Keep it simple! In assembling and writing the affirmations for FriendsCommunities, we’ve tried to follow this principle. Most of the affirmations are 10 words or less. A few a longer but worth the trouble of remembering.
Speaking of Remembering – write it down! The act of writing out the affirmation supports the affirmation. It’s another way to bring the energy of the affirmation into your life. You might want to keep some sticky notes next to your computer and when you log on for the affirmation of the week, write it down several times and put it in places where you’ll, see it, read it, and activate it.
Repeat it often; make a point of bringing the energy of the affirmation into your conscious thinking at least 7 times daily. The more you do this, the more a part of your unconscious the affirmation becomes and begins to manifest.
Keep in mind that the change will happen! Don’t be surprised! But also keep in mind other things you say or do that might undermine what you’re affirming. If you’re affirming that you’re slender and then a dozen times during the day, you remark how fat you are or how much weight you’ve gained since high school or since the kids were born, the positive affirmations are wasted breath. If you find yourself undermining the affirmations, make a point of overriding the negativity. Catch yourself being negative and then repeat the positive affirmation.
