but not the green...... the purple bit is sooooooo nice when its hot, I love it :D

When its cold we steep it in vinegar (like pickles) and have it drained with salad

Sorry about interrupting the thread, but I needed to know.

I've been wanting to post back all week! *busy at work* :cuser:
Wow, I'm glad I posted this, I like finding out who all you people are! Thanks for the replies.

On the earlier topic; I need some good healing, I've been feeling ill. I use to meditate often, it was very relaxing. It took me a while to get the hang of it, I was making it too hard on myself. I need to find some time now to start again. I have one of JE's tape sets, the one where you walk down the path through the colored roses to the ocean *I love that one!* and where you wake up in the cabin.

I have something to say to everyone! I love it here
*Sassy - I love going to yard sales too, I go in Good Will looking for 80's toys all the time. But don't worry! I give back to them too. I like gardening too. So you're not the banker type either, eh?
*Irishrose - I agree about older people and little ones, they both have a wonderful perception of life. One group hasn't carried any of the hardships yet, and the other has carried them all. I want to try some of your grape jam! I don't like it on toast though, I eat it alone or on ice cream!
*Pooh - I'd love to join a meditation group, that sounds like so much fun! I've always been a night person too, but now I have this job and have to get up at 5:30am, yuck!!!
*Gail - Working in a library sounds fun! Surrounded by hundreds of books all the time. I love buying presents for people also, seeing people smile is a great thing. I'm not a seafood person either, mmm chicken. I'm the same way about animals, if I see a spider I'm like "don't kill it! just put it outside!" lol
*Kathy - I agree with your #9, a lot of people are very careless about everything these days. Will you teach me your healing methods? They all sound very cool. Or point me in a direction of some good books.
*Denise - It must be hard having children so far away, me and Chris will be less than 10-15 minutes away from both our families. I must admit, I wouldn't mind being a little farther ;) I love scary movies too! My favorite is Pet Semetary, I've seen it a gazillion times!

Okay, I promise to write [type?!] to the rest of you later! It's almost time to head home from work!

Hello All,

I've only just registered and I'm very pleased to be here.

Please bear with me as I'm not 100% sure how to use all these vB Codes etc, so this is sort of a practice run...

1. I live in the UK
2. I discovered JE in Feb/Mar last year, just before my mum died.
(I still think that was sort of a funny coincidence, know what I
Mean?)
3. I am 38 years old and I'm single with no children.
4. I thought I'd get married when I was about 20 and have a
'Walton' size family but it was not to be.
5. I work in sales at the moment but I just got my Diploma in
Hypnotherapy & Pschycotherapy. It's my intention to open a
practice in the not too distant future.
6. I was christened a catholic, and although I believe in one God
I don't know what name he goes by.
7. I wish my faith was stronger than it is. I really struggle with
it sometimes.
8. I love to laugh and do so at every available opportunity.
(Even sometimes when it's not appropriate).
9. I love playing jokes on people, but I love it when people take
the time and trouble to play a joke on me.
10. I have 3 Chinchillas, 1 hamster and 2 canaries.
11. My family are very important to me and I love my dad sooo
much.
12. I believe in 'live and let live' as long as no-one is forced to do
or suffer something they don't want.
13. I have just discovered film scores. I will use music with clients as it heightens the emotion and becomes a stronger anchor.
14. Film scores actually make me cry when I listen to certain ones
as they are so beautiful.
15. I always try to look on the positive side of things. My cup is
half full!
16. I am grateful for who I have and what I have and I wouldn't
want to be anyone else.
17. I believe in the 'belief' system. In other words, if you believe
in something it will happen. Somehow you will find a way!
18. I gave up smoking 3 weeks ago and I have missed it maybe
3 times. (Used hypnosis).
19. I look forward to being able to help people when my practice
is up and running.
20. I loved the film Lord Of The Rings and I'm just working my way
through the book (boy it's long:read2: but great)

I look forward to some really good times with you good people and I hope to pick up all your good habits :)

Welcome and nice to meet you.

Take a few minutes and read around. There are some wonderful topics to explore and some exceptionally wonderful people from all over on this board.

You might also want to do a small introduction individually so that others on the board can get a chance to respond to you as well.

Hi Jacksdaw:

I'm new here too and I just love it. I think it's just been a week or so, and I am already checking in at least once or twice a day. Everyone here is great, you know they have basically the same thoughts as you do on this subject matter, so it's like one happy big family. Welcome.

I just wanted to thank Krissy for starting this thread! I love to read about others and get to know them as well. The beets thing is funny, isn't it? All my life I tried to be like my father. I wanted to be just like him!!! Even the "funky" food he ate! Such as cows tounge to spaghetti sandwiches. But beets were the one thing I would never eat!! I get teased to this day by my family because I ate all the other strange things, but I really don't care. I always felt like my father was the only one who really understood me because him and I were so alike, that's one reason I feel/felt so close to him. My two brothers couldn't even understand my dad, we just had a special bond I guess.

Jerri, thanks for your suggestion. I know that you meant well, I didn't really understand your "callous' reference. Nothing you said sounded like that to me, you were trying to be helpful. Thanks for trying. I do believe I have asked every question possible and tried to look at every angle. I must be doing something wrong, right? I've mostly decided to concentrate on other areas of my life such as school, fitness and my hobbies. I will still read, I'm a fanatic reader, but I think when I read I will have a different frame of mind, I hope. I may be trying to hard? I don't know what I'm trying hard at because I don't even know what I'm looking for, but I will try to have a more nonchalant attitude about it all.

Hi all! I'm so happy to finally know the real yous and I look forward to knowing and learning more!

I feel like I've been away forever! I've loved reading this thread, it's so much fun to see all the things we have in common.:)
Let's see if I can come up with twenty things....

1. My name is Sandra
2. I was born and raised in the Bay Area...all over the Bay Area
3. I'm 35
4. I've never been married, but I did have a very long relationship with a very nice man that just sort of ended one night.
5. I went to seven different high schools, got my Cosmetology license at 17, my GED at 20, and started college at 29...I'm now a Senior (FINALLY!!!)
6. I attend a Catholic University. I'm a Humanities/Religion major.
7. After graduation, I plan to apply to the California Institute of Integral Studies and earn an MA in Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness. (Possibly move on to a doctoral program at the University of Arizona's Human Energy Systems laboratory? Hmmmmm;))
8. I was an AT&T operator (hairstylist, cashier, dishwasher/porter,house cleaner, hotel maid,...blah..blah...blah...thank God for student loans!)
9. I have one sister, three years older.
10. I tutor adults learning basic literacy skills.
11. I believe my love of reading and books saved me from a miserable life...maybe even saved my life.
12. Growing up my favorite book was "Tuck Everlasting" and I- can't -wait- for the movie!!
13. I have a big, shaggy mutt named Teddy Boy (10) and an asthmatic cat named Boo Boo (14).
14. Weight? Ahhh, do I have to? How 'bout...up and down more than the Cyclone at Coney Island?
15. I buy one bottle of Giorgio every year...and use it on my sheets and clothes.
16. I have been drawn to all things metaphysical/spiritual my whole life. My mother says she remembers my telling her about reincarnation when I was a very young child. I don't remember.
17. I've been to three JE seminars: Las Vegas, San Francisco, and San Diego. At seminars, I'm always amazed how fast the time goes. I could watch for hours...and hours...I don't think it could ever get old.
18. I think the only way I would want a reading with JE would be in a private session. (No microphones and crowds please.)
19. I want to be a positive force in the world.
20. I don't care for beets.

20a. I love this message board. I'm so grateful to have such a positive place to share my thoughts and so many wonderful people to learn from.

