NBC's 'Medium' Fits Patricia Arquette
(Friday, February 06 08:37 AM)
Patricia Arquette is in talks to star in an NBC drama pilot. It would be her first regular role on a television series.
NBC has also ordered a comedy pilot called "Never in My Wildest" and signed directors for the drama pilot "HUB."

Arquette would play a suburban mother with psychic abilities in "Medium," which is set up at Paramount Network TV, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The character uses her abilities to solve crime. "Frasier" star Kelsey Grammer's production company, Grammnet, and Picturemaker Productions are also involved.

Glenn Gordon Caron ("Moonlighting," "Now and Again") is writing the pilot and executive producing with Grammer and Steve Stark.
Arquette has appeared in a handful of TV movies in her career, but "Medium" would be her first series. She most recently starred in the Sundance film "Tiptoes" and in Disney's "Holes" last year.

Comic-turned-writer Carol Leifer ("Seinfeld," "The Ellen Show") is behind "Never in My Wildest," about two people with impossibly high dating standards who find they have romantic chemistry. The order for the pilot from NBC Studios and DreamWorks TV is contingent on casting. Leifer will executive produce with Howard Klein, Darryl Frank an Justin Falvey.

Finally, brothers Anthony and Joe Russo will direct "HUB," a drama set at a major airport starring Heather Locklear and Blair Underwood. The Russos have directed episodes of "Lucky" and "Arrested Development" and the feature "Welcome to Collinwood."

Medium New NBC Drama!
Allison Dubois (Patricia Arquette) not only sees dead people, she hears them constantly too. No, she's not crazy, although her husband Joe (Jake Weber), a rocket scientist, thought that was a possibility at first. So did Allison herself, until she realized that her "gift" could not only change fate -- but provide justice for those who no longer had a voice. Allison is as creeped out as everyone else by her other-worldly visits; plus, there are the jarring slices of disturbing crime scenes that pepper Allison's thoughts, which he uses to help doubting law enforcement agencies solve their toughtest cases. Inspired by a true story, “Medium” is from Picturemaker Productions and Grammnet Productions in association with Paramount Network Television. Glenn Gordon Caron ("Moonlighting") and Kelsey Grammer ("Frasier") are executive producers. Official website coming soon!

The show is slated to air Mondays starting in January.

Very exciting !!

How funny Meg!! I was just about to post about this!!! great minds think alike! hehehe

Before I was watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on NBC, and there was a commericial for "Medium"!! It looks really awesome!! The commericial was really cool! The woman and her husband are sleeping in bed, and she wakes up and she says something like "Are they ok?!" and he wakes up and he's like "What?" And then at the foot of the bed are all these people and she says something else and then it says "Medium" coming in January!!!

It looks REALLY REALLY GOOD!!!!!! it gave me the chills!!! hehehe cant wait to see it!!! :lwink:

Here's another update on the movie.

Welcome to the
Medium
guide at TV Tome!

In this drama, Allison Dubois (Patricia Arquette, Stigmata, Flirting with Disaster) sees dead people - and in fact, she hears them constantly too. No, she's not crazy, although her husband Joe (Jake Weber, U-571), a rocket scientist, thought that was a possibility at first. So did Allison herself, until she realized that her "gift" could not only change fate -- but provide justice for those who no longer had a voice. Don't think Allison is totally comfortable with all of this -- in fact, she's as creeped out as everyone else. Imagine a dead father-in-law popping up unexpectedly at the foot of someone's bed. Plus, there are the jarring slices of disturbing crime scenes that pepper Allison's thoughts, added to her ability to sometimes know exactly what those around her (dead or alive) are thinking. Luckily, Allison has a great sense of humor along with her sixth sense. Even Joe, whose whole career is based on logic and fact, has become a bemused believer. The real challenge is convincing law enforcement agencies around the country that Allison is the real deal.

Medium is from Picturemaker Productions and Grammnet Productions in association with Paramount Network Television. Glenn Gordon Caron (Moonlighting) and Kelsey Grammer (Frasier) are executive producers.

