As someone of the Sinatra/Crosby era, I'm not always thrilled with the background music in stores these days. So recently I was pleased to hear one of my favorites from a slightly later time--John Denver.

John wrote a beautiful song called "Perhaps Love" and recorded it with Placido Domingo. Hearing it again reminded me of how much I enjoy John's singing and especially the words of his songs.

Perhaps some of you will enjoy it also.

"Perhaps Love"

Perhaps love is like a resting place,
A shelter from the storm.
It exists to give you comfort,
It is there to keep you warm.
And in those times of trouble
When you are most alone,
The memory of love will bring you home.

Perhaps love is like a window
Perhaps an open door.
It invites you to come closer,
It wants to show you more,
And even if you lose yourself
And don't know what to do
The memory of love will see you through.

O! Love to some is like a cloud
To some as strong as steel,
For some a way of living
For some a way to feel,
And some say love is holding on
And some say letting go
And some say love everything,
And some say they don't know.

Perhaps love is like the ocean
Full of conflict, full of pain.
Like a fire when its cold outside
And thunder when it rains.

If I should live forever
And all my dreams come true
My memories of love will see me through.

Yes it is a beautiful song - very poetic.

I also understand the John wrote the song to express his love for his then Australian wife "Cassandra".

Twas as sad day the world said goodbye to John Denver.

Take Care

Unicorn, yes that is a beautiful song. I heard it one time on one of John Denvers albums, which one I can't remember.;) I would love to hear it again if I knew where to find it. Thanks for bringing back a good memory! Kim :D

I completely agree, Triciab. We lost a good one when we lost John Denver. It still maks me sad to hear his music.

I think he also wrote "I Can't Believe I'm In Love Again" for the second wife.

Koala, "Pehaps Love" is on the 'Seasons of The Heart' album, and also on a cassette called John Denver Greatest Hits, Volume 3.
I believe the cassette was made after he crossed over.
