Can anyone who attended the Salt Lake City seminar give us a report? I would love to hear all about it.

I missed out on tickets to New Haven. I don't get on the computer as often as I used to and I didn't learn about the CT date until it was too late. It would have been a six and a half hour drive from here. I'm still hoping he may have a seminar closer to my part of New England!

In the meantime, I really enjoy hearing from the others here on the board. It gives us all the feeling of really being there.

Thanks everyone!

It was fabulous, of course.

I had intended to take careful notes so I could post a full report here. But halfway through I realised my notebook was still sitting on my lap, completely empty so this is all from memory. Everyone else who went, PLEASE add all the things I'm missing.

We arrived about 2 hours before the doors were to open only to find that the hotel was refusing to let us stand in line. After encouraging people to go shopping (and not getting any takers) they starting putting us in smaller meeting rooms. My group was fortunate to be in the first room, which held about 75. After that was full, they put people in a smaller room, and then held everyone else in the lobby. The lady in charge even came and told us they'd opened the lounge early, just for us, so we could go wait there instead. I didn't see anyone leave.

They opened the main room about 5:15. The room was set up in 2 long sections, each about 12 seats across, with a wide aisle separating them. We were about 7 rows back on the inside aisle. I noticed one stationery camera about halfway back and then there were several other camera people constantly walking around shooting.

The seminar started with an the local DJs talking and introducing Jesse. They put Jesse on the spot when they made him to his JE impression....it was great! John was already on stage by that time (standing ovation). He was wearing jeans, tennis shoes, and a sweater under a black leather jacket. He was also wearing his glasses. Because we were filming, we had some instructions (people who get read are handed a yellow ticket...they were to stay after to be film for post-analysis). We were encouraged not to leave, which is different from my other seminar, and I'm sure it had to do with the filming part.

He started by explaining that this seminar had been scheduled by the Other Side. It seemed to be surprising to him that he was there and that there had been such short notice. He said that he was there to bring information for people who were not actually going to be in attendence. We spent awhile talking about being open to the process and he asked us how many of us are open to receiving messaged from ANYONE, not just who you are hoping to hear from. Almost everyone raised their hands. He called us all liars and we all laughed. He then explained that there WOULD BE messages for other folks and asked us to please, please be open and willing to pass them on.

John lead us in a short mediation. We all did some hand rubbing, then visualization (beach, light, etc.) and all asked our loved ones to come through clearly and slowly, etc. John said we wouldn't take a break, and before he was even reading he was having trouble with the microphones. He explained that's common, having to do with all the energy around him, and that he routinely goes through several mics when taping the show. He said he usually wears several at a time when taping so that it won't matter when one cuts out.

During the lecture part he mentioned having had several WTC victims come through. He says that some have shown him uniforms (police, fire) and that they feel very honored to have been in service. He said that after they identify in that way, they come through pretty much like everyone else.

Questions and answers: most of the questions were about the process and John's perception of the Other Side. I honestly can't remember most of the questions. I remember thinking that most of his answers I already knew from reading his books.

I'll have to do the readings in another post. I don't mean to leave you hanging but my kids need me now. Everyone else, please chime in!

These are in no particular order.

There was a group of 3 women who had a mother/grandmother come through. She mentioned a lavender dress and that her slip was always showing. Her daughter and grandaughter validated this as a dress she would wear every day while in a nursing home. They could hardly get it off her to wash it. The woman being read told us that people would comment on her mother's pretty lavender dress and that her mother would reply, "I'm put together really well underneath too." One of the women in this group got lots of information for her daughter, who is away serving in the Peace Corp. Several cautions from John that the girl needs to really pay attention to water purification. This girls mother mentioned that she always knows 3 days before her daughter will call and John told her that she will be calling next week.

The lavender dress grandma was kind enough to bring through someone for a group sitting much farther back on the other side. This group had a hard time validating at the beginning. I think the information that wasn't clicking was a gunshot and a female name with an S-N. We went round and round in that section and John had to eventually go down in that group and point directly to a woman (who he'd already spoken to from the stage) and say it's you. Turns out her name is Susan.

There was a very touching reading from the Pooh section, as John called it. There were 2 women sitting about 2 rows apart whose brothers had called them Pooh. The first woman had some nice validation then it moved on to the other woman. After having had 2 "Poohs", John said, "Am I really getting a Tigger now?" Tigger turned out to be the SIL of the 2nd woman and it was her husband who was coming through. John got that he had never seen his son, because the wife was 2 months pregnant when he passed, and that she would be moving soon. The husband mentioned a new relationship and gave her the green light to go ahead with it. He said the new relationship couldn't fill his shoes but it was still good :) Later John came back to the shoes and said he's showing me the shoes again. He thought it was a more literal message now and the wife said yes, someone is wearing his shoes!