You guys are all great!
And the rest of you... *so far*

*Renee - I like your advice on aging, I already use Oil of Olay Total Effects, LoL. I love going on walks and museums... though I don't have any close by around here. Cow's tongue! ewww, lol, my mom eats strange things like that, pig feet often!
*Jerri - Congrats on being a stay-at-home mom, I think that's awesome. I really hope I get to be one. I like your life quote very much. May I use it? I'll say I got it from a friend ;) Wow, you're adventurous, I'm scared to bungee jump. Went white water rafting when I was little, that was fun! I have very long hair too. I'm *thinking* of cutting it next summer, and dying it cherry red or something, hehe.
*Tammy - You are one of the people I remember being here often when I started posting. I'm kind of a girlie girl, yet I'd rather hang with the guys too. Your mom can't spell your middle name? hehe, Mine always forgets my birthday! She's thinks it's the 5th instead of 12th.
*Woobeesmom - I'll be marrying my high school sweetheart next year, hopefully this place will still be around and I'll let ya know how we are in 28 years. :) Hillbillies in Arkansas? I thought they were all here in Kentucky with me, LoL. I'm crafty too! I love to cross-stitch. I want a yellow vw beetle!
*KathyBear - I want to see the ocean waves! Sounds nice. I've never seen the ocean. But Chris hasn't either, so that's where we're going on our honeymoon. I like crossword puzzles too, always do the one in the back of the tv guide. And long car rides.
*Ann - I've never been west of the Mississipi either, or south of Alabama/Georgia, which ever is lower. Been to Michigan but not north-east. If you start working at Disney World send me some free tickets! I don't like relaxing on vacations either.
*Jessie - You are adopting a child from Russia? That's wonderful! Mmm, I love dairy too. Just finished a big plate of mac n cheese. That doesn't necessarily imply a grown-up, if you don't feel like one! I probably never will.
*Kristen - People call me that all the time, or Kristy, they just can't get my name right. I like learning about different cultures and religions too. It's interesting how different people can be, yet so alike at the same time.
*Nessa - Most of the cats I've had have been rescued too. We live out in a country-ish area and people just drop them off, the poor dears. I like all kinds of music as well. I'd love to visit another country someday. If I make it in your direction I'll be sure to come visit! ;)
*Slim Kim - Aw, give your kitty a kiss for me! Not a big rap fan either. I love desserts too, anything, as long as it doesn't have peanut butter or nuts. I don't like lobster though! *quietly admits she's never tried it*
*Terry - I've been thinking of volunteering for the humane society. Or at least adopting half their animals! I like to write poetry too, and logic puzzles, they're fun.
*Jeannie - That's interesting you lived in an orphanage, I'd love to work at one. I'm a believer in the power of prayer also.
*Jacksdaw - Welcome! I don't believe in coincedences ;) I have a chinchilla too! His name is Chillie! Use to have a lot of hamsters when I was younger. My glass it half full too. I'm very glad you gave up smoking!
*Sandra - I would like to have a cosmetology license, I almost went down that road. 3 seminars! Aw, I want to go to another one, or 2 or 3 or...

Thanks for all the replies, I hope we keep getting more from everyone!! And just for the record... I don't like beets either! LoL, my mom makes pickled beets, yuck. If anyone wants to email me and chat, go ahead! I think we have an email button... hehe

Nessa, If you ever have the chance to visit Wales.. run! it is lovely..! and the people are so friendly.

They have skaters in their food stores.. have you ever head of that elsewhere?
My friend and I couldn't find the marmite.. she said she would ask a skater... imagine my surpsise when I saw that it was actually someone on skates ( I was thinking it was just someone who knew where things were and would help you get them quickly.. in a way, I guess I was right)

Thanks to you all for such a nice welcome:D

I'm looking forward to searching around this site and as I can be a bit dizzy sometimes (:( ) I hope it doesn't take me too long to get myself sorted.

As far as beets are concerned... Many years ago I had a coldsore on my lip. It was very painful and my siser said 'I have a great cure for you.' Off she went and got a jar of pickled beetroot from the cupboard. She told me to take some out of the jar and place it on my lip where I had my coldsore.

I was just about to place it on the spot she said when finally she burst out laughing. She only wanted to see if I would do it. Now I don't know what beet is like in the US, but over here, once it's steeped in vinegar as Minty mentioned, it stains big time. If my sister had let me put that beetroot on my lip I'd have had a stain on my lips for days... At least she stopped me bofore I did it.

Anyway, I'll take your advise [B]Irishrose[B] and I'll do an introduction but I think I may lurk for a while first.

Krissy, as everyone says, you started a great thread. It gave me the perfect opportunity to say hello. My chins are called 'Fizz', 'Girlfriend' (I got her to keep Fizz company and my sister came up with her original name  ) And then there's 'Chamois'. She's my attempt at taming chins... It's hard work as she's very timid. Then I have 'Rudy' my hamster (she has a red nose) and last, but not least there's 'Budgie' & 'Tiddles' my canaries. As you can probably tell, I like non conventional names.:D

I shall speak to you all soon.

Take care and believe...[B][I]

Krissy,
I used Oil of Olay too! I used it since I was 12, but stopped when all this retinol came out. Now Oil of Olay has special wrinkle stuff. It's funny because I've always looked young for my age. When I was 24 y/o I started a new job (it's illegal to ask someone their age in a place of employment), the person I worked under was about to turn 30 y/o in a matter of days, she told me how young I looked (about 16) and I replied that it was the Oil of Olay (my usual reply to anyone who asked me). She told me many years later that, that night she went out and bought a bunch of Oil of Olay. I laughed, but it was true, I used Oil of Olay all those years. I just thought it was funny you mentioning Oil of Olay and my using it for so many years.

Minty.. the skaters were in some.. "superstore" we went to the night I was leaving. It is near to Tongwynlais.. maybe between there andCaerphilly.. as we had just been to the castle.. I wish I could remember the name.. but.. I can't. I think I have a shopping bag from there in my suitcase, and if so I will tell you later :)
I was definitely not in Cardiff..

One of the things I like best about Cardiff is the closes.. those tiny little alleywasy that pop up here and there and hae wonderful little stores.. LOL

Cardiff reminds me very much of Boston.. in Massachusetts.. ..The street vendors and so on.. and just something about the energy, actually..

The day we went to southerndown it was rainy and raw.. I loved it anyway!

Didn't see any cattle on the roads.. just sheep .. and GRIDS! lol

I'm sure I'm going to get lost in the crowd, but actually, it's okay. You guys are so interesting! Krissy, you are a genius for starting this thread -- it is so unbelievably interesting and makes me feel so.......humble. You are all great. So I'll do this, just because I am one of those people who hates to be left out;)

1. I am an only child and have absolutely despised each and every minute of it.

2. My own family and friends are of utmost importance to me (refer to #1)

3. I have two of the most beautiful children in the world and of course I am perfectly objective:P

4. I worry about absolutely everything and then some.

5. I hate beets.

6. I love to laugh very, very hard as often as possible and think I have a pretty good sense of humor.

7. I cry very, very hard much too often.

8. My friends refer to me as the "empath".

9. In school I'm known as the "kill 'em with love specialist".

10. I was married once to a wonderful man who crossed long before his time. I then married an equally wonderful, brilliant man whom I dated in college and have been friends with forever. He's still my best friend.

11. I adore my parents even though it's their fault that I wrote #1.

12. I am constantly afraid someone is mad at me and that I've done something to upset someone. My co-workers tell me if I say "I'm sorry" one more time, they'll put their feet down my throat.

13. I hate the number 13. (I think it was Irishrose who said that too)

14. I have never been satisfied with pat answers about anything and have, since I was a child, always thought that there was much more than what we see.

15. I was raised Catholic, but I finished with organized religion when my church kicked me out because I married a man of Jewish faith. (I was on the Vestry, choir soloist, etc.) When man intervenes, it all seems to go south. Isn't tolerance wonderful?

16. I despise intolerance and injustice.

17. I adore my job -- I teach at risk teens who have been expelled from school and every day learn much more from them than they do from me.

18. I am mad about JE and sometimes, like Krissy, feel as though I "know him".

19. I'm afraid I've bored you all silly and am ready to apologize again!

20. This board has become one of the best part of my days!

There -- thanks for reading, if you did, and I just can't wait to get to know everyone better.

Jeannie

I did not say I hate the number 13 but said I liked quiet time. But don't say you are sorry - it is o.k.

I am amazed (but probably shouldn't be) and the "trends" or like things that keep coming up for "we" that post here (sorry about the tense.)