I'm looking forward to the show. Where I am, I think it's airing on Mondays, it's going to be back to back with my Monday night lineup on CBS! Bummer....I'll have to watch 1 and tape the other.

As for the mediums abilities to be able to change fate, I don't think so. John mentions that in final beginnings. And if we could do that, believe me, I would of!!!! Everybody would when it comes to a loved ones passing.

Much Love,
Veronica

I'm also looking forward to Medium. Don't forget, though, that the stations have taken to dirty tricks when it comes to some shows. They don't always start and end them on the hour now, just to try to keep us interested in the prior program so we don't switch channels. A dirty trick indeed. So you may have to set it for 5 minutes before, & 10 min. after.

From the previews I have seen, Medium looks like an interesting show, and they augur well for its prospects. I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed that (a) it's really as good as the previews make it look and (b) it being a midseason replacement, it doesnt get lost and die a quick (or slow) death on NBC.

I'm looking forward to it too but I hope that even though its entertainment that they can make it educational as well.

Like maybe, she wants to develop her new found ablities further with meditation and other tools and it just becomes one huge process that the public can learn to identify with over the course of the show.

I also hope they don't make it too spooky even though I love that sort of thing. I want the viewers to see what real mediumship is like and not some ideal that no medium could ever live up to.

So the first show is over and I have to say I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. In the beginning, I noticed a lot of gore but that didn't carry through the whole episode and it wasn't all that bad. The characters are really intriguing and Patricia Arquette is really endearing as the medium.

I have a feeling some of the other characters that were in the first episode will come back. I thought the relationship that developed between her and the Texas Ranger (dont know his name) is one that could grow. He's sort of the cynic-turned skeptic turned believer and thats a really good aspect to incorporate into the show. :)

OK, I missed the point in my post above. The show is based on an actual medium.

I wonder if she's really that good or if they made it seem that way because they have to squeeze everything into an hour show. I wonder if thats really how she gets her information. If it is then that's AMAZING!

I can't wait to see more. :D

 I liked it also. I also think they should have her start to learn about her " gift" They could also have the other " psychic" in a few episodes also to help her. When I saw it was going to be on thursday I wondered if they moved ER. I'm glad they didn't.

Dr. Schwartz has tested her and she has also done a reading on him. Here's what he had to say about her.

"Allison DuBois is a research medium who has successfully read for major celebrities, scientists, skeptics, and television producers. She participated in "the afterlife experiments" conducted by Gary Schwartz, Ph.D. at the University of Arizona. This study investigated the alleged talents of several of the most well-known spiritual mediums in the world, including John Edward. While Edward is the more famous, Schwartz describes DuBois as the 'Michael Jordan' of mediums, due to her amazing hit rate. DuBois' accuracy is between 70 percent and 90 percent. "

I finally got to sit down after work last night and watch it. I couldn't wait to today afterall. I was impressed with the show, and watching one of my favorite actresses play Allison was a bonus. (sorry what can I say, I'll always be a Stigmata fan.)

First impressions aside, I think I'm going to wait to descibe this show as a "great" show. You can't judge a book by it's cover, and same with tv shows. As someone said above, I'd like to see the learning aspect of the process shine though, but I'm not sure that is going to happen. Though that is not going to stop me from watching it on Thursday and then on Monday. ;)

I liked the show...

Though I am curious to see where they are going with it.

There was a Today Show interview yesterday morning that my hubby taped for me, and Patricia Arquette was the one being interviewed. I was impressed with her careful words about her character, I was pleased to learn she at least believes in the possibility.

I look forward to see what they do with this show.

There's a good review in the New York Times about the show. One comment made in it doesn't make sense to me... probably because I'm not a psychic. :)

Here it is....(For reasons that will be perfectly clear to psychics, NBC spells the fictional Allison's last name with a lowercase B.)

I can't put a link to the article on here because it asks for a membership when I try. Google still took me to it.

Pam
01-04-2005, 08:31 PM
I personally liked it and susupect that most members of this group probably would after watching, because we already know the subject matter. I will watch it again.