Another reading started with John pointing to a section and saying he was coming to the chemistry teacher. He was seeing the periodic table. No response. It was one of those "oh great" moments for John because it should be so easy! Who's the chemistry teacher? I'm seeing my chemistry teacher! He was able to leave that for awhile and this whole row of folks had several nice validations from a family member. Finally near the end, here comes the periodic table again. The only connection anyone could make was the gentleman in a wheelchair who took chemistry in college and worked for a short time as a lab assistant.

Once during the readings, John said nothing was coming so he asked for questions. Then he changed his mind, nope here they come. When I was in Kansas City, several of the questioners had reading interrupt their questions. That only happened once here that I remember and it was a woman who didn't even get her question out...she stood up to say it and John said stop! This might have been the reading John felt he had come to Salt Lake to do. Unfortunately I can't remember any details about it. The room was so hot and by then I was totally drained by the long (and exciting) day that I kind of zoned out.

We ended with a few more questions, John leading us in a chorus of disappointed "ohs" and another rousing standing ovation.

I know I've missed a lot so I really hope others can fill in the blanks. Again, it was a fabulous time and I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity.

Jesse's impersonation was actually very good. That's what made it so funny. He started out hunched over, rubbing his hands. Then he said, "I'm coming over here." He started throwing out initials and possible names, then accused someone of making "the face". Stop making that face! John seemed to enjoy it too.

Thanks DW for posting. Deeply appreciated. Really enjoyed reading what you experienced at the seminar. Sounded like another great seminar to say the least.

Thanks again!

Thanks DW for the report. I too am in the same group with Ken. Is Jesse a CO staff member?
Anyway, thanks again for telling us about your experience. We all enjoy hearing about these things.

Ken & Jet:

FYI - Jesse Shafer is the Gallery Coordinator for CO . He usually travels with JE when there are seminars. He introduces JE and he gets the audience pretty pumped before JE comes out. He fills them in on upcoming shows for CO or any other news about the show or JE. :)

Jesse is usually always with John. He works with the gallery in NY and does exactly as Scambled said.He gets everyone pumped up - you could say he is John's front man. Do you recall who introduced John in Atlanta? If it was not Jesse I would have no idea who would do it. Do you remember in CO that he and a few others were the ones that said they should be wearing a "U" on their shirts for the unread.

Ken- not sure, but probably from the beginning?? When JE appeared in Tampa, Carol intro JE, so it was obvious that Jesse wasn't there. Four out of five seminars that I attended, Jesse was there and my first seminar was in Dec. 2000.

I think you did a great job telling about the evening! I was so excited when he came to person who's grandma came through with the lavendar dress with slip showing, I thought he might be coming to me.....but I was just another "ME TOO" person he talks about. When this reading started, he said I have a father who died of/had brain tumors, going to this section. The lady was in the row behind me, just to the right. Then he said that he has a younger person named Justin. I was like "oh my gosh!" luckily I said it all in my head! My dad died of brain tumors and my friends son Justin died. But then he started in with the grandma part and darn it! It didn't fit.

One great thing!!! I met Mesch! I had left the session room to use the restroom (did not want to leave during and be pulled out!!!) anyways, my husband told me that a person wearing aan outfit I was looking for was in the ticket line. So, I am thinking, while I go to the restroom I will walk through that area and take a look. Well, I look at her and she is saying "she has the same name as me only with one L........I just said , you must be Michelle. It was wonderful to meet her. Now get this! I think a lot of you know I bought my tickets on Ebay. Well, the person I had been bidding against was in line in front of her! Great to meet them also!!!

I talked to her until about four minutes before the doors were to be closed. She was still in line, so I donot know if she got tickets. However, seat were being added so I really hope so!!

I wish I could have met more of you, but what a wonderful experience!

Hi Ken

I only saw Carol work herself crazy in Mpls, running all over with a mic for everyone to participate in either questions or being read by John. They really do some exercising in those places. It would be fun to listen to her introduce John - I guess she is quite the lady.