2. I have been single (by choice) for 21 years.

5. I live in a house built in 1890 as a one room school house.
People in their 80's and 90's sometimes show up and ask to
look at the place they went to school.
6. God blessed me with the two greatest sons in the world.
7. My ex-husband is now one of my best friends. If anyone had suggested that would be the case a few years back, I would
have suggested they medicate themselves. He was a huge lesson in forgiveness.
8. My 7yr old grandson and I have a remarkable connection.
He loves words and has a huge vocabulary. He just called to tell me he sends me telepathic messages.
9. Being the 2nd girl, my father made me the son he never had.
I too was a tomboy.
10. I've told myself for years I need a hair cut. It's now past my waist.
11. As hard as I try I can't get over 100lbs.
12. I live with 3 cats and a 5 and a-half foot iquana named Archie.
He is 15yr and never been caged. He seems to think he's a cat.
13. While in a spiritual funk I found JE and this site.
14. The people on this site mean more to me than they'll ever
know.
15. I live in a tiny country town where everyone knows each other. We gossip about each other, but if anyone has a crisis,
the whole town rallies.
16. God blessed me with not one but two wonderful fathers.
17. My birth father died during Thanksgiving dinner as I sat on his lap. Later, my mother married his best friend.
18. I have a rare, painful spinal disease. Many times this site and
my friends have lifted me up when everything seemed too much.
19. My youngest son did 4 years in Ecquador in the Peace Corp,
and just married an Ecquadorian teacher. They are coming back
here to live at the end of Oct. I am too excited for words.
20. I can't believe I thought of this many things.

POOH: Aren't you glad it's over? I feel like school really starts once I get that out of the way... I had a hard Friday also ... too much :chatter: from my first graders.

Julie: Hi! Glad to see you!...I've been thinking of you!

Twinky: I think of everyone here as a friend too, except maybe Julie "As hard as I try I can't get over 100 lbs." LOL

AAARRRGGGHHH! As hard as I try, I can't get *close* to 100 lbs.....but I'm coming from the other direction....:(

Love this thread

Greetings. I've posted here a few times and find a few minutes to read new posts at night and that's about it. I really enjoy all the humor and insight this site brings into daily life. I thought I'd share 20 things about me! Here goes...
1. I am alive! (physically, emotionally and spiritually)
2. I am a wife of a truly terrific hubby who treats me like a queen.
3. I am blessed to be a mommy to two beautiful & healthy children. (P.J. 3 3/4, Adrianna 9 months)
4. I am edging my 30's and can honestly say I'm o.k. with it! :)
5. I am a stay-at-home-mommy
6. I am an only child but have one step-sister(who may as well be my sister since we're so close)
7. I've been married for 5 years.
8. I have a bachelor's degree:majored in psychology with a minor in Human Relations.
9. I used to feel that I "wasted" my college degree because I'm not working but now realize that it was just part of my life experience and I am actually putting my child psychology to good use on my kiddies!
10. I was born and raised Catholic however I haven't been to church in 9 years.
11. My mother-in-law is a Presbyterian minister (I will be joining her church this year).
12. Became a fan of JE 4 years ago by reading "One Last Time".
13. I'm very interested in astral traveling but haven't worked up the courage to try it--I'm a wuss and freak myself out ;)
14. I believe everything happens for a reason--no coincidences.
15. I struggle with low self-esteem
16. I struggle with maintaining patience
17. I would like to go back to school someday in something computer-related.
18. My mom and I have a pact with each other--whoever dies first will make contact with the other with our special sign.
19. I really really really really really hope John and Sylvia and other well-known psychic mediums are RIGHT because I used to have nightmares as a young (Catholic-raised) child about pergatory and dealing with the concept of eternity...(what do you DO for eternity!?!?)
20. I hope I have made or will make a positive impact in this world.

Thanks for letting me share.
Hugs!

It is great to get to know you. Don't worry about wasting that psychology degree those 2 kids will be teenagers someday. LOL :lwink:

Eternity? It's funny I just heard JE talk about that the other day on one of the shows. He says that here on earth we have a linear understanding of time that just does not exist on the other side. It is a concept that is hard for us to comprehend. On the other hand I think that it is rather comforting.

Hi, Twinky. Thanks for your comments--I guess I'm not that scared about "eternity" now since I do think the whole time concept is a non-issue once we pass. As a child it used to be so terrifying, though. I think the most comfort I take is in the fact that I will be reunited with all those that I love and those that I love and do not remember (friends, guides, etc on the other side waiting for me).

Hugs,
Mandie :lwink:

Ok, I'll give this a try.....

1. My name is Annemarie, I’m 30 something..........

2. I am a mother and grandmother, but bore no children (fingure that out?)

3. When I was 20, I met a divorced guy, 10 years older than me, with 3 kids.......I married him 13 years ago.

4. My stepdaughters are now my friends, and have allowed me to enjoy THEIR new little ones, which are even more special since I couldn’t have my own.

5. I have an eclectus parrot that is potty trained....he says “Do a poopie......Good Bird!”
He also says “Do you wanna snuggle?”and we sit on the floor and he snuggles in my shirt. (Birds are so intelligent, and you CAN cuddle with them like any other animal!)

6. I share a king size bed with our 160lb English Mastiff (and my husband).

7. I love restaurant cooked liver and onions w/ mashed potatoes.

8. I have a BS in Biology, and currently work for a pharmaceutical co. manufacturing the flu vaccine. (BTW, one cannot get the flu from the vaccine!!!!)

9. I’m also certified to teach Science (grades 7-12). I found that the kids just sucked all of my energy from me, but I "enjoyed” teaching, just too draining for me (see #12 and "alone time").

10. Some of my FAV movies have been “Fly Away Home” (always reminded me of something I would do), “Dances with Wolves,” and “Contact” with Jodi Foster.

11. I recently bought a $300 piano, but don’t know how to play (yet)!

12. I am a picture perfect Capricorn (a realist, fairly patient, organized, but not as anal as I used to be, and need my “alone” time).

13. My hubby and I owned a grocery store (hubby’s dream) for 5 years, until a chain store came to town & we went “belly up”.

14. Some metaphysical interests include studying NDE’s, being able to lucid dream (I can’t yet), and being able to have an OBE at will (I have had a few in dreams I believe).

15. I am currently battling Hodgkin’s Diesease, but am now half-way through treatments (yea!)

16. When I look back over my life, I see that everything has happened just as it was supposed to, even if things did not make sense at the time = no coincidences.

17. I love gardening, with my FAV perennial being lavender. I have a whole hedge of it along the side of my house.....the smell is relaxing, and I love to watch the bees come to it and gather nectar.

18. My ultimate ticket to relaxation is a hot bath (hate showers), with, of course, Lavender/Sandalwood essential oil blend, lights out, candles lit, with a favorite CD playing. Sounds romantic I know, but its more relaxing than romantic to me (not that I don’t like romantic).

19. I originally came to this site because of JE......I kept coming back because of the people who gathered here, not because of JE.

20. I went to see JE live (3 times) to prove to my scientific self that what he does is real. I believe it is, what I need to know now is HOW?

How incredible that you waited until #15 to mention something this traumatic. Certainly says something about your character and guts! I know all our friends on this board are keeping you in their prayers.

I have a lot to do to make her special day feel special. It's like a happy family here. I hope to read your post on other threads, I think I will learn much from all of you.

