View Full Version : Reading myself

I'm slowly learning the cards, using my "Quick and Easy" Rider-Waite deck and my regular one.

Last night I stayed at my daughter's house and decided to try the Tarot games on here. To my surprise, I got a correct answer. :) My daughter came back from her evening out and had some questions she wanted answered by doing a reading on herself. She does the Celtic Cross Spread. The cards always fall just right for her and her questions are always answered. They literally come out of the deck for her to pick. They told her what she wanted to know.

She looked at me and asked if I had a question for myself. Now Valerie has tried doing readings on me many times and nothing that makes any sense shows up in the cards. It's like she is blocked from reading me. I asked for a past, present, future reading on my health. The three cards she put down had nothing to do with health or anything else meaningful for me. :(

I asked if I could try. I took her deck, shuffled it, asked my question and looked at the cards. One card was showing more back than the others so I put it face down. The other two stuck out more and I pulled them, putting them face down.

I turned them up, one by one. All three were upright and answered my questions. Valerie and I can't remember the first two but the first one signified good health in the past, which is true. The second signified good heath in the present, I am very healthy for my age, and the future card was the Nine of Cups.

" This is the Wish Card -your deepest desire is granted. A problem is solved. Satisfying sexual relationships. (Don't know about that one  ) Emotional peace. Goals are achieved. Take time to enjoy your success and revel in it's rewards. Material possessions are attained. Physical fitness and beauty."

I'm happy with my answers.

Gail, how cool! I wonder though, what games were you referring to? Makes me think I missed something - :o

P.S. I am so glad your own cards worked out. I have tried a card or two for me and my husband and they seem to be pretty much o.k.

Thanks, Ellen

They are really learning experiences for me with the Tarot Cards. Take a look at the "Name that Symbol" thread in the Tarot forum. It's helping me see and identify symbols on the cards, and have fun doing it.

It's an educational game. :)

Oh, now I see:hearts:

For heaven sake, I am so far behind here that I actually thought I was first for a while.....:D

I will check out that thread. Trying to get Christmas stuff done, not enough hours in the day lately.

Thanks Gail!

Hi Gail and Ellen,

I would love to play the symbol game, but sadly (sigh) I have a different deck which I really love and seem to be connected to. At least I have done some really interesting readings and the feedback has been positive. Not that I have done a huge nuimber.

Don and I have some fun, (using his Quest deck and my Gilded deck) for the same question. THAT is really interesting. He uses reverses, I don't. His reverses are set up totally different than the RW. He uses a special (my face grimaces just watching) shuffling and choosing method, I don't and we still came up with pretty much the same conclusions. I don't have a specified layout and he has chosen to copy, but he's shopping for the one that means something to him. By the way, he does a fantastic job at reading tarot.

I guess I have chosen to consider the tarot cards as a help partner and a learning tool to get my intuition working on a higher level. Which ultimately means learning to trust your intuition and your interpretations. Even though Don and I certainly come from different perspectives, the cards still told the same story. Isn't that neat.

I usually don't go to the book, but sometimes I have to check the book, but only until one word or phrase jumps out, and then I know I can go back to the card and dig in. The more I practice on people the easier and more enjoyable it becomes. Things start to crackle and you can feel the excitement around you. Learning is so much fun, but like everything else, you have to practice, practice, practice.

One thing Don's book mentioned is not to ask to have a question read more than once, because that intimates a doubt factor of intuition and my book said the same only in different words. Strange but true. Our ways of learning and interpreting are as numerous as the dust bunnies under the bed (at least at my house). Spirit guides work with everyone differently, and your perspective is unique, and your strongest claire has to be dealt with as well as the weaker ones. They all need to be strengthened and sustained.

I'm so glad you had success!!! That goes a long way on the road to learning.

Okay, I'm done. It just very interesting all the different ways people do things.

Up until now, I was reluctant to try using the cards. I had to break through an unconcious blockage from years of being conditioned to think they were bad. I love my Catholic faith but it is very good at piling the guilt onto people. :)

The Tarot Cards are not bad, but a wonderful tool for getting advice from the other side. I've seen what good can be done with them from my daughter and from many others of you on here.

Here's a tidbit for you.

They have physical evidence of a tarot deck from the 14th century put out by the catholic church. I thought it was extraordinary, but politics have made stranger bedfellows all through history.

Make ya feel better.

Plus, using the cards is not calling outside spirits in to confuse and annoy, it's your own spirit guides and higher self that do all the work. What better partners would you like.