Thanks,

Irishrose

Well I tried,,,, and tried,,, YES! meeting Michele was soo awesome!!! :) she is so sweet! (we really must get together again sometime!)
I was actually kinda tiffed for a bit at the gal running the show from the hotel side. SHe was abit gruff and I am guessing a total skeptic if not a cynic! grrr. I was not at the front of the line but near it. I was the first person to go up the stairs with out a ticket, and asked if I could just stand in the wings in case someone had an extra. she told me now way I had to go back down. She even wanted me to fight the line on the stair way, until I asked if I could please use the elevator so I didn't hurt anyone on the stairs. ohh yea I guess so  soo I waited down stairs. there were a lot of people looking and finally this one guy that was really searching hard told us there was a line upstairs, so we darted up. That is when I met the ebay people. They were in line in front of me talking about it and I acknowledged it, and said they must be the people that the gal I was hopinh to meet was bidding against,, then I had made a rose pin for Michele, and was telling htem how I had meditated and talked to my loved ones over it, asked them to help her loved ones come through and then they could mention the 2 L thing and then Maybe Michele could validate it for me (ok yes I was hoping I could get pulled in LOL) well I waited till almost 7:00 yes 7 because we could hear the LOL and such. I DID get to SEE JE 2 times as they walked him one way then another in the hall. Unfortunetly I had so much negative energy around me! everyone (@20 people) that didn't get tickets were really mad. esspecially the ones that did the bid war with Michele. anyway,, I knew it wasn't my time, altho a bit bummed, I was ok with it.. DW said something about messages for some that couldn't attend. hmmm and it was about the time I heard about it I had decided to go through SLC for my trip. you could just feel the energy after wards. I was there in the hall looked in trying to see if I could find MIchele. It was amazing the faces that left. The S people. I heard them in the hall either that or they were mocking but I really think they were them, because she was like how could you MISS THAT! hmmm. I enjoyed my night with the family. but wish I had been in there. but it was so cool to know I was in the same hotel as he, and I saw him that made my night. someday it will be my time. and I will be ready then
Michele and DW so glad you enjoyed it. some people had such sad looks, I wondered about hte grief councelers.. but maybe they were upset because of no reading  well gotta go, need to watch JE and settle the kids. Always hard to settle at Grandmas.

It sounds like there was so much energy . I was getting excited just reading the posts. Anyone going to New Haven has to let us in on the readings . :user: I didn't find out about it until the tickets were sold out and we are only about 3 hours away. Asleep on the job I guess. Hope he has another one soon. Holding positive thoughts:bulb: Lets concentrate on Philly
thats a nice place and not too far from NY.

Thank you DW and Michele for sharing the seminar with us!
It sounds like it was really fantastic!

Mesch..I'm so sorry that you didn't make it in.
But, it sounds like you made the best of things.
YAY! for you! ((((((Mesch)))))))

Ken, I was at the Atlanta seminar too and I know that it wasn't Jesse who did the introductions. All I remember was that is was a lady and the introcuction was fairly short...wasn't it?
I remember her going up to the podium and saying something about how this seminar would not be taped for television...heard some groans...and then she introduced John.
I may be forgetting some things.
Was this Carol?

I'm going to jump in here -

There were groans when it was announced that it wouldn't be taped for television?? (the Atlanta seminar)
ahh... okay. Now, that doesn't sit well with me.

As for those who posted about their experiences last Sat - WOW!! What a great adventure!!
and thanks for sharing. :)

Hi Chargeit, Philly is driving distance away from me but the Baltimore-Washington area would be much closer for me. A Great area for a Seminar! :D :jumper:

Thanks DW, Michele6 and Mesch. It's so great to hear about your experiences. I am sorry that Mesch didn't make it inside. But I am glad that you came away with such positive energy. I can only imagine the feeling of energy that you get from attending a seminar. It must be so cool!

I'm still hoping that a seminar will be held a little closer to here but if one comes to Baltimore..... well, an airline up here is starting service in Dec. to Baltimore. And I have friends in the Baltimore area. So who knows? Maybe I will be joining Widow and the gang down there.

Cool Ken!
I always wondered if that was Carol.
I couldn't see very well from my seat.
I know what you mean about those memory lapses.
I may have been having one when I mentioned the groans about the seminar not being taped....not sure...thought I heard some in my section any way...oh well...doesn't matter.

:D Thanks!

Thanks to all those who were at the seminar, for your wonderful descriptions. I almost felt as if I was there - though there's not much hope of JE coming to Australia in the near future, so I'll just have to continue watching on TV and tuning in to this site for all the descriptions of you lucky people who get to see him live.

Michele6, can you help me out?

I was watching tv last night and realized when My Wife and Kids came on that JE had talked about this show in a reading at the Salt Lake seminar. However, neither DH or I can remember what it referred to in the reading, or if the information got validated. I'm hoping Michele6 remembers the middle of this exchange.

JE: Have you ever seen My Wife and Kids?
Woman: uh, no.
JE: I'm seeing the episode where someone eats the father's pie and won't admit it. So he makes everyone eat pie for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.
Woman: ((Here's the part I don't remember))
Somewhere in here it occurs to the woman that JE's not talking about his ACTUAL wife (or kids).
JE at the end of the reading: And what are you going to watch from now on?
Woman: uhhh, My Wife and Kids.

At least we have the posibility of this someday being televised, so it won't drive me crazy forever!

I think he was referring to the show with Damon Waynns ( I think thats how you spell it) I didn't see that episode but have seen one or two.