1. Hello. I am a 41 y/o Canadian Capricorn named Laurie.
2. I am the second youngest of five children. I have an older sister, two older brothers and a younger sister. My husband is also the second youngest of five children. He also has an older sister, two older brothers and a younger sister. I didn’t ask him what his last name was until after he proposed (we only knew each other for 7 months when we married... we just KNEW it was meant to be).
3. After 21 years of marriage we are still best friends. Best friends don’t always have to get along do they? :)
4. We have 3 teenaged sons. 19,16,13. The oldest is away at university. The middle one is currently learning how to drive. The youngest keeps beating my hubby at chess these days. The boys are some of my greatest teachers in life.
5. Our family pet is a retriever/collie cross named Abbie who won’t let me out of her sight. I think she has abandonment issues or something. If I get up during the night I have to step carefully onto the floor for fear of stepping on her. I stop her at the bathroom door. Hey, I need my privacy!
6. Our oldest boy is engaged to a wonderful girl whom I’ve known since she was 14 and I’ll be pleased to call her a daughter-in-law some day.
7. Next month we are attending a nephews wedding and it will essentially be a family reunion for me. I haven’t seen some of my family members for almost 10 years. We aren’t very close, but still I’m getting excited about it.
8. I’ve been a JE fan for about a year, since I found it on TV and bought his book. I even got my husband watching. He now calls it “his show” when he asks me if I’m ready to watch the tape (we tape it daily).
9. I love to read self-help and spiritual books, and I love to journal. I taught myself how to crochet and cross-stitch, and find them both to be meditative.
10. I need lots of quiet time to balance my life as it’s usually hectic around here.
11. I work as a chiropractic health assistant/receptionist and love my job.
12. I once took a psychology course just so I could understand my mother better.
13. I dislike watching the evening news and am trying unsuccessfully, so far, to wean my husband off of it. I believe that what we focus on, we create more of (the same belief behind having a “gratitude journal”), so I don’t think people ought to contribute any energy to all the negative events highlighted on the news.
14. If we were all in a room together, I’d be the quiet one in the corner. I’m told I’m a good listener. But talk to me one on one and I’m fine and have plenty to say. (Hence the name elf philosophy, I guess)
15. I decided one day to accept myself as I am, and be my own authority on what looks good or feels good to me. I stopped buying magazines because the ads and articles in them turn me off of them. Do this, wear that, diet, follow this fad, buy this, discard that…enough already!
16. I am in the habit of getting up before the rest of the family so I can have at least a half hour of quiet, with a lit candle and cup of coffee, before the household gets up.
17. I’d have a cat, but then I’d have to give up my husband, it’s a toss-up sometimes. :)
18. I keep a psychic journal to record all the unusual coincidences and events in my life. I decided it would help me to convince myself, by anecdotal evidence that I, like everyone else, have abilities, and also, it would zero in on what they are so I’d know how to interpret the events and the intuitive thoughts, and so on.
19. I’m happy to meet all of you and feel right at home in the midst of you all.
20. My relationship to Divine energy is a personal thing. I don’t need organized religion at this point. Been there, done that. I have rituals in my life and aim to not harm anything or anyone. Thank you for listening.

1. I'm new to this forum.

2. Not new to my belief. It's been lifelong although my 'religious' affiliations have changed. Was Catholic, now Russian Orthodox, via marriage. I consider myself 'spiritual' over 'religious'.

3. Speaking of marriage, been married for 11.5 years to an incredible man. We've been together for thirteen.

4. The result of our love is two more blessings that I could never have imagined, two sons,  (one who is standing here telling me how much he loves me! "Mama, I really really love you soooooo much!!!!") born in '92 & '98.

5. Even though I'm blessed by those two little munchkin bunchkins, many times they lead me to believe that my profession is the one listed in my avatar. For tax purposes, my profession is 'homemaker'. Since the cleaning part of that definition does not apply to me, I prefer to list my profession as Stay At Home Mom (aka SAHM).

6. Our extended families are *awesome*! Both DH and I are blessed to have strong relationships with our siblings & parents although my DH lost his beloved Dad in Nov 2000.

7. Dad's (my Father-in-Law's) passing over & the period immediately before it while he fought the cancer, renewed my quest for reading materials regarding the spirit and the afterlife. And I truly believe that having the faith is what helped me and my DH get through the heartwrenching and heartbreaking loss of Dad.

8. I have a fantastic circle of friends & hope to include people from here among them!

9. I was raised in the town I live in but left for a number of years mainly because some memories of a not so terrific time in my life kept me from seeing how much I loved it here. Moved back with DH in 1995 b/c we want to raise our children in this town. It's sort of a dinosaur in this fast-paced thing called life.

10. I believe with all my heart that life is not about the stuff. It's about lessons learned, tough ones or easy ones. Everything eventually seems to make sense.

11. I've been having an influx of 'A Ha' Moments between my own exploration and a Bible Study that I joined.

12. It was hard for me to join the Bible Study. I feel rather inept in my knowledge. And preconceived notions plus fear of being stereotyped held me back.

13. Discovered at the age of 39 that this quirky brain of mine does have a diagnosis. I'm ADHD & have been trying to make the transition from joy of knowing what's 'wrong w/ me' ... to sadness of knowing that something is 'wrong w/ me' ... to anger that I'm stuck like this...to hopefully achieving acceptance for who I am.

14. The unlying thing that has gotten me through every event in my life is FAITH!

15. Oh yeah -- I'm almost 42 & my real name is Linda.

16. I am an 'out of the box' kind of person (probably b/c of being ADHD) and believe you can find something positive in virtually everything. I have a great ability to see shades of gray. Nothing is black & white.

17. I have lots and lots to learn about being a better person. I'm on the quest and have to give myself for trying. In other words, I have a long way to go but I am on the path. It may be the beginning of the right one, but finally at least I found the one that leads somewhere!

18. I've experienced my share of ADC's & although I find it exhilirating, I still find it somewhat scary. I'm trying to get beyond the fear part of it.

19. The person I accept the least is myself.

20. I rarely am at a loss for words. (like you can't tell! ) As a matter of fact, a few of my internet friends have dubbed me "Queen of a Thousand Words". :cuser:

I'm excited to be here & thank the creator of this forum for having it here!

Sincerely,
Linda

Hi Jeliel,

So you are good at lucid dreaming, huh? Well, I stink at it so far. May I ask what techniques you employ? I believe it can be done, but I'm still learning. Would love to hear of some of your techniques and adventures. If not in this thread, then perhaps over at Spirit Discovery........

Cheers!

Hi Jeliel:wave:

Welcome! I think you will find this a very safe, comforting place to be. We all seem to be on the same path -- some just farther ahead than others, but we are all searching. Good luck and it'll be great getting to know you.

I really enjoyed learning about everyone and thought I would give it a try!

1. I just joined this week.
2. I currently live in NYC with my wonderful husband of two years.
3. I have two beautiful black cats “Elmo & Puddy”
4. As a child my friends would make fun of me and call me a witch because I just knew things that couldn’t be explained.
5. I started speaking to one of my spiritual guides at age 4. My Mother encouraged me to keep contact and would ask me questions.
6. On Sept 19, my brother passed of Lou Gehrig’s Disease/ALS. During his illness we started watching JE. We both found it fascinating and began on our search for more answers.
7. JE has really helped my brother in dealing with death. He died with the knowledge that his family and friends would be there waiting for him. He was not afraid, in fact in some ways I believe he looked forward to it. I am very grateful to JE and many others for helping so many people realize that the afterlife really does exist.
8. I am fortunate enough to have attended a seminar of JE in New York with my Mother. We both had a wonderful experience and learned a lot.
9. I studied costume design in college. After doing that for a while I re-examined my life goals and switched to the wedding industry.
10. After planning my own wedding I took a break from working and focused on helping my brother deal with his illness. I stayed with him to the very end and I have no regrets!
11. I currently work with my husband out of our home. Our corporate office is in California and we travel back and forth quite frequently. My Grandfather says we fly on planes like most people ride the bus.
12. I am very lucky to have a very large and supportive Italian family. I am the oldest of three. My brother and sister are twins. My Mother is one of Four and is also a twin. Her older sister just had twins yesterday….so I am a cousin again at age 31! Twins seems to run in the family!
13. I have a hard time making new friends but once I do they are my friends for life.
14. I love to draw, sew and just be creative…I don’t do these things enough.
15. I also love to meditate and do Birkram Yoga. This is something I make sure I find time to do!
16. I love the ocean but I do not like fish….go figure!
17. I have a beautiful nephew from my brother who passed away but I am currently not able to see him. His wife has a lot of issues (she left him before he died) and is taking it out on our family. I am trying to get over my anger towards her so that I am able to have a relationship with my nephew someday.
18. I am Roman Catholic, went to Catholic High School and try to go to church often.
19. I have two of the best in-laws. They live far away and I wish I were able to spend more time with them.
20. I am in good health, happy and very much in love!

Hi Elmo:wave:

Welcome to our wonderful home. It sounds like you have had quite a full life for someone so young -- and I envy you your large Italian family. Mine's Italian, but my part is very small -- only child and all aunts and uncles 2700 miles away on the west coast. Anyway -- hope to get to know you much better. God bless you for your wonderful support of your brother. And thank God that JE and his work has helped you through such a difficult time.

Blessings to you,
Jeannie

I looked at this thread before but I wasn't ready to add myself to the list. I think I'm ready now anyway!

1. My stats: female, 39, more kilos than I care to admit to, Libra, Greek Orthodox, Sydney born, one sister/brother-in-law, both parents living, one niece (6), one nephew (2), I'm full-time carer, uni. graduate in sociology (1993) and soon to be a student again for a grad.dip.psych. this time.