I liked how the writer threw in the psychic with the over-sized droopy earrings in the moo-moo for comparison to Allison's character - to show what she's NOT. I think the gorey discussion in the beginning was for the male audience.

Whether or not it has "commercial appeal" the masses (enough to remain on the schedule) will remain to be seen. One thing I will say here is that the show probably would never have been conceived, nor made it to air in prime time, had John Edward not made mediumship a household word and brought it out of the shadows. If the show is a sucess at all they have John Edward and Paul Shavelson and the crew of Crossing Over to thank.

I
I liked how the writer threw in the psychic with the over-sized droopy earrings in the moo-moo for comparison to Allison's character - to show what she's NOT.

I'm a little confused here...

I saw it as showing kind of a typical "dress for the effect" type that people percieve when they hear "psychic". I also felt that that woman was genuine psychic. (noting that she immediately detected Allison's gifts),

Did you mean that you thought the woman was fraudulent or just that you can't judge a book by its cover?

:angel2:

Pam
01-04-2005, 10:43 PM
I did not speak to the woman's abilities anywhere in my statement. In fact, I got that she was very gifted and authentic, that was pretty clear to me. But she was a stereotype, you pretty much say that yourself, (stereotypes don't typically truly exist) and I'm glad that the writers wanted to show that Allison didn't fit the typical stereotype of what people think of when they think of "psychic".

AngelsMailroom
01-05-2005, 03:55 AM
Yeppers. We're in agreement here. I know that you didn't mention the other psychics validity, which was why I asked you. I was fairly certain that we both felt the same about it, but wasn't really positive, and wanted to know if you disagreed with my assessment, how u came to that conclusion. :P one problem with typing is the others can't hear the inflections in our voice!

starlasue
01-05-2005, 08:37 AM
I enjoyed it and resonated with her asking why she gets info when she can't even 'get' a simple storm that would wash away evidence (body). I think that is a big issue for many who do have developed psychic abilities - why do they get some things and others just go by the way.

Kudos too to her husband for being open and understanding. My hubby resonated with his character. 'Course he is very glad I have no gift remotely so defined as Allison's - he's not sure how he'd handle that! lol

I really liked her contact with the other psychic. The big earrings weren't lost on me either. I think that was for TV and to help the other character remain in her 'yeah, okay, whatever' mindset. But the look on that character's face as Allison and the psychic began conversing was priceless. I have SEEN that look! lol But it also points out that not every psychic who dresses a little oddly is a hoax. I know many people who AREN'T psychic who dress like that. :) It also shows how connections are made between/among those who have recognized their abilities - great or small abilities; somehow we gravitate to each other. hmmmm Wonder why? :lwink:

I think the show has potential even beyond those of us who already have this as part of our spiritual beliefs. We might be surprised. I only hope that they keep doing it with integrity. Time will tell. I'll be taping for sure!

From http://tv.zap2it.com/tveditorial/tve_main/1,1002,271|92745|1|,00.html

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) It no longer takes a psychic to predict big things for NBC's paranormal procedural "Medium." The Patricia Arquette drama premiered on Monday (Jan. 3) night to strong ratings, improving on its "Las Vegas" lead-in.

"Medium," which features Arquette as Allison DuBois a housewife who uses her specials gifts to solve crimes, drew 16.1 million viewers for its first episode, more than doubling NBC's season-to-date average for that 10 p.m. ET time period. It was the largest audience for an NBC drama premiere since "Someone Like Me" started in March of 1994. Overall, it was NBC's highest rated drama premiere since "Ed" in 2000. The drama had a 6.3 rating among adults 18-49, nearly beating CBS' powerhouse "CSI: Miami," which had a 6.7 rating in the important demographic. It was NBC's best 18-49 performance in the hour with regular programming since an "Average Joe" episode back in March 2004.

Sounds like there were more than a few viewers. If this keeps up, we can expect to see "Medium" get renewed.

I noticed TV Guide gave it an 8 out of 10 and had some very good comments about it. One thing I'm wondering about .... I definitely like how they show Allison as having human qualities. Yes she may be psychic but she can't know everything at all times, and that she can't remember everything. It shows that they aren't perfect and can have their doubts. I think this show is heading in a great direction!

