I asked my brother the other day if he would drive my mom and I to Chicago to see John if I bought the tickets for us. He said yes but didn't seem too interested in going to the show, he would drive us there and drop us off for the show and then come back and pick us up later. I bought 3 tickets and am hoping that he will change his mind about attending. I also am hoping that my dad will come through. This is my first seminar. Did they tell you when you bought your tickets that they would be taping the show, thats what they told me. I can't wait!!!!! Kim :jumper: :D

For the transfers I used "invent it" transfers for dark fabric. I bought it at Staples office supplies and it worked great. I used one of our transfers and have gotten nice comments at both seminars I wore it to. It also washes nicely.
Hope that helps:)

Thanks for the suggestion! You mentioned that you used a dark fabric for your t-shirt - are there different types of transfers for light and dark fabric?? Reason I ask, my white tee had a yellow tinge all around the transfer. I was so careful about not ironing too long, or holding the iron in one place too long!
I will give the "Invent it" transfers a shot! This time I plan on using a cobalt-blue tee-shirt!
Thanks again!

Hey Kitten,
Six feet and bunny ears! We could easily keep track of you. And Paige's guy, wow, 6'5". Do you think he'd do the bunny ears, Paige? Nah, Don probably won't either, I'm thinking. A t-shirt, pin, balloons maybe, but (sigh) no bunny ears. Kim, white bunnies will do just fine. I hope everyone has time to get together afterwards. We had so much fun in Indy. We went out for dinner. It was a very good time.:jumper:
Hey Paige, we kinda match. I'm around 5'3", blond, and Don's 6', but he has hair. Close enough anyway.
Is there an album of member pictures, so we can recognize each other?

The Chicago seminar is closing in. Its like 10 days away and I can barely sit still, I am so very excited. Haven't figured out what to wear yet. I suppose very casual would be more comfortable.
Anyone interested in planning something nice for after the seminar? Post some suggestions. A few hours doesn't seen hardly enough time to see each other, especially after all the chatting we do online.

Ooo, you're right! I think I know what I am going to wear, but knowing me I will change at the last minute. I'm going casual, too, mostly due to the ungodly hour I will have to get up that day. I'm new to the forum so I don't know any of you. My sister, neice and I are coming from the Albany area. We'll be staying at the hotel so our plan is to take shifts waiting in line to get in so we're in line early. So you may see one or two of us with bedhead initially but what the heck, you won't know us anyway (that was a joke btw!). Anyway, we're excited as this is our first seminar. So far we have only seen John on TV. Hope to meet some of you I've been watching post on the forums. And about clothing, I read somewhere about wearing dark clothing for the TV gallery. We were thinking of following that theme in case the taping rumor is true.

Dark clothes are supposed to look better on TV. My wardrobe is practically all black, blue, and purple (with a dash of white thrown in) so finding dark clothes aren't a problem!

I'm not worried about eventually finding something, it's making sure I get in all on in the proper order and places. I can just see Don having to bail me out either for indecent exposure or as a loitering bag lady. Take your pick. Either are a possibility at the moment. But, I better not miss that seminar. Is everyone sure that this is going to be taped? Why this one?

Guess I should have read the prior posts before responding :). Oh well, won't be the only mistake of the day I'm sure. In any event, I'm getting excited. I haven't traveled anywhere for anything other than work since my son was born and in the past two months have taken two trips just for me. Just getting out of the house is a treat, anything else that happens in Chicago will be a bonus! Of course looking for the bag lady indecently exposed will be first on my list! (that was a joke!). Have a great weekend everyone. Next weekend this time we'll all be less than 24 hours from standing in line, drinking coffee, holding each other's places in line while we get rid of coffee to be able to drink more coffee!

Hi, everyone! Newbie here! I live in "Chicagoland", so am totally thrilled about this seminar being so close to home! I was having severe doubts that I would ever make it to New York! I had to resort to ebay to get tickets, but I know that it will be worth it. Sadly, I have few friends or relatives who are familiar with John yet (I'm working on them!), but I did convince my sister-in-law to come with me!
If doors are opening at 10:30, what do you think the earliest is that anyone will start to line up? I think I saw this question from someone else, but didn't see an answer.
I wish that I had found you all sooner so that I could get to know you and meet you there, but it will still be fun to know that there are fellow "friends" around!

