If recent polls are any indication, Hollywood just may be giving ghosts their due. Today more people believe in ghosts than a decade ago. According to a Gallup poll conducted in May, 38 percent of adult Americans believe that ghosts, or spirits of the dead, do exist. That's up from 28 percent in 1991.
Even a few Christian leaders suggest that belief in ghosts is more than just a reaction to media hype. A recent article in L'Osservatore Romano, the Vatican's weekly newspaper, quoted Roman Catholic theologian Rev. Gino Concetti as saying that communication is possible between the living and the dead.
"It may even be that God lets our loved ones send us
messages to guide us at certain moments in our life," said Concetti.
