I know there are pet psychologists but this is the first pet psychic I have ever heard about. Would be interesting to see how it goes.

Hehe. I'm not sure I wanna know what my pet's thinking.
Oh Don...I KNOW what my poor old 14 year old cat is thinking...."Why did they get that #@&* rabbit and why won't he stop chasing me?"
He may not speak, but I don't need an animal psychic to see how p---ed off he is !!! :cat:

This show will be interesting ? I'm sure. There's some people up here who call themselves pet psychics. All I can say is I knew *these* people in their past lives before they became pet psychics - hmm, maybe they'll be on the show?
That was funny about not wanting to know what your pet is thinking :D I am so thankful my pooch can't talk!! I just hope someday I can be the person he thinks I am. :)
I have a friend who is a Vermonter working as a policeman in Kosovo. Thousands of miles away and what does he write home about? Feeding a couple stray dogs and all about them.
Whenever I hear the term "pet psychic" I get that picture of JE shaking his head, cocking his eyebrow and saying, "Ah, no, I don't do fish."

Interesting, next thing you know we'll be calling on the first saturday of every month, trying to get tickets to the doggy gallery.

What our pets are thinking
Now that would be hard to validate! I can think of things that could be validated ( the cat says you shut her tail in the door last week ) and things that could not ( the dog says he feels you don't appreciate him ).
It's not that I don't believe in it. I simply wonder how many validations one could get from their zebra finch?
I'll watch anything once :D

Unfortunately Don, he's thinking exactly what you think he's thinking....the only thing on a rabbit's mind!! He's a little confused about his species though....thinks he's a cat too!!!
Tammy: I had the same question...how can pet's "speak" our language and how do we validate what's coming across? I would watch too but hope it doesn't make the "real deal" look dumb!

I realize it sounds pretty far-fetched (yes, the pun *is* intended), but has anyone read the book "Kindred Spirits" by Allen Schoen? He's a veterinarian who's trying to convince people there's a lot more to the human/animal connection than we might think. It's interesting reading.
As far as communicating with my own pet goes, after 14 years together my tabby Rochester understands me pretty well, but unfortunately for him I've only been able to learn a few simple commands in cat language. I know when he wants to be fed, and when he wants to go out, and when he's feeling ill, but beyond that I'm clueless. He's a lot better with English than I am with Meow.

Here's a link to Sonya Fitzpatrick's web site, in case anyon whats more information on her:

I'm a little confused in that the show is referred to as a series on one page, and a "one hour special" on another.
Gizmo, my six pound, loveable, bratty Yorkie-Poo is pretty good at communicating. He hops into my lap and stares into my face. If I ignore him he gives my arm a quick lick and paces on my lap. (It's very difficult to try to read my book while he's doing this).:D I finally ask, "What do you want?" He smiles and stares harder. Usually it's a Goody (dog treat) and when I ask, "Do you want a goody?", his whole body wiggles and his face says "Yes,Yes,Yes!" He always seems to forget he just had a goody an hour ago.

Gail, that is cute. Our Buffy (cocker spaniel) used to sit in front of you until you looked at her and asked 'What?' She'd wag her tail and start for the kitchen. Then it was sitting in front of the cabinet door and lifting her head up to the cabinet she wanted. She was asking for peanut butter - all on her own. She loved peanut butter.
Pets are so much fun. I miss her.

Hey Everybody!
I vaguely remember seeing a pet psychic on 20/20 a loooong time ago (5-10 years). She was interviewed by Lynne somebody or other. She read a couple's cat who had back problems and the reporter's dog who had seperation anxiety. Then Lynne and her talked about how on she was. :hmm: I wonder if it's the same pet psychic?

I'm new here and couldn't resist telling one of my cats' stories. I have two- Charlie who goes outside and Mickey who stays indoors. Usually about the time Charlie comes in, Mickey will sit in the windowsill and give me a unique little sound that tells me he's there. We've had a few false alarms. One night I ignored him because of this- the next thing I know he is sitting in front of the door lookiing up at the handle. Charlie was outside waiting to come in. These guys are really amazing!:D

Did I or did I not see a commercial on SciFi for The Pet Psychic? I think I did.
My reaction when I saw the commercial was "Oh no! They are all going to have their own show soon." Then I remembered that the first is usually the best. This reminds me of when there was only a handful of talk show hosts. Now we have everyone trying there hand at it.
How will the pets validate whether the psychic is right or not?
;)
No, it was Animal Planet.
Animal Planet will be showing a one hour special with pet
psychic Sonya Fitzpatrick on January 29, 2002 at 8:00 p.m. (ET).

Deb - There was a commercial advertised on Sci-Fi from Animal Planet regarding the pet psy.
Ceceoh had a thread on this a while back called New Show on "Animal Planet" located here also in Other resources--take a look...
Yes, on the discovery channel :)

I saw her on Unsolved Mysteries a couple of weeks ago (it's on lifetime between reruns of Designing Women and The Golden Girls). A woman had the pet psychic over to see her horse who just wasn't acting right and the vet said nothing was wrong. The psychic said that the horse had a sharp pain in her jaw and needed to be x-rayed right away. It turned out the horse had part of a bit embedded in her jaw and was in terrible pain. They had it removed and the horse was back to normal.
My cute pet story... we had a kitty, Leroy, who we just loved but who had to be put to sleep a few years ago. My whole family independently had seen him in my parents house after we put him to sleep. We were all convinced that he was visiting us. This past September my parents moved and we were kind of concerned that he would be stuck there with a strange family. My mom and I said that we hoped that Leroy would come over to my house instead of my brothers (we don't like his wife, or as I call her "the big ball of negative energy that lives in his house). Not 2 nights later, my husband and I were going to bed and our kitty, Hello, started going crazy! You know how cats will just run for no clear reason? She was doing that and jumping on our computer, running down the hall, jumping off of our bed. Basically going nuts. My husband said, "Sounds like kitty has a visitor." So out loud I said, "I am glad you guys are playing together, but we have to get some sleep. You two can play in the morning!" Hello stopped dead in her tracks and walked into the living room and went to sleep on the couch. It was crazy, but just reinforced what everyone on this site knows, that nobody or no kitty, is gone forever.