2. As a Libra I find it next to impossible to be balanced. I am always going from one extreme to another. My balance issues are: family vs self
left brain vs right brain
science vs faith
hate God vs love God
hate humanity vs love humanity
etc.

3. Hate intolerance, especially when it comes from me.

4. Suffer from panic attacks and anxiety probably from trying too hard to please everyone, being a perfectionist and my desperate need to find an answer to science vs faith.

5. Hope that JE's books come out in video form because despite my education I hate reading and I get really anxious about reading.

6. My ideal life would be to have enough money to live by the ocean, paint, do pottery, write, lie on the sand and go fishing.

7. It would also be nice to share that life with a caring, intelligent guy - YES I AM SINGLE AND AVAILABLE!

8. As for any psychic talents, OOOooh experiences etc. I have had some weird experiences but I tend to avoid them. I'm not comfortable talking about them for various reasons. I do talk about stuff like this when I feel that its okay to, but I kind of freaked my father out when I was little and I realised how threatening this stuff can be - even to me. I have a lot invested in trying to be insensitive! It must be so wonderful to be James Randi. To know that there's nothing out of the ordinary in the world.

9. One of the things I get uncomfortable with psychic stuff is because people get caught up with psychic stuff when they really ought to get caught up with spiritual things.

10. I love that you can't do anything to stuff up your relationship with God. Believe me I have tried!

11. I love my giggling angel. In joke.

12. I've run out of things to say.

If there's anyone who wants to know more, throw me a thread.

Demi.

Demi,

"What if God were the Sun?" and "Crossing Over the Stories behind the Stories" are both on audio tape and you can purchase them through Pam's link at the top of the page. "One Last Time" is on audio tape as well (I have it and listened to it a gazillion times in my car) but it's not listed.

Hope this helps :)

This is the most amazing thread! Somebody was thinkin' !!!!!

1. My name is Bonni ( christened Yvonne Margaret...which explains the nickname)

2. I am not a fan of astrology, but am a Capricorn, for those of you who need to know. Born on January 12 of 1957. I have celebrated my 40th birthday 5 times, now.

3. I live in a small village in Ontario, Canada. Population 250.... if everyone is at home at the same time (and hosting a family reunion).

4. Have been married for nearly 18 years, but we played house for 2 1/2 before tying the doubleknot. My hubby is an amazing guy and spends a lot of time trying to figure me out. Keep 'em guessin' I say.

5. I am the youngest of six kids, Canadian born of Dutch immigrant parents. My five older siblings think I was spoiled, but I just stamp my little feet and say "NO!". My husband is a middle child (of five) and a classic example of middle child syndrome. Tsk, tsk.

6. I have a 23 year old son, who teaches English in Taiwan. I was thinking of going to visit him but then he told me the cockroaches can fly there, and e-mailed me a photo of a wolf spider he found beside his laundry basket...that sucker was big. I think I'll stay here. He's been home for one 6-week visit this past summer and will be home permanently in June of 2003. I can tough it out. Thank God for e-mail and phone cards.

If you've done your math you will know I was single when I had my son. My husband married the both of us and that makes him even more special.

7. My daughter is almost 17, in Grade 11. and has purple hair. Next week it will be blue. She is creative, funny, has amazing friends and keeps me honest. She has been a monk in at least two past lives and has brought to this life a love of seclusion, and a theme of morality. She shines and I love her even when she's pi**ing me off. Both of my children are classic Indigos. I have no grandchildren (hat I know of).

8. I was raised Christian Reformed and that 'religion' formed most of my core beliefs. When I am not a Christian, however, I am a Buddhist, a Hindu, a Catholic, a spiritualist, a Gnostic, Wiccan, a shaman and in a few of my darkest years have been agnostic and atheist.
I belive that all traditions and teachings have something to offer. I do not go to church now. I attend to my spiritual needs in lots of ways. My husband was raised Catholic but now takes his clubs and attends the 'Church of 18 Holes'. When it snows, he sobs (a middle child thing, I think)

9. Learned about loss in a big way during the summer and fall of 1989. Dad died of a heart attack July 10, a friend's 3 yr old died the next day of a brain tumor, another friend's hubby died on August 20 of an anuerism (at 41), and my mom died on October 3 of a heart attack. But I suspect that losing dad after 51 years pretty much broke her heart. Spent the next several months walking around with a box of kleenex. Enter.....amazing husband, to take over while wife gets her poop together. I'm sorry...can I say poop?

10. Somewhere under my 5" 11" frame, my sweatshirt and leggings and a lot of extra weight is a 165 lb vixen. But my life is awesome and the babe will have to wait til my next incarnation (or not).

11. Met my angel in a BIG way when the back wheels on the schoolbus I was driving flew off while cruising at 70km/hour. See the angel section for that scoop, I'll try to get at it soon.

12. Now comes the fun stuff. Since then, although I always felt connected to spirit, my life has made sense and all previous events became clear to me. My emotional baggage (affectionately referred to in my family as 'the Samsonite') has been replaced with shelves full of meaningful books and a connection with spirit that is strong and durable.

13. I am a Reiki master/teacher, but also have conducted classes in Vibrational Energy healing techniques, energy clearing and psychic protection.

14. I volunteer with the AIDS Committee of our Region, channelling reiki for clients who ask, answering phones, licking envelopes. I believe that it is in giving that we receive. See, I listened in Sunday School......

15. My hobbies include, sewing, knitting, cross-stitch (counted), flea markets and auction sales, and am a voracious reader of anything spiritual or related to healing, angels, reincarnation, past-lives, and on and on......

16. I have a shepherd/hound cross named Angel who is seven
( her inner puppy is only 6 months old). When I listen to Native drumming on my discman, I drag HER around the village. When I listen to 'Chant' of the Benedictine Monks, she drags me.

17. We are all owned by two cats, Garth is a stray that adopted us last year. He might be three, he's not tellin'. Zoe was rescued from the bush across the road from us last year December when she was abandoned at about 12 weeks. Living in a village, we get a lot of idiots 'dropping' off unwanted kittens. Somebody aughta take them for a little drive............

18. I own two Goldfish. I wanted to name them Filet and Sushi but my daughter had them named already when she won them at the Fall Fair, three years ago. So they are Spanky and Luna, we didn't want to confuse them by changing their names and their environment on the same day. Spanky has an identity crisis anyways....thinks he's Flipper....and has been found bone dry and near dead on the linoleum. Which leads me to wonder...do fish have Near Death Experiences? They both love Reiki and will nestle themselves in the palm of my hand when I stick my arm i the tank. OK, I'm a nut.

19. My interests include Spirit Photography ( I have a growing collection of very interesting photos ). I am currently working toward certification as a Paranormal Investigator, although I have done 'energy clearings' in homes before and 'spirit releasements' that crop up during Reiki healings, this course has given me a lot of insight into grief, loss, letting go and the nature of the spirit world. It has helped me be of help to others so it's all worthwhile. I am interested in Shamanism and am planning (with 6 others) to go to Peru (Cuzco, Cincheros and Machu Picchu) to study with some Incan healers in October of 2004. In the meantime I am trying to manifest a lottery win to finance all of these plans

20. I believe in the interconnectedness of every living thing on this earth, human, plant, animal, and the spirits of all of them.
Life is a classroom.

Holey doodle! I'm at 20 already. Darn good thing. I've run out of things to ramble about. I gotta run, I am knee high in laundry and if I don't hurry and clean spirit will be leaving me messages in the dust.

Hello Everyone,

Couldn't make it up to 20 things but am still thinking. This seems to be a fantastic place to hang out, there are so few place left nowadays where the word “spirit” can be used without ridicule or funy looks.