I got to watch it today finally. I enjoyed it, and noticed alot more humor in it this time around. The one-liners made me laugh in unexpected places.

I do have a question though...anyone remember after the pilot they announced upcoming episodes, and they showed one with Allison's daughter having more and more experiences. I thought, maybe that would be the next one they showed, but that's not the preview they showed next. I guess maybe that is an upcoming one in the future. Who knows?

Overall still   .

Poor, poor Carson Daly...

I was pleasantly surprised to see Patricia Arquette on Last Call with Carson Daly tonight. She was there, promoting the show and doing a wonderful job. Carson then asks her if she is a believer in psychics. She replies by saying that she has seen many who are right on, like Allison Dubois, but she has also seen many charlatans. Carson then takes out a copy of one of John's books and proceeds to call him a charlatan because John didn't read him the last time he was on his show. I don't have a problem with Carson and I watch his show if I'm up that late, but his comment disappointed me more than it angered me. Despite John's explanations to Carson about how mediumship works (and his explanations were detailed if I remember correctly) he just didnt get it, and apparently still doesn't.

He asked Patricia what she thought of John, but she replied that she doesn't know enough about him to make a decision. She did say she met him the day before she started filming the show, though. :)

Yes i am watching Carson too! And i think Patricia A. did very well answering his questions. And wasn't it interesting that she made the comment she saw JE the day before the filming hummmmm!!! Was that a coincidence are do you think JE is tutoring her. Hee! Hee!

I just love the way JE composes himself, with these talk show people. But, i have come to understand what my beliefs are. Wonder if Carson has ever lost someone close to him.

Thanks for letting other's know you did very well giving everyone a bleep of the Carson show.

That's cool Patricia was on Carson's show last night. I remember when I was in the audience of Last Call with Carson Daly when John was a guest, I remember Carson had said specific things about his dad, something about a car, and i think a tattoo on Carson's arm, or something in that nature. And John politely said now if he did read him how he would have to work harder because he just gave away details about his dad who has passed. I think Carson even bargained to pay him money, but John declined to the money thing. I think he said he could read him after the show, or made some comment like that. But John definitely explained himself to the best of his abilities in the short amount of time--it literally felt like 7-10 min. It was still cool being a part of the audience for John's appearance. They didnt air it til about a week or so later. I had taped that episode, but I think by accident I taped over it. But Carson is...well Carson. He's an interesting character. lol

That's awesome that Patricia said she did get to meet John before they started filming. I wonder what he thinks about the show and if he is watching. :)

Just a reminder since today is Monday, Jan. 17th, and a holiday in the USA, "Medium" is on tonight.

Since it doesn't feel like Monday to me, I have to remind myself to watch it. :)

Just finished watching it. That show is so good and the hour goes so fast!!! But so true to life, we get things and don't usually understand them until later. Ref: the dreams in pictures and the flashes while at the scene.

I was wondering about the show, "Medium." I know it is based on a real medium but are the stories based on fact? Does the real medium work with the police? Just curious. It is a very good show and I like how they portray her as such a "regular" person!

Hi Nancy, and welcome!

You know, it's funny...I had just ASSumed that the show was based on a true story, I guess I never really read it anywhere. So I googled it, and the only thing I could come up with the definitively stated it was based on Ms. Dubois' life was from scifi.com...
"

Arquette Talks Medium Well

Patricia Arquette, star of NBC's upcoming supernatural series Medium, told SCI FI Wire she was a little worried about taking on the job of portraying a real person, Allison Dubois, who says she has psychic abilities. The series, based on Dubois' life, explores what happens when an average wife and mother begins to work with the police to help solve missing-persons and murder cases.

"Before we even shot the pilot," Arquette said in an interview, "I went out to meet her and said, 'Are you really ready for this? This is going to be very weird. Pretty quickly things are going to have to separate off from you. And I don't want you to have your feelings be hurt or have you upset if you call and say, "Me and [my husband] Joe didn't have that fight."' I'm not having that problem, because at a certain point they're going to have to go with dramatic license."

