Here's the condensed version of my notes on the day, there was about ten pages of them! I also attended the New Haven Seminar 12/01/01. During this event in Albany I sat way in the back on the aisle, not far from the door to enter where they were taking the tickets. We arrived and found parking there and were seated by about 12:30 PM, and the room was about 1/2 full when we arrived. The venue was nicer than that in New Haven, they let everyone inside the building and they also had food offered in the lobby.
Carol introduced John and he was his usual chipper self, he wore a black sweater, jeans, and his glasses. The crowd welcomed him and he gave his usual spiel about there being a limited number of readings and that everyone there pretty much has the same motiviation. That the disappointment factor will be high, partly because most people have created large "demands list". However John is "here not for those with the demands lists, but for those on the other side". He talked about his feelings on being the subject of many comedic routines and parodies, and said the thick skin is a necessary part of being a celebrity of any sort. But then he started talking about his most recent participation in more studies in Arizona. Mentioned "The Afterlife Experiments" and how they're a good read from a scientific POV, the data speaks for itself... back to the studies.... How they were studying how he gets his pull towards certain parts of the room - how he operates within a group dynamic - that he gets a pull from his chest and it makes no difference if he can see his "sitters" or not because he just puts his mind into the same mode as being in a radio session.
Next he spoke about relative stealers and how we need to have empathy for them and the importance of this day and time for them, birthday cake for everyone but not every piece has your name on it. He then mentioned how he has to work harder when people give too much information instead of saying just yes or no, referred to the Albequerque show.
Questions -
what about angry energies?
JE answered that he gets more positive messages and playful ones, however as the LA Times mentioned, he is not your warm fuzzy guy a lot of the time either.
More reruns?
JE replied that he really didn't expect the show to be such a hit and that he couldn't keep up with the time demand. There will be new shows aired in May instead of next fall. Didn't say when they will begin taping again.
How do you meditate and shut down mind noise?
JE said that anytime you focus on anything you're meditating. It can be as simple as lighting a candle in someone's name. The intruding thought can be thought of like a bouncing ball..... let... the...thought.....bounce...out.....instead of entertaining it and batting it back and forth.
Were you scared at first when you found you could do this?
He told the story of his family history and readings.... not too scared as a kid..
Then John spoke about the psychometry of objects, about objective and subjective interpretations and how when you have a reading by a medium you shouldn't give them an object from the person you're trying to connect with. The person may be reading the object instead of truly connecting with the energy on the other side.
He mentioned about how smell is one of the most common and most commonly overlooked connections withthe other side, how smell triggers so many unique memories. How to connect you mainly need prayer and an open mind.
What about age on the other side?
Je said that we are all part of unique soul groupings and friendships. That the energy does not age per se but changes forms so it is recognizable to parents, children, etc... Question regarding "Mikey" asked a bit later, John reiterated that the soul is ageless.
What about the Roman Catholic Churches feeling about what you do?
JE answered "Don't you think the church has enough problems already?" followed by much applause. But seriously, told the story about the nun and priest reading in the same day. How he believed that the RC teaching about rules that keep people away from God through fear and punishment wasn't probably accurate, and that what he believes is that God doesn't judge.
What can we do about the problems in the world?
Je replied we can pray, prayer is helpful. That wars over religion and God make no sense, and that he'd like to have "Disney" versions of all those countries that are constantly at war.
Everyone got a good laugh when he talked about seeing the movie "A Beautiful Mind" with his wife, and how his friend used to tell him quite often that the best mediums are locked away..... He spoke about how dogs sense energies that people can't see. He also spoke about reincarnation and learning life lessons while we're here.
Then the readings began. Lots of validations, the audience was as hot as John was which made for quick banter between the two. Something I remember John saying several times throughout the day was "don't reach for validations." Don't try to make things into what they're not. He spoke about getting letters from people who think they had a reading meant for them and that the person being read stole their relative.....etc.... He said pay attention to details, and unless you're a relative of the person you see on TV it's not very likely that reading is for you.
Lots and lots of readings. Questions occasionally: Do you believe in lucid dreaming? JE said no, he operates more like the movie "Ghost", and also that the movie "The Sixth Sense" is NOT based on him. Does he understand other languages? No, just familiar references to him, names especially difficult. He told the story about his wife's Portugese grandmother....the importance of validations, and that the number one way those who have crossed visit us is in our dreams rather than visits.
Readings - reference to cornucopia meaning food connection, again a warning not to stretch things to mean something it's not.
John spoke about the physical body just being a vehicle while we're on this plane called earth. That diseases don't cross over with you.
I thought the most interesting reading of the day was the one where he had a reference to illegal drug smuggling (internal) and Fred Flinstone Feet. A woman validated the drug smuggling being related to a cancer treatment legal in Germany but not here in the US, and that her sister had undergone such a thing and smuggled drugs to treat the cancer. John said that he didn't see cancer. The woman said it was because her sister had been "cured". Apparently they gave her doses of tuberculosis which at the cancer cells, put her on a carrot juice supplement and strict diet (no red meat) and also made sure her life was stress free. Very interesting......
Question - re: reincarnation? What if our relatives that have passed are gone when we cross over and get there? JE replied he didn't think we human souls come back so quickly, but that he thought animal energies were different because they are so full of unconditional love.
He said listen with our heart for the validations, but hold onto the skepticism so we can decipher what is real or imagined. Write down dates and times of validations and compare them with facts, evidence, and details.
I thought it was a great day for John, but if you brought a skeptic it may have appeared too good to be true. My guest is still retaining her skepticism, maybe I'll bring that up in another thread. For my money it was a great trip and a good time.