1.) My name is Adriaan but will respond to Adrian, Dear and Hey you!
2.) My wife Mieke and I live in the warm south (of Canada) Toronto.
3.) For two more days I’ll be 57 but I find of much more importance the number of years till retirement.
4.) We have four kids, one of which has been promoted to angel. Our “baby” is still at home but of a size that I have to be careful what I say to him.
5.) We have seen most of John’s shows since September last year and taped them so I can see them too. Maybe we like him because 95% of what he says corroborates with our religion.
6.) The most important part of my life is my family and my religion. Not necessarily in that order. At a young age Mieke had an NDE which she was unable to share with anyone.
7.) We have three darling grandkids who are worth being 24 hours behind the wheel for to see.
8.) Mieke is vegetarian (health reasons, not because she is a lousy hunter) and I’ll eat just about anything that’s on special.
9.) I'm a strong new Christian or Swedenborgian. In fact that was the “soul” reason for immigrating to Canada. Want to know why? How long do I have??
10.) I'm usually courteous and friendly and very easy going, but my job makes it quite a challenge to stay that way.
11.) I don’t get mad when people talk badly about others but feel sorry for them. We know that nobody is perfect, it doesn’t need proof.
12.) Personally I don’t get offended, I know myself too well to know there is room for improvement.
13.) Other than that I hope to win the lottery so I can really help people.
14.) We have all the kids we wanted. To us it is the crown on a marriage and more kids means more people to go to heaven.
15.) I am a busdriver with public transit company, driving myself around the bend.
16.) All through life I have found that to do exiting things is great, for a while, sailing and even flying became boring. Helping people, being useful for others is always exiting.
17.) One of the things I love doing is translate Swedenborg’s books into modern Dutch. Wouldn’t it be nice to know that what I do now will still be used a hundred years from now?
18.) The Lord leaves every human being in freedom, I am constantly attempting to do the same. Whatever I say is only my personal interpretation and opinion and not binding to anyone.

Over time I hope to meet you all (one way or another) :)

:jumper: Hello there Bonni:

My goodness, I guess when they handed out "sense of humor" you must have been at the back of the line? Perhaps you can try harder next time around -- skip the martinis before lining up, I've found! :lwink:

Welcome to our board -- can't tell you how much I love it here. Even when not posting, (my hands are much too talkative for some), this is just a wonderful place to come and find love and acceptance. Enjoy, and keep the humor flowing. This is a much too somber world in my humble opinion.

Hugs and Angels,

Hi,

Guess what my birthday is 28 September, another Libran! I'd rather be a Capricorn or Leo or Taurus though because I can never make up my mind about anything. Its a good thing that I don't have to many cloths, I would have to walk around naked because I wouldn't be able to decide!

I've been away quite a while. I drop in every once in a while to see what's going on. This thread looked like fun. Thought I'd try.

1) My real name is Nancy.

2) I'm 55 years old.

3) I've been married 32 years.

4) I have two daughters - My oldest daughter crossed over 20 years ago at the age of 9, and my youngest daughter just turned 28.

5) I have 4 stepchildren - 2 boys, 2 girls.

6) I have 11 grandchildren from these "steps". My birth daughter is not married and likes it that way.

14) I've been working very hard at trying to be a blessing to those I meet each day. Sometimes it's really hard because my natural tendency is to be a bitch.

Wow-I love reading about you all. thanks to whoever started this.

5 negatives.
1.) I've got the biggest feet of any other girl I've ever met- size 13 WIDES.
2.) I smoke. (heavier now since my son passed away.)
3.) I am a cranky b(you know)ch in the mornings.
4.) I am broke right now-37 dollars in the bank.
5.) I like men. <--this gets me into to much trouble.

15 positives.
1.) I have a zest for life.
2.) I am goofy, which makes people laugh and I love that.
3.) I have a fish named ValJean, because I found him one morning, all crusted and dried on the counter from trying to commit suicide-so I scraped him up with a spatula and stuck him back in the bowl, with intent to dump him in the toilet, and he started to swim. Hence the name, from Les Miserables.
4.) I have a tender heart.
5.) I know no stranger.
6.) I love all kinds of animals, especially cats.
7.) I have a 2 beautiful baby boys. JohnJohn is 4, and Ethan will always be 2 and half in my wonderful memories.
8.) I hate football. <---this is a good thing.)
9.) All my underwear is "Nightmare Before Chistmas" theme thongs. <--is this okay to put on here, Pam? I'm running out of good things to say.)
10.) I laugh at everyones jokes, even if they are completely idiotic.
11.) I'm in love with Steven Tyler.
12.) I am extremely spontaneous and easy going.
13.) I live in the moment, afraid of no tomorrows and looking back on no yesterdays with regret.
14.) I own only 3 pairs of shoes. <--this is good because I don't have the battle, "Well, what am I going to wear today?"
15.) I have found my purpose in life.

*shew* I felt like I was typing out a singles ad, here.

Enjoy!

-Shanna

Hi to all members of the Forum.

I have just joined this evening but my hubby & I have been watching JE since Crossing Over started on free-to-air TV in Perth, Western Australia (hello from this side of the world!). We have also read his book (the 2002 Crossing Over book) and my hubby said he'd go and see him if he ever came to Oz (this was before we knew he was coming and by then the tickets were wayyyyy gone).

So, 20 things about myself:

1. I am a libran born in 1965

2. I am convinced that my wonderful hubby is gift to me from the great being as he is absolutely what I ordered when I was 15 (we met when I was 28 and married when I was 33) and my previous partner had the same first name which is a name that I actually used to hate (which I feel was to soften me up for the main act!). The gods knew that initially I would be too much face-to-face to begin with so worked it so we were on different sides of the continent for the first year of our relationship.

3. I don't like the way I think and speak bad of people and am working hard at not doing that

4. Believe my maternal grandfather is my guardian angel and look forward to seeing him, my maternal grandmother and other passed relatives when the time eventually comes

5. Am working on my intuitive side and have had some results

6. Work as librarian and love what I do

7. Am looking forward (with trepidation) to building a "real" house this year and moving in (after renting for the past 20 or so years)

8. Love my family and extended family very much

9. Am disappointed by sceptics who disbelieve that there is a spiritual side to life

10. Try to live by the "do unto others as you would have them do to you" creed

11. Love to read - will read anything novels, newspapers, junk mail, cereal packets

12. Can lucid dream and find myself critiquing my dreams as they happen (I'm not sure if that's true lucid dreaming)

13. Would love to astral travel

14. Need to develop my prayer life

15. Need to actually practice my yoga regularly rather than once a week at class

16. Have been trying for a baby for 2+ years now and still feel ambivalent (& guilty about feeling ambivalent) about not overwhelmingly wanting a child, but believe that if it's meant to be it's meant to be.

17. Enjoy cooking for friends and family and have tonight cooked the first "meal from the heart" in our current rental (I dislike the kitchen so this is a big step for me - it's only taken 4 months)

18. Would like to own a dog and look forward to being able to once we leave rental land

19. Hope and pray that my husband's business is a huge success and he receives the credit and recognition that he deserves (he's an extremely talented artist blacksmith and he dialogues (through talking/thinking/calling to them) with previous master blacksmiths when he's feeling overwhelmed)

20. Look forward to reading more of the terrific 20 things from other contributors.

;)

Bye

 Hi Everyone!!

I’ve so enjoyed reading everyone’s posts. I feel as though I know some of you very well. Connie, I lived in Seattle for almost ten years and I loved it there. I miss the beauty of the city and the unique way that the inhabitants love their “neck of the woods.” So I am going to try to write 20 things about me here.

1. I am a California native as were both of my parents who were born in the 1920’s. Both of my children were born here, as well as all three of my grandchildren.

2. I am a child of the 50’s and 60’s and watched Kukla, Fran and
Ollie (one of the first television programs).

3. I have two wonderful daughters and three beautiful grandsons.

4. I am a middle school science and math teacher. (Because middle
school teachers teach children between 11 and 14, we have a
guarenteed place in heaven.)

5. I love almost all vegetables including beets, brussels sprouts, and
all cruciferous vegetables. But I will give away State secrets
before I will eat okra. No matter what you do to it - fry it, stew
it or try to disguise it in gumbo, it is still a slimy, bitter,
disgusting vegetable.

6. I am a singer (not professional) and “Danny Boy” is one of my
favorites. I also sang the USA National Anthem at my school
on September 11 this year.

7. On my Dad’s side of the family, aancestors emigrated from Italy andAustria/Germany. My Great-grandfather’s name is on a plaque on Ellis Island. On the other hand, my mother’s mostly Irish family has been in the USA since before the Revolutionary War.

8. I have been to Japan and visiting the War Memorial in Hiroshima
was one of the most moving experiences of my life.

9. I have been a social activist and have conducted workshops in
combatting racism, anti-semitism, and sexism, among others.

10. I am 55 years old, but am often mistaken for my daughters’ sister. (My Italian genes I think.)

11. I love to read mysteries. I like to discover a new author, then
begin reading his/her books from the earliest date to the
present.