Arquette added, "Right away I said, 'Here's some aspects of your personality that I know right off the bat I'm going to change, just because for TV it will be clearer in some kind of way' or 'These are things that I want to experiment with.' Yeah, there's a fierce responsibility, but we had that conversation early on, and we knew what we were getting into here, I hope."

For Dubois, who says she has seen ghosts and asserts that she has been able to tap into the thoughts of the living since she was a child, talking to the dead isn't nearly as strange as watching her life being played out on television. "Seeing my life on TV," Dubois said in a separate interview, "it was very profound for me when I watched the pilot for the first time, because I felt that I had this whole world inside of me that other people didn't understand, and to see it laid out in front of my eyes, I've never had to look at who I am before. In that respect, it was very moving to finally ... feel understood on many levels." Medium premieres Jan. 3 at 10 p.m. ET/PT and will air Mondays in that timeslot. NBC is owned by NBC Universal, which also owns SCIFI.COM."

Whether its' 100% based on Ms. Dubois' life or not, I love the show and think it has some really great potential to help break the stereotypes about mediumship.

Last night's ending was really cute. I won't spoil it for others who haven't seen it yet. :)

The shows would have to be very loosely based on actual events to protect the privacy of any real people involved in them.

The show is based on the book that Ms. Dubois wrote, called "Don't Kiss Them Goodbye" which is her own true account of her work, available at Amazon:

Editorial Reviews
About the Author
Allison is a 32-year-old psychic research medium and law enforcement profiler. She has had her gift validated through scientific research at the University of Arizona as being highly consistent and accurate. She is considered a "Michael Jordan" of mediumship and ranks in Dr. Gary Schwartz' "Dream Team" as being one of the top in her field. She has worked personally with law enforcement agencies such as the Texas Rangers on missing persons' cases. She has proven accurate at profiling murderers as well as helping to find the whereabouts of missing persons'. She is the topic of the NBC prime time drama "MEDIUM". She has also been featured on the national radio show "Edge of Reality" on the Talk of America Network for call in readings. She also does personal readings and public tours. Her direct style of "don't make the information fit" and her fresh, straight forward outlook allow her to connect with a broad spectrum of the public. She does not have the stereotypical, niche, "new-age" psychic image. She has an every-woman appeal which combined with her age allows her to reach younger markets than are typical to this genre. In addition to her unique abilities she is also the mother of three little girls. They carry her unusual abilities as well as her straight forward personality and vibrant sarcasm.

Product Description:
The TRUE STORY of the woman who inspired the NBC television show "MEDIUM". While interning in Homicide with the county attorney's office, Allison DuBois found she could do something remarkable. As she laid out crime scene photo's & gathered information for trial, she realized that she could see the crime through the eyes of the perpetrator. This experience prompted Allison to examine the full extent of her abilities. She reached a juncture. Instead of running from her uniqueness, she decided to fully own it. Allison connects with her readers on a very personal level as she chronicles her walk through her personal wonderland.

So far I'm really impressed with the show. I was a little skeptical when the first commercial I saw had her popping up in bed with a whole crowd of dead people standing around her like patients in an ER, but the actual episodes have been really good I think. She gets what she gets and she doesn't always understand what it means or what she's supposed to do with it, but she sticks to what's coming through no matter what. Hmmm...sounds familiar.:lwink:

It's nice to see mediumship portrayed acurately on TV even if it is a fictionalized version of someone's life, but, I have to admit, it makes me miss the nonfiction version. It's a really good show, but it doesn't touch my heart the way Crossing Over did - still does. I'm sure having the "fiction" show will increase awareness and hopefully educate more people out of the idea that medium's should be all knowing and all seeing, and that's a good thing.

I am really enjoying the show. I love the fact that her husband, even though he can't fully understand what's going on with her, is fully supportive and encourages her to pursue her abilities.

I wonder if the cases it's shown her working on are based on actual cases that she has participated in, or fictionalized for the program. Any one read the book yet? I've ordered it and can't wait to get it.

