I am now reading Many Lives, Many Masters by Brian L. Weiss. It is absolutely fascinating !!!!!!!!!!! Cannot put this book down!!!

At the early part of the book Dr. Weiss says that in A.D. 325 the Roman emperor Constantine the Great, along with his mother, had references to reincarnation that were in the New Testament deleted from the bible.

How would I go about researching this? There are no notes in the book as to where he got this info and I don't know where to start.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Mary

This fact is well documented in any history book, encyclopedia, etc.

Let me clarify, as I answered too quickly and shortly. I'm sure that there are historians that might dispute this fact, certainly some Christian historians.

You would have to do a study of the history of the Roman Empire to understand the context of Constantine's actions. He's credited with solidifying the early Christian church, by making Christianity the official state religion of the Roman empire, and this move solidified his political position as a favored leader. Yet he never became a Christian himself, until his deathbed (an insurance policy, just in case?)

Check this search at Google (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=A.D.+325+Roman+emperor+Constantine+the+Great%2C+mother%2C+ references+reincarnation+removed&btnG=Google+Search) for more references to the removal of the belief in reincarnation from early scriptures, which later became known as the New Testament.

As I said, it's a topic that's debated, but it's surely true that the removal of reincarnation from the belief system, helped to insure that the political strength of the church remained intact. I encourage you to research both sides of the argument, and then decide for yourself.

Hi - I've started a discussion thread on Constantine, with a basic background from the encylopedia, at SpiritDiscovery.com (http://spiritdiscovery.com/disc/showthread.php?s=&threadid=113). I'll add more references and sources as I run across them, and I hope others will do the same :)
