We had a wonderful evening in Houston last night! I attended with my husband, my brother, and my sister-in-law. It was a small group, about 30 people, in an intimate setting, which was actually quite nice. The atmosphere was very relaxed which enabled everyone to meet and greet Mary Jo, to get their books signed, and for the attendees to do some mingling on their own, both before and after the event.

Mary Jo began by giving a brief account of what it is that she does and how she does it. I know there were some people there who hadn't yet read the book -- like the 3 people that accompanied me! ;) By the end of the evening, all questions were answered, and in more ways than one.

After describing how she's able to do what she does, Mary Jo went on to assure us that we can all learn to hear our own inner voice by following some simple steps and by practicing.

She did not go into any lengthy discussion of her book because she said she knew we were all interested in watching her work, and that we could learn from that.

We had each received a ticket stub with numbers on it when we arrived, and the other half of each ticket was placed in a bowl. After her lecture, Mary Jo drew a ticket stub, and the person with that number was allowed to ask a question.

One by one, each person in attendance was able to ask a specific question, whether it was regarding a job or career, a relationship, a health issue, a dream, or a question regarding their soul's journey/life purpose.

I did find it odd that the majority of the questions were regarding careers and jobs. It is presently a major issue in my sister-in-law's life, and therefore my brother's, so I'm sure it was no coincidence that we were all there together.

By accessing her Guides, Mary Jo was able to tell each person a little about themselves, where they were presently, and where they should be headed. I do believe that Mary Jo was amazingly accurate, judging by the responses of the attendees.

Although she is not a medium, Mary Jo was able to receive information for a few people about loved ones who had crossed. At one point, one young man asked a question, and in the middle of her response, she asked about someone named Charles, who was coming through. After a very loud, quick intake of breath, he validated that he did, indeed, have a Charles on the other side. Obviously, Charles had a message for him!

I will say that Mary Jo did have her books and Symbol Cards available for purchase, which was helpful. My sister-in-law was able to buy Cracking the Coconut Code and have Mary Jo sign it.

I had been speaking to one of the other attendees, and when I returned, I saw that my husband and brother had bought their own decks of Symbol Cards! I asked my husband why he bought them since I had a deck at home, but he said he wanted his own because I've already been "touching" mine! :D I had given a deck and 2 other books by Mary Jo to my sis-in-law for Christmas, but I guess my brother will now have his own Symbol Cards, as well.

The lecture was recorded on a simple audio cassette tape, but I was able to order a copy, which will be sent by mail. It'll be great to have it all on tape, especially since each person was able to have his/her question answered.

I'll admit that I could not think of one thing to ask Mary Jo when my number was pulled. My family thought I'd lost my mind. :goofy: Mary Jo just said to try to think of something and to remind her before we left.

I did get to ask my question later, during the book-signing, but it's not on the tape. No matter -- it was a validation for me, a confirmation, and I'm not likely to forget what she said!

I asked Mary Jo about the smell of cigarette smoke around me sometimes, that has even awakened me out of a sound sleep. She went on to describe a certain female, a smoker, and said "it's who you already think it is." I've suspected, even believed I had a dream validation a few years ago, but that confirmed it for me.

Mary Jo had asked me where I lived, then introduced me to a married couple that, as it turns out, lives nearby. They are the co-founders of a group that meets once a month and has guest speakers. The other founder of the group does some Angel readings, I believe, and they said she is quite good, as well. They send out a monthly newsletter with the date of the upcoming meeting, the name of the guest speaker and the topic of discussion, and any other pertinent information about upcoming events in our local area.

I'm so happy to have made some contact with like-minded people in my area, and I have to thank Mary Jo for that!

NOT coincidentally, while the couple I met lives nearby, the monthly meeting is held only about 3 miles from my brother's house!

I first heard of Mary Jo when I read her name in the back of JE's book, One Last Time. I had always told myself, "one of these days..." but I never got around to contacting her. I knew she had a following in the New Orleans area because she is practically a "local", being in Baton Rouge, and has been on the radio there for quite some time. What surprised me, though, was that I met a few people who said they had been following her work for 10 years or more. I believe that the couple that lives near me said they had attended a "retreat" with Mary Jo some years ago.

All in all, it was a wonderful and very rewarding night. The atmosphere was so relaxed and Mary Jo is so warm and personable -- very approachable -- that it was just a lot of fun.

If Mary Jo is coming to an area near you, you won't want to miss this opportunity. I think you may be pleasantly surprised.

One more thing I should mention -- I was able to have a personal reading with Mary Jo while she was in town. I've got the tape and I'm transcribing it, because I'm one of those people who has to see it in black and white. ;)

After making some connections with other people at last night's event, something that Mary Jo said to me in my reading, regarding my own path, hit me full force.

Synchronicity is at work again; a plan is unfolding.

Mary Jo's son, Bhrett, was right when he said that you need to listen and listen again, maybe even transcribe the tape to get the full effect.

I'll write more about my private "soul reading" in a separate thread very soon, but probably not today.

Edited to add: Now you know why I had a hard time coming up with a question for Mary Jo! I had just had my private reading with her! Of course, I have thought of three more questions today...

Sounds like a great evening, Jude!

How cool that her lectures are taped! <hint to JE :lwink: > I think maybe we're getting a great opportunity to see her before the rooms get really big. Like JE back in the empty seats at the Holiday Inn days. I'm so looking forward to June. I'm going to see her in SF, and I'm going to try and get to Sacramento too. Maybe she'll have some insight into where I might find a medium who will let me tag along for awhile and document readings.

The group that meets near your house sounds interesting. Is it like at all like a development circle? What sort of speakers do they get? Pretty neat that they're right in your backyard. :)

I am amazed that your husband and brother bought angel cards. That is definitely not something you hear about every day. In fact, a husband who buys himself angel cards may be more rare and harder to come by than a really gifted psychic. :laff2: That's really cool! The man deserves a big hug. :clink:

I can't wait to hear about your reading! Especially the part about your life path that hit you "full force".

Patiently waiting........

Thanks TXJUde for your report. I think I know who you met with and they are wonderful people.

MJ used to and plans on some future retreats. They are always a lot of fun, as they are generally Fri to Sun for 35-40 people. They are in-depth and work to develop your own abilities. She does not have any planned at this time though.

Sandra -- I don't know much about the group yet, but I gave them my e-mail address and hope to find out more soon. It sounds like they're a little bigger than a "circle," however. Seems that they may be outgrowing their usual meeting place and might have to move to a larger one.

I'll relay what you said to my husband -- he'll love it, I'm sure! ;)

Any chance Mary Jo might schedule a retreat in San Francisco? We'd love to have her!