12. I love to cook, but have little reason to do so in recent years.

13. I have several failed relationships and have decided that I
probably don’t belong in one.

14. My grandchildren are the main joy in my life. They nourish me
in ways no other person can.

15. I have lost most of the significant people in my life and I feel
some of them around me. I have been visited by my Dad’s family
in a dream. One day I mentioned to someone that I did not get
to say goodbye to a good friend before he died, and that night
he visited me in a dream and said “goodbye” to me.

16. Before I began to watch John Edwards, I was floundering in
tremendous grief. After watching Crossing Over for several
months, my grief began to subside. Finding John has been a
literal “Godsend” for me.

17. This is my first experience with a “chat-type” communication on
the computer. As I said previously, I am enjoying the experience.

18. I am a Pisces with all of that sign’s good and bad qualities.

19. I will be planting Sweet Peas soon. I love their fragrance and
they remind me of my maternal grandmother.

20. I have spent most of my life trying to grow and become a better,
more educated, and enlightened person. I intend to continue in
this way for as long as I am able.

Thank all of you for taking the time to read this and to get to know me. I look forward to further communication.

Love and blessings,

For lots of reasons, I think we could be soulmates. I've never admitted my age on the board because I just can't believe it myself -- but I'm Italian and am most often mistaken for my daughter's friend/sister. Hi Jeannie,
I agree. We probably knew each other in a former life and we are now connecting. By the way, my middle name is Jeanne. LOL. I have been so lonely for so long. A con man came into my life several years ago, and I stupidly allowed him to rob me and I lost everything. At my age, starting over has been more than a challenge. I think that this site and the boards are giving me a chance to connect with people, other than my family, again. I am glad to correspond with you. Thank you for your reply. I am looking forward to more. Do you like okra? Ugh! Ugh!

You are absolutely right. And you know what? I've always hated that name. My name is actually spelled "Jeanne", but has evolved to Jeannie because that's what most everyone calls me. When I used to hear JEANNE, GET IN HERE -- well I knew it was trouble!!! ;) I can't tell you how anxious I am to check this board every nite when I get home. Sometimes school interferes, but I sure look forward to my time with my new friends. Thanks all for being there!!!!

One more Jeannie!:lwink:

Say Ohio Jeannie - your real name is Jeanne. Another way that we are alike, even though Jeanne is my middle name. It's probably true that we are traveling the same path in different parts of the country. It's nice getting to know you!!

Hello All, I have read so many posts that I cannot remember who started all of this but I have really enjoyed getting to know everyone better. What great idea! So, here is my 20.

WOW, I am sorry....I was almost done with all 20 descriptions of me....some very personal....and realized that I will be going to JE seminar next month and my still 1% skeptical mind decided that I did not want anything out on the net about me in case I received a reading and my 1% skeptic mind wondered if .... well, somehow...you know.

So....after my seminar...I will intro myself thouroughly:shrug:

Hi everyone,

I've posted twice but I thought it would be good manners to come into the livingroom and introduce myself properly.

1. I was born in South Africa but now live in Australia and have for the past 10 years.

2. I work as a graphic designer and run a student consultancy - but I am not sure if I want to be doing graphics for the rest of my life

3. I met my husband on the internet and I am convinced it was orchestrated by a fair few 'other' individuals as the 'coincidences' that led to it all happening were too far fetched to be 'normal'.

4. My great grandmother was reportedly psychic

5. My brother shows a lot of telant but is not interested in developing his gift. For this I want to smack him in the head repeatedly.

6. I am a big dog person (as in large breeds).

7. I recently bought a chihuahua x maltese who looks like a piece of belly button lint and I love him to bits.

8. I think of myself as a outspoken and feminist individual.

9. somethimes other people probably don't phrase it as nicely :D

10. I have two two female friends who know the very depths of my soul. We're from far flung places of the globe, but we connect in a soul-deep kind of way. We are all extremely different and we're all convinced we knew each other before we got here.

11. My parents are Hindu but I went to a Jewish school for 8 years.

12. I used to sing first soprano in choir.

13. I love going to the gym. I am a self confessed gym junkie (but I don't look it!)

14. I lived in South Africa dring the apartheid regime and sometimes I still have trouble forgetting it.

15. I was once asked not to get on a train carriage with my friends because of the colour of my skin.

16. I was eight at the time.

17. I thought I was a career minded person, until I had to make a choice. I chose my family and friends.

18. I am truly lucky to have found this place where I feel I can talk about all this stuff that has been going on in my head without the fear of ridicule.

19. I think I have a crush on John Edward :goofy:

20. My name means 'beautiful eyes'.

Thank you for giving me my 15min on the soapbox. I look forward to talking with you all.

Love,
Netra

20 THINGS ABOUT ME!

4. which brought me to John Edward

17. I've developed a crush on him too!
18. Before I die I want to go to New York and Australia!

Hey all..

I haven't done this yet either... so its time to share...

1. I hope John Edward doesn't come in here and read this! What can I say... I'm a devout skeptic. Although no-one has shaken my Dana Scully alter-ego down more than Mulder J. Edward himself....

2. I love 'me too's. Clare, you liked NKOTB? ME TOO!! In 1991 I went to see them and I touched Jordan Knight! I still haven't washed the finger that scraped his jacket.

3. Yes I have!! :P

4. I first heard of John back in 2001. I heard a tune on the TV that I used to play to myself when I was a kid and I thought I made it up. It was John's theme tune! (truly...!!) I stopped making dinner and sat and watched... and watched... and still do. Its so strange the ways we all 'meet' John.

5. I'm sat in New York right now watching Kevin Richardson on Regis and Kelly.

6. I used to have 'take on me' by aha on my mobile phone ringtone.

7. I was 25 last Sunday. 25 is the beginning of the end.

8. I think Simon Cowell kicks ass.

9. I'm a cat person too. But my Tigger was killed by a scumbag who gave him anti-freeze. he was only 2.

10. I *heart* NY

11. My favourite spiritual place in the world is Portmeirion in North Wales.

12. In Starbucks, I order Caramel Macchiato with a shot of hazelnut.

13. Unlucky for some

14. I cannot live without Johnson's Clean and Clear. ooh that fresh tingly feeling!

15. I've met James Brown.. last year at the VMAs... he got me up on stage in the press room!

16. I am of the belief that Gareth Gates is the Devil.

17. I voted Darius

18. I have only 3 living blood relatives that are a regular part of my life. I think I have been to a funeral a year since I was 11.

19. I adore Nick Lea, a Canadian actor. Unfortunately the movie world doesn't. :(

20. I had an audition for Big Brother 2 UK.

21. One for good luck, seeing as 13 is unlucky for some. I'm from Liverpool.

Twenty things about me and various thoughts:
1. I have a beautiful daughter who is almost 12 (going on 16!).
2. I am a single parent and sometime it's really hard.
3. I teach high school (grades 9 through12).
4. There are a lot of wonderful young adults in the world.
5. I feel I have psychic ability, but I am not disciplined enough to work on developing it.
6. I have had many ADCs with family and friends.
7. I seem to have a good ear for letting other people share their grief...people need to talk and talk and talk about their loses. It's the best way to work through grief.
8. I'm 43 and there are way too many days I feel like I still haven't grown up. I guess it's because I thought I would be more settled in my life at this age.
9. I don't want to bring lots of men in and out of my daughter's life, but it would be nice to find a life partner. I could use some prayers to send him my way.
10. I hate to be cold (it's 3 degrees outside right now),but I hate to be hot. My favorite months are May and October.
11. I feel like a jack of all trades, master of none. Do a lot of people feel this way?
12. My favorite color is purple -- it's very royal -- but over half of my wardrobe is black!!
13. I have always liked my name.
14. I need to take vitamins.
15. I like old rock and roll.
16. I wish people in general could be a little bit nicer to each other.
17. I have to take more classes to get my permanent teaching certificate, but I hate the thought of sitting in class again. It's a stupid law. (Pennsylvania)
18. I have never been able to find the perfect purse.
19. My daughter and niece gave me the Indian name River -- they say it's because I'm like a river -- sometime slow, but never really still.
20. My favorite number is five.

I think I'll keep doing this. It's a great personal exercise!!! Thanks or the experience.

Hi river!