Thanks for the info on the show (Medium). That makes it even more interesting to watch knowing that it is based on her true experiences. I plan to get the book, too. It seems to me that even though the show hasn't been on very long it gets better each time. I hope it does well in the ratings!

Hey there Heather - good to see ya! I haven't noticed you here lately - or else I'm not paying attention!

Hubby and I are enjoying the show. We cracked up several times at this week's episode. I think the new detective she worked with this week could be quite a foil and his character has room for develoment.

I am taping these shows and keeping them. It's my insurance to be SURE it gets picked up for a new season! :) (My logic is if I didn't keep them the show would be cancelled and I'd never see them again - this way..... well... lol)

I liked the explanation she gave her daughter when her daughter said " but you said he'd be here !" She told her daughter " he is here with you and here ( touching her chest) and here ( touching her head) " Got a little emotional  . I thought the end was cute when the little girl asked her where her imaginary friend was and she introduced her to her friend after being told he had to go away.

I thought last night's show was really a good one. It made me cry to think the little boy was "stuck" at the playground. Do you think that happens? And it made me cry to think the only friend the little girl had was a crossed over spirit. Painful for the parents to realize she has the same gift which might make her appear "different." I didn't expect to get emotional, but I had the kleenexes out!

I thought about that too...it seems to me that he was stuck there because he was afraid to let go and move on, so his spirit couldn't release itself and move on to the other side. I believe that there are "helpers" on the other side, whose job it is simply to help children cross over, and I think that one of them would have helped the boy in that scenario.

Remembering that they do not experience the sense of "time" that we have, Bobby could have felt he has been there a week, or a day, not languishing for 5 years in tears. He did appear to be having lots of fun with Allison's daughter, whose name I can't remember for the life of me!

I believe that his "helpers" were there to guide him to a little child who could see him, since he didn't seem to appear to trust adults. That the little girl was Allisons daughter was more than a 'coincidence' don't you agree?

:angel2:

Well, I think that the issue with adults was that they usually couldn't see him, not that he didn't trust them per se. Didn't Allison say something like "I know, I'm probably the first grown-up that has been able to see you for a long time, huh?"

It seems like Bridget needed a friend and so did Bobby...so they kind of filled each others' voids in that respect. At the end of the show, it seemed like Bridget was more comfortable relating to another child.

I definitely agree that you've raised a good point about the issues of having a sense of time as we know it...hadn't thought about that one :hmm: And as far as him being led to Bridget by his 'helpers', you know what we say about 'coincidences' :D

I was cracking up, though, when the Dad was trying to schedule a play date for his daughter...it really can be that tricky sometimes...when I was little, we would just run outside and play with whoever was around...now everything has to be scheduled! :goofy:

Jude

The scheduling of a play date was pretty funny, although a sad commentary of our times!

I do like the way the family is portrayed as "normal" -- about as normal as you can be with a psychic for a mom ;) -- their house is not perfectly kept, the children are not always perfectly groomed, and Allison sleeps in big t-shirts and shorts!

Hubby and I noticed that her house is like ours! Guess some of us are in the same boat - just too many more interesting things to spend time on than keeping a perfect house! :lwink: Susie HomeMaker I am not! rofl

I did like this show and the dynamics of the girl's struggle with beginning to understand her 'gift'. It is at that age where most children with intuitive gifts really begin to notice their differences from other children. Even the interaction between the sisters was more or less realistic. Most of the time it is a time when they are told to stop the 'odd' behavior and conform. I wonder how many people have had their spiritual journeys sidetracked that way. It must be a delicate balance for a parent like Allison to have nurtured her daughters through the process and learning to keep the gift but also fit in with others.

The little girl befriending her at the end is a reasonable scenario especially if the other girl was also shunned by classmates for 'odd' behavior. Having realized that Bridgett's playmate was no longer around, she may have intuitively realized that she needed a new friend. Plus Bridgett's guides may have had something to do with it. I thought it was a sweet touch!

