I've heard some of these before but they still make me smile. I debated for a second to put this under that post "unconditional love"... but I opted for here instead.

"A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself." -Josh Billings

I had a dog that difinitely did love me more than herself. Her name was (is) C.C. and she passed away several years ago. German shorthaired pointer who was covered in small brown dots, thus her name, CC for Chocolate Chips.

WE were hiking in the Chochise Stronghold area, and I decided to climb up a waterfall for the view. She of course made it to the top before I did by going around the back. I finally made it to the top of the rocks, where she was standing, waiting for me. But in order for me to get up, she had to move aside. I didn't know there wasn't enough room for both of us up there.

"Move over, CC!" And she did. I quickly got a seating on top, then realized that she was tottering on her tippytoes on the edge of a 70 plus foot drop just to give me room. I just grabbed her pack harness just in time before she lost her balance and went falling down the waterfall. That to me is love beyond what's to be expected. I'll never forget that and look forward to seeing her when my own time comes.

Kasin, my sincerely condolences on the passing of your dog. I'm almost embarassed now that I put this in the humor folder.

Because it brings to mind for me, with your post, all the dogs in law enforcement that have given their lives in protection of their partners. This happens daily.

I personally liked the first quote the best too, and the one from Will Rogers - yes, I want to go where the dogs are when I finally find the end to that rainbow bridge.