I'm so excited!!!
I just got tickets this weekend by absolute chance! I had just found this site by accident and was lurking in a chat when someone mentioned having two extra tickets, so I jumped on them! I'm secretly hoping my friends and relatives on the other side had something to do with that and I'm "supposed" to be there, but trying not to get my hopes up.
I love JE, but have never been to a seminar, gallery show, or etc. My husband thinks I'm nuts but I don't care.
Do you have a secret wink or something so we can identify each other with??
See you in Chicago!!
:daisy:
Pink balloons is one good way to recognize each other.
When I saw JE at the same venue almost 2 years ago, it was a large banquet room, flat, with around 1500-2000 chairs. He stood at on a podium at the front. Back then, he was all around the room, in fact, he climbed up a chair and stood up on top of table so he could see in the back of the room!
Our group from "down south" will be arriving around 11am or so.
What time will everyone else be getting there? Doors open at 10 if I'm not mistaken.

The retroklan will be there between 8 am and 9 am I think. I am not driving so I can't say for sure, but that is my best estimate.
If you see a nearly 6 foot, chunky, brunette with a bright yellow Hawiian print tote bag nearly falling asleep-that's me.
I look at the weather and as of right now the forecast calls for 74 degrees and mostly cloudy on Sunday.

I will go get one late Saturday so it's still floating Sunday afternoon!
I told my friends and relatives today (from the other side) to give me a specific sign, I won't tell here what it is until it's confirmed. Kind of like Gails frogs. I hope to see some soon! It's kind of strange to talk to my dead relatives, but comforting too. I think this may be the beginning of a cool relationship.

I can't remember from here to there so I apologize to the poster who asked if anyone was staying there. We get in around 8:30 I think. Email me if you want to meet up Saturday evening for coffee or whatever. I liked the poster who said they were taking their time getting in line. Part of me says get there at 6am to get in line, the other part says he'll find me if he has a message. But having never seen him live before I'll probably opt for the 6am stand in line just to be closer to the front. If there ever is a next time, I'll be more leisurely about it. I just hope we don't have the "hey, we're new, never been here and boy do we look stupid" look all over our faces........HA HA HA. So to anyone who's from the Chicago area, what's good to check out and cram into a Saturday night, we've never been here before trip? More importantly, where's the really good food!!! And please tell me there's a Starbucks nearby!!!!!
Hey Sharpie...
What time you get there,
or where you sit,
has nothing to do with whether or not you get a message.
Where you sit, has everything to do with whether or not you can see John's lips move, or his eyebrows raise :)

Better question is where isn't there good food and where isn't there a Starbucks! Chicago is known for it's pizza and beef sandwiches. My personal favorite is Gino's East for Chicago style pizza. (I hope it's okay to post this part) There is a site www.metromix.com that tells you everything to do in Chicago. Bars, street festivals. museums, music, where to eat- everything! Most listings have reall detailed reviews like how much everything costs and what to wear.

Now I can drive my neice crazy going for my Starbucks coffee!!!! Thanks for all the food tips, and especially thanks for finding out about the coffee, don't need food now! But we'll need the coffee to keep our eyes open standing in line. We figure we're traveling this far to see John, we might as well try to get seats to be able to see those eyebrows raising. Anything else would be a bonus, if we're meant to get a message, we'll get one. I can't wait to get there and meet some of you!
I was very fortunate to be close to John at both of my seminars and even though it doesn't matter where you sit to get a reading, it is so much nicer to see him in detail. He does react to what information he is receiving and some of those reactions are subtle. I know everyone of you going will have a wonderful experience.

I called the Marriott today and was told that the seminar is in the Chicago Ballroom, which is a one-level banquet-type room with chairs for 1400. The ballroom is on the 5th floor of the Marriott, and attendees will not be allowed on the floor to line up until 8:00 a.m. The doors to the ballroom will then open at 10:30 a.m. I am told John will be "centrally located" so the setup will be "good" for viewing.
There are many parking facilities in the area, and it is also a good restaurant/night spot area.
I am really looking forward to this!

Dibsy, great idea! Thanks for the info. I was a little worried about parking as it can be so expensive and hard to find in some areas of Chicago.
See you there!
Kim
Parking will be expensive, even if there is plenty of it within the few blocks. Plan on at least 25-30 dollars.
It's the same room where I saw him in November of 2000 (my first JE seminar!) and the place where you line up is kind of small, and they "zig zag" the line. Sadly, they allowed smoking there and it was kind of nasty for us non-smokers.