I give this series

Oh and my number of posts don't support that I spend too much time here nor do I spend too much time watching TV or reading. {cough, cough}

I just took a look at Allison's web site and she has a great link to a video you would all like to see. It's on her home page and it's by Jim Manley of the Phoenix ABC affiliate. It shows Allison working with Dr. Schwartz. There is also a scene with John in it. It's just to the left of the picture of Allison with Dr. Schwartz.

There was no way I knew of to link directly to the just the video from here.

Yes it is true, i emailed her this am and she validated with this email. Thank you so much for giving me her web site. I have been so depressed lately and i thought what the heck e-mail her, never in a hundred years would i think i would get this; here it is.

You son isn't "roaming" aimlessly. He is vibrant and happy and with you. The little girl is a child lost in your own family telling you your son is Ok. The phone call was from Tyler. He didn't know how to come through physically yet himself. He knows why you were so worried about him all the time. He's with "the old man" seems like a grandfather. You will seem him in dreams be patient it's soon, you already talk to him and he hears you.
Take care of yourself and know he's not gone.

I am feeling so much better after this validation i had to share this with you because you gave me the site to look up. Thank you so much.

I Thank all of you, i think without you and this site. How could i ever so cope with all this. After reading her site and seeing her book with her taking that child's hand i thought to myself from a mother to a mother, she has to feel my pain and wonder. I am ordering her book today. I still can't believe but am so ever thankful she took the time to answer my e-mail. and that she was right, if you read my e-mail from her the little girl i saw and she validated it being someone we had lost in our family, which was my brothers daughter Megan, who died 3 days after her birth with a dx of left hypoplastic heart i was with megan every day until she took her last breath she would of been a year older than Tyler, Yes i talk to Tyler, every day. and the "old man" could be either of my grandfathers tyler never met my mothers father but he did meet my dads father he was only 3 when my fathers dad died at the ripe age of 90 something, so since she said old, i would say it is him and Tyler loved my dad's Farm, which that grandfather help my dad Farm and was with my son we both of them were alive, But it is all so interesting. I have tickets to see John Edward in Chicago Ill May 20th. I am so excited and that is beyond the 6 month period.
i am stillin shock she responded so soon but, in a mothers desperation why not!

I can't say enough about this show - I love it! I love the writing. The writers really seem to have a good grasp about mediumship. They dealt with the issue of "interpretion" as Carolyn said, and I like how they dealt with "the higher source" and how the Alison character is not particularly "religious". Not only is the show entertaining, it has the potential to be educational for the general public, taking the fear and mystery out of ADC.

I have yet to see one episode that isn't smart, engaging, and cleverly written. I love it, and don't know how the cast and crew can pull off something like this every week. It's like watching a mini movie every time its on. Can't wait for the next one.

The creator of the show, Glenn Gordon Caron, has ties to WNY, so the local NBC station is doing a series of interviews with him. They've promoed that included in that series will be a story about "Medium" and an interview with Alison Dubois. When that interview is available I'll post a link.

Thanks, Carolyn, that'll be great! I'm looking forward to the next episode, too -- of course, I say that every week! ;)

In this week’s, Feb. 20-26, 2005 TV Guide….CHEERS and JEERS section.

CHEERS to NBC for gazing into the future and giving Medium a rare early renewal for 22 episodes in it’s second season. We couldn’t have predicted that Moonlighting creator Glenn Gordon Carson’s above-the paranormal drama about a psychic, (Patricia Arquette) who helps the DA’s office solve crimes would break out as mid-season’s hottest new hit. But now that we’re hooked on the show, we’re glad that we’ll continue to have visions of Arquette’s Medium well into next year.

I have a question about last week's episode of Medium. Does anyone understand how the little girl who was alive was able to contact Allison's daughter and was she AWARE that she was contacting her daughter. Was it just that the daughter was able to pick up on the little girl's "vibes?" I'm just curious as to how this could happen???

I think the term is "Telepathy". I think the point was that Allison's daughter is a "sensitive." I'm paraphrasing here, but the daughter asked Allison, "why did she reach out to ME?" and Allison answered, "because she knew you were listening."

Interesting. I do remember her asking that now that you mention it. Thanks for the info.
