View Full Version : A Skeptic's Howdy
09-02-2002, 04:20 AM
Hey all! If you don't know who I am, you can skip this post, as it will probably be of no interest to you. Suffice it to say that I used to be sort of the "resident skeptic" here on the Friends board.
Back in January, I bowed out (see thread A Skeptic's Farewell (http://www.johnedwardtalk.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3076)), due mostly to the fact that I was going through "a very difficult part of my life".
What only a few of you knew back then was that the primary cause of that "difficult period" was my divorce, from my wife of 23 years. That, combined with stress-related health issues, made me bow out of a number of things, in hopes of simplifying (and reducing tensions in) my life.
The divorce, which had been going on for almost a year at that point, has been final for a while now, and I have been able to start the long process of moving on.
One silver lining to the whole situation has been Susan, a woman I have been seeing very steadily for a few months now.
Within a week or two of meeting Susan, we were driving down the road one day when she pointed and said "hey, there's that guy I like!"
I looked, and found that she was pointing at a picture of John Edward on a "Crossing Over" billboard.
I said something like "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!".
Suffice it to say that she and I have had more than one interesting discussion on the topic!
Anyway, I just wanted to drop in and let those who care know that I'm alive and doing well.
All the best,

Good for you!
See one door closes and another one opens.
I think it is a real blessing to find a partner that shares the same beliefs as you do - so to speak.
Glad life is treating you well.

What a nice surprise this is! Glad to see you hear again Bob. Pull up a chair and lemme be the first to buy you a Pepsi on the rocks..... Here's some chips, now I guess you have a lot of reading to do :lwink: . Really though, I didn't think I'd miss you as much as I did, but we all learn stuff on this road of life everyday. Best of luck on all your new beginnings.

Glad you popped in. Great to hear from you again. Hope things are starting to lok up in your life. See, you can't get away from John Edward now can you?
((((Bob)))), I've missed and have been thinking about you lately. So nice to see you back! You probably remember me as Widow when you were on before. Everyone liked my changing my name. You may also have seen me as "Ginger" on another board. You are my favorite "skeptic".
09-02-2002, 07:31 AM
I am new here so I don't remember you..
But I just found it interesting that your friend Susan is a John Edward fan... seems the universe is really working hard at telling you something ! :)
Who knows, someday you might have to change your name too!
Maybe something like JEFan? :D
YO' BOB! Welcome back!
Grab a cold one from the fridge, slip off your shoes and put your feet up. When I read about Susan's feelings about Crossing Over, I wanted to go:
"Na na, na na naaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh" (in a nice way)
(I mentioned Bob (not by name) in my interview with the CO staff. I hope it makes to the final cut :) )
Tell Susan to logon any time!

Hey, Bob! What a pleasant surprise to see your post here this morning. I hope that you'll continue to pop in occasionally, when the "spirit" moves you...
Couldn't resist! :D

So glad you found your way back here. I'm going to do the Na na too. Just for you. Seriously, glad to see you are over the rough spots and moving through those opening doors. Can't wait to hear some of your "discussions" about JE. It's always nice to see family come back home.
Have a wonderful day,

Well Bob! How nice to see that you are here again. You gave me more than one good laugh with your remarks and I look forward to seeing some of them again - but, I betcha Susan has softened that blow just a little. Good work on her part...no coincidence there...
Lean over here once, here is another ((hug)) for both of you.
Take good care of yourself, drop in any time we are always home.

Hello All . . .
I'm Bob's Susan. I wanted to thank you all for the well wishes for our relationship.
What my Robert said is true. We were driving down the street and I saw a sign for the show and remarked about how much I like John Edward. He almost passed out from laughing! When he finally explained it to me, I couldn't keep from grinning.
I am a believer in God, as well. And I truly believe he answered my prayers when Robert came into my life. There were just too many things that have happened with our relationship to be mere 'coincidence,' as Robert prefers to believe.
Well, I'm in the middle of cooking lunch on a very hot and humid day. I best get back to it. Don't quit trying to convince my Robert. I'll try from this end.
All the best.

I show her the thread, and the next thing you know, she's adding a reply - logged in as me!
Ah well. I'm going to go eat that lunch she's making, then see if I can convince her to get frisky on such a hot day...

Welcome back!!! Glad you didn't forget us! Those late nights at Sunday Chat have not been the same without you and Pam (delusional blonde) Hey, speaking of Pam....how are you??
Hope to see you both around the chat soon...I'll try hard to be there next week.
Take care and Bob, best wishes on your new life. Change is so hard but sounds like you made the right choice.

Thanks to all for your kind words.
As you can see from her message above, Susan is a lovely lady, and I have been very fortunate in finding her.
And as you can see from my message after hers, we tease each other all the time.
Again, thanks to all! I was going to answer each individually, but I would just be saying "thanks" over and over!
Except: VTFlower - you missed me? Wow! :)

Bob's Back!!:jumper: Everytime I lurk around at any of the *other* boards I'm reminded of you and end up sending a little prayer of gratitude your way. I'm happy to hear the rough patch has smoothed out a bit.:)
Hi Susan! Welcome aboard.

Now now Francine, that was Pam and Fairiedust who said "na -na" not me! I would never do such a thing.
I'd just go :P
Bob I'm glad you didn't forget about us. We've missed you. Of all the skeptics I've met, you are my favorite; every other pales in comparison.

Sorry about the mistake Tammy.....guess I should read alittle more carefully next time....lol! :)

I'm new here so I didn't know you before, but after reading all those posts, I can't wait to get the opportunity! And yes, Susan is in your life for a purpose, that's for sure. Congratulations on being able to find some comfort and peace in your life. I certainly hope that your health issues have been worked out as well.
Looking forward to some fascinating exchanges!! I'm assuming that you play "devil's advocate?" on occasion????? (Oops -- is that a bad thing to say?)

Hey, Bob! Welcome back! Chat's always waiting for you, if you can find time with your newly found S/O on hand. Priorities, man- we can stand being second fiddle to significant others.... :)
Speaking of chat, now that the new season has started we will hopefully have a bigger group in chat. Bob used to drop in occasionally.

Hello Bob, and welcome back!
It really is nice to hear from you again.....your posts always made me smile. Your sense of humor was similar to my husbands, and I always used to share many of your posts with him :)
But I must say it IS coincidental (tho not really), because as Jerri said, it was just the other night that I also was thinking about you, and wondering how life was treating you......then......here you are!
Anyway, nice to see ya around.....
Anne (from Lancaster)