Not to be disloyal to any of my friends or relatives on the other side, any of whom I would be Thrilled to hear from, but I am just so totally excited to experience John in person that anything else will just be the icing on the cake! Is that terrible?
I am one of those newbies who can't wait to see those lips moving and eyebrows raising in person!I enjoy watching CO so much because John makes me laugh and cry (sometimes at the same time) almost every time! Well, Ladybug,
I can tell you are a normal JE supporter already. You'll be in a crowd of people who feel just as you do. With the exception of those who are desparately trying to contact their loved ones.
Je is great to listen to and watch. He has such energy. He is very thoughtful and kind in sticky situations.
For me, if someone wants to contact me I would be more than happy to give them a big pyschic hug, but as I found out at the last seminar, there were many who needed JE more than I did.
Believe it or not you have a wonderful attitude going into the seminar. Your top wish is to see JE. That will definitely happen. A reading is a little more chancy, so if your expectations aren't so high, you won't feel so bad if you don't get one. Sit back and enjoy the show!!

I must confess, I'm a little worried about trying to pass off pink balloons at the airport. The last time I flew a month ago, they pulled my bag apart because I had a folder with alot of same colored paper in it. They claim it could have had something to do with bombs or making bombs. I don't even want to think what they'll identify pink balloons as so I'll e the one drinking Starbucks coffee instead. Will many be drinking it? Look for pink balloons...that will be us :) Have a safe drive :)

Hello Maddie,
We'll all be waitin for ya. Dont' be shy when you get there either. It tends to get crowded fast. Just latch onto one of us (with a pink balloon) and off we go. Pink balloon, pink rose, maybe?
Join the middle aged giddy crowd. It'll be a blast!!!

Hey, it's only a day away!!! Can ya' believe it?
Coinky-dink time----my "real" name is Kris, too! How cool is that? K-names rule!
I can't wait to see all of the pink balloons! Think the Marriott people are going to be happy about their hotel floating away from all of the helium? Maybe I'll bring a little balloon since I'm so new to the group!
See ya' all very, very, very soon!

Well, the day has come and gone! I felt a little goofy with the pink balloon when I didn't see anyone else with one, but at least I had my sister-in-law with me holding one, too!
On the plus side, several of you came up to me to say hello and that was great! Thanks- retrokitten & kat, smyrnami and especially MJH41 & Iptimmtruckin, who we ended up sitting by! It was so nice to meet all of you, and, of course, Pam! Thanks for the little cards!
John was simply great! I wasn't one of the fortunate ones who got a reading, but it was so worth the trip and expense just to see and experience John in person.
Well, I just wanted to say how glad I was that I found this site and that I got a chance to say hello to some of you in person!
Have a good night! I know that I'm tired-how about you?

Hi everyone.
What a great great experience. I will always remember my first time with JE!!!!!
It was very nice meeting all of you and i hope we do it again real soon. The energy was awesome and i really felt at times weak and dysfunctional when he was talking. My mind was having to work so fast to keep up with him.
The very 1st reading was someone we stood in line with and that family was the one that asked the pet question. I also saw some similarity in where we were sitting we all had alot in common. Like JE says who you are sitting by is no coincidence.
Well gotta go to work

Wow!!!
I am so happy I went, eventhough I didn't get a reading. It was so worth the time, money, drive, everything! I am so psyched!
And it was very nice to meet all of you! I forgot my pink baloon in the truck and didn't want to walk back to the parking garage to get it. But, I was glad to see some of you didn't forget!
There was so much to take in, we talked about it all night. I especially felt empathy for the couple in the middle whose son accidently shot himself in the head in May! John was so dead on with everything. Next time I am taking my husband whether he likes it or not!
Should we maybe have a "debriefing" post (seperate from this) where we can all post our thoughts and feelings?
Have to share something with you:
I've never been able to get in touch with my spirit guide or Crossed Over loved ones, BUT, Friday I went to the bank, cashed my check and put the money envelope in my jumper pocket. That was the last time I saw it!!! I was freaking out because I couldn't find this money (about $400)! I looked all Saturday and last night when we got home at midnight. Well, this morning I sat down took a deep breath and asked my spirit guide to help me. After a few minutes of sitting there I got the idea to look where I had laid the mail Friday and it was there!!!!! I never even considered that! My spirit guide?? What do you think????
Talk to you soon,
Kim
P.S. Lauren, was great to meet you!