Welcome! We have many things in common. I am a teacher - middle school now - high school previously. I also have to finish coursework for my permanent credential and dread the idea of spending precious time in a class. I hate to be too hot or too cold, but I would rather be cold than hot (a by-product of aging). I was a single mother of two beautiful daughters who have now given me three beautifil grandsons (a little variation ). I am a good listener and have taught listening skills to adults for the purpose of helping people eliminate their grief. I can do many things but the only thing I can do very well is sing - but never tried to make it as a professional. I feel my crossed-over relatives and friends around me, but would love to have my experiences validated. I also have psychic ability, but can't "sit stilll" long enough to develop it. I definitely need a new purse, but have pretty much given up on men. I need to take vitamins and dearly love old rock and roll - but for me, that means from the 50's and 60's!! :lwink:

I hope you haven't minded the "me too's" I enjoyed reading about you and finding so many things in common.

Dear River,

The best parade of the year is on the Saturday before St. Patty's on Magazine Street. All the fun of Mardi Gras, fewer crowds, beads, cups, dubloons, plus cabbage, carrots, boxes of mac 'n' cheese, moonpies, etc. thrown from the floats plus walking "krewes" of drunken Irish/Italian guys with paper flowers for the pretty ladies.

Let me know when you're coming.

:cuser: Welcome Carl!
As a newbie here myself, trust me when I say you have found a GREAT group of people:cool:
Your background sounds so varied and interesting, I cannot wait to get to know you better. Forgive me for asking, and I understand if you would rather not say, but the Social Studies teacher in me is curious to know which war it was you fought. I am guessing Vietnam. Which ever war it was, thank you for your service to our country. It sounds like you have accomplished quite a bit so far in your life. Hope to hear from you or run into you on the boards :musicnote

Registered in 2002 on the site but I never have noticed this thread! How fun and what a great idea. Everyone sounds so great and interesting. Some of the writers are very fine! Here goes ... :cuser:

1. My name is Kathie and I am in my LATE 40's.

2. I live in Arkansas (for 41 years this year) ... I was born in Washington State and have also lived in Michigan!

3. I am married ... I have 2 sons from a previous marriage ... they are 18 and 19! So, that means 2 in college before the end of the year! AUGH!

4. I love the ocean or any body of water! I love the sound of the surf and I can sit and have the WHOLE DAY just enjoying the beauty.

5. Both of my sons are musicians and I LOVE it! They are good and it makes me so happy to see them do this together. They get along VERY well and I totally adore them both. :musicnote

6. I lost my mother in June 2001 and it was the most devastating event in my life. I still don't think I have figured out totally how to deal with it. It has majorly changed me.

7. It was the passing of my mother that brought us to JE. My sister was here for our annual trip to the War Eagle Craft Fair (hence my name! It is a family tradition and 2000 was the last year our mom went with us) She saw JE on TV while flipping channels. We've been hooked ever since. What a great help he was!

8. Fall is my favorite season.

9. I have been to see JE once so far ... San Antonio in 2001 and tho we did not get a personal reading, the woman who bought our extra ticket was the very first to be read! That was just as good! I am going this week to the seminar in Dallas. Yippee!

10. I ate peanut butter everyday when I was pregnant with my first son. I HATE beets and have since I was little. I like Chinese food!

11. I LOVE Italy. One of the greatest gifts my mom and dad gave to me was a trip with my sons to Europe. Wow! But I fell in love with Italy and want to learn the language.

12. I am a part-time worker at the moment ... I worked 14 years at our local newspaper until my mother became ill ... I have not been able to get back into anything steady since. At the moment, I am a salesperson, an auditor, a designer and a volunteer.

13. I want to start painting again ... I have not painted since college.

14. I am searching for my REASON for being here ... it is quite a task. I am searching for my passion ... I know that is a vital thing to find ... The discovery of our spiritual self is SO EXCITING!

15. I have read all of JE's books and listened to some of his tapes. I have read lots of other spiritual writers! There are some great ones out there. I adore Caroline Myss!

16. I, too, believe that "Do Unto Others" is just the basic rule for our lives!

17. I love to be alone ... I love my children; snow (watching it fall); beautiful sunsets; flowers; the internet; great art; movies; laughing; crafts; great quotes; good conversation!

18. I am going to Mardi Gras for the first time in my life! I'm crazy about New Orleans!

19. I have no pets but babysit for my dad's dog when he is out of town!

20. I love Mah Jong!

There are 20 ... it seems a bit long! :goofy:
I really liked the quote at the top of the last page I was on ...

"and So often in time it happens, we all live our life in chains, and we never even know we have the key."
-The Eagles

Speed readers, welcome! Others, BEWARE!!!! I am very wordy! Even the grammar checker says so. :lwink:

1. My name is Michelle, and many people mistake my user name as Ms. Morgan. It is not; it is my first initial and my maiden one. Most people call me M & M.

2. I'm just a country gal, laid-back and easy goin'.... but , I call it as I see it. I try not to offend anyone, and I am very considerate of others, but I don't mince words.

3. I first got turned on to JE thru the tv, and have been hooked ever since. Not hooked on JE, mind you, but hooked on the message. When I read my first JE book, "Crossing Over", I felt an immediate connection, and was shocked at all the similarities between myself and the author. Call it stretching if you will, but I like to think of it as my SpiritGuide's way to get through to me.

4. I am with Husband #2, who gave me #1 (and only) child, a son who keeps me on my toes, and 2 wonderful steps, that I wish were mine full-time. Honey keeps me hoppin' too, and he says I keep him grounded (not literally). He supports me in everything I do.

5. I am a very young 38, and proud of the experiences God and life have given me. Even though I may have done alot of things different, I know that I have learned thru them, and the journey continues.

6. I am a true Libra, and hold justice, truth, and fairness to heart. I try to find balance, when I can.

7. I love children, as well as animals. I would like to think that both are precious in the eyes of God.

8. I spent 13 years of my life with a college degree in a social services job, that left me drained, stressed, and depressed. Now I'm going back to college for my teaching degree, and am working teaching a wonderful group of 4 year olds. They teach me to constantly see through the "eyes of a child".

9. I lost my great-grandmother in 1985, the first real loss in my family for me. She was the first to expose me to talking to those who had passed, even though all my life I had such strong feelings of deja vu. I could tell what others were going to say and do before they ever did it. She was my first visitor from the other side. She is also one of my angels.

10. I am an only child, but had the priviledge of knowing a young man whom I considered a brother. Our paths crossed, and fate brought us together...it was a love of music and dancin' that made us friends. Our journey was cut short by a tragedy that happened in 1993. I will always miss him, but I'm thankful for "the dance".

11. I lost my grandfather, DaDa, in January of 1998, just six short months before my son was born. He was like a father to me, and I admired and respected him more than anyone else in my life. He is terribly missed also, but he will always live through the memories that I pass on to my son. Carry on DaDa, cheer on those TarHeels to #1.

12. I lost my biological father in January of 1999. I was a young child of divorce, and we both missed out on a helluva ride. I came to be closer to him when I remarried and became pregnant...again God had bigger plans for him. While my son does not remember him, I will make sure he will always know his other PaPa in heaven, and my daddy's blue eyes live on through my son. I, for one, will always be daddy's "stink pot".

13. I lost my precious "Scooter" in 2000, the best friend anyone could ever ask for. I think of him everyday, and although we now have "Sugar", I still call her "Scooter" all the time. Hey boy, I miss all the long afternoons out in the back yard, and I hope you miss getting those belly rubs and naps.

14. I am learning to "fly" and am a "flybaby". This life changing method may be greek to ya'll, but I'll bet someone out there knows. My life's motto is now, "When you learn to FLY, others follow".

15. As for material things, I only have one weakness. Tupperware! My husband says I would wear plastic underwear if it had Tupperware stamped on it!:D I tell him yes I would, because it would be the only pair that came with a lifetime guarantee! :laugh3:

16. I am a country music fan, and have seen most artists more than once. Next on my list: Kenny Chesney.

17. I am hoping to have my first JE experience in July. I have faith that if it was meant to be, the finances will allow me to be there. Look out ebay, here I come. ;)

18. I hope to gain some new friends along my journey here.

19. I try to communicate, validate, and appreciate everyday.

20. I believe.

'Nuff said. Hey ya'll. Pleased as punch to be here.
