How does one stay motivated in a current job they really dislike while they move forward toward a career they feel is more suitable to them?

Thanks for posting the question! It’s one I hear a lot too. It is very difficult to stay in a job you don’t like. You want to do a good job but at the same time you want to get out and do something different.
I believe the key is not to be impacted by the negativity around you. Stay as centered as you can and realize that you do not and should not take on everything else in your environment. If you go in to work with a positive attitude, you will likely keep that attitude throughout the day.
The other key is to know in your heart and soul that there is a different job awaiting you. You may not know where it is or when it will happen but have faith that it will happen. Although it is tempting, the last thing you want to do is quit a job before you have a new one…unless that job is physically or emotionally damaging your health. Take breaks during the day – physical breaks will work best like a walk outside or away from your desk.
You must also be actively taking steps to move in the direction you want to go and to find that ideal job. If you are just “thinking about” changing jobs, you’ll get easily frustrated. If you are engaged in the process of a new job or career search and taking action, even small steps, you will find it easier to stay motivated in your present job.
I also recommend taking advantage of any career counseling that is available to you. Lots of schools and colleges offer counseling to their alumni and also services to the public. Of course, a life coach could also help you develop a action plan towards reaching your goal. ;) Maria, our Resident Astrologer, also recently told me about an area of astrology known as “Vocational Profiling”, a technique which can help you see your potential talents and abilities.
Great question, Laura, thanks again! If anyone is interested in pursuing this topic in more detail, please email me! :hearts:
Blessings,
Beth
