I have never been to a seminar and want to go to this one.. but I will more than likely be on my own. Is Long Island alright to be hanging around alone or is it not so nice?
And what's your exerience of NY seminars, are they better than other places or are the NY fans more complacent cos John's 'one of their own'?
I only ask cos I'm from Liverpool and in Liverpool for example, we have Beatles stuff.. but its touristy, and no Liverpudlian worth his/her salt, although proud of the heritage and everything, would be too bothered about it.
What are your thoughts guys? :cuser:

Hi there!
I have been to Long Island 3 times in the past year. Once to attend John's workshop, once to attend John's Glen Cove, LI middle school seminar, and once for Robert Brown.
Great place, great atmosphere and safe.
I will definitely be attending whatever is listed - Long Island, New Jersey, Connecticut - it is all within driving distance of me. If anybody lives in Westchester County, NY and needs a ride when the time comes, I have a van! :D Hop aboard!
I am sure you will enjoy Long Island when you go - it is a nice place.

Well if Westchester County is anywhere near Astoria in Queens (?????!!??) then count me in.. (that's where I am at the minute...)
Thanks for your input... its much appreciated!

Hi,
I'll be going to any seminar in New Jersey, New York, or Connecticut.
Long Island, NJ and Conn. are all very nice and very safe. NY is great, and it is safe in most places. I doubt if they would have a seminar anywhere that wasn't safe. Not to worry!! Go and enjoy!! I can't wait! Wish he would have a workshop in one of those states! I would definely go!

I went to a seminar in Long Island last year at the Westbury Music Fair. I also attended one of the seminars in Philly too. I would say without a doubt, that the Westbury venue was superior, as it's stage is a circle in the center of the room with stadium seating and most resembles the gallery atmosphere. I think most other venues on his tour probably are set up more like the Philly one, where it is held in a large room and he is up on stage in the front of the room and the seating is level. Although you can see John well enough, it's hard to see the people he is reading. (And the camera operator at the Philly show was not too good either!)
If he does have a show at Westbury, I think I will attend again - even if it takes me over 3 hours to get there again - and it should be only a 45 minute drive! :goofy:

Donna,
Don't tell me three hours!! According MapQuest it should take only 45 to 50 minutes. But I guess they don't count the congested traffic. Oh well, what's 3 hours, he is worth it.

Well if he's worth me flying to NYC for then i'm sure he's worth a bit of extra traffic :P ;)

Taking the Long Island Expressway (L.I.E.) can be like sitting in the world's longest parking lot. LOL! If there is any way to get around that parkway, do it and your trek should be shorter time-wise.

It took only 45 minutes to get home after the show. It was just one of those days where every route we took had an accident or construction, etc... The show started at 7pm and we left at 3:30 thinking we would be leaving enough time to get there, with traffic, and eat dinner before the show. They have assigned seating so we weren't worried about standing in line to get a good seat. (We were 5th row, eye level with JE!) Well, as it turned out, we got there at 5 minutes to 7, so we had enough time to park, use the bathroom, and get to our seats. The minute he walked out on stage, I forgot all about our nightmare commute - sort of like forgetting all about the labor pains once the baby arrives! :D
Donna
P.S. Do you live in my area (Bergen County)?

Hi Donna,
As long as I don't make a wrong turn and get lost like I did when I went to the Philly seminar. I was on the Phila. Turnpike (I think) at 4:30 in the morning, not knowing how I got there or where it would lead me. Surprisingly, though, we made it to the Marriot early enough to get seats (unassigned) which were 3rd row, middle section, and a wonderful view of John.
I am also from Bergen County. Way, way up, about 5 minutes from NY State.

*is lost already*
Can you get there on the Subway?? :lwink:
pegasus214

I'm sure you can. The very first time I went to LI, I went by subway. Can't give directions though, (If you turn me around once, I can't find my way back. Very bad with directions). One of the New Yorkers can probably tell you how.

Ha! I have *no* sense of direction, and its amazing in itself that I have been directed this far... i'm sure i'll find out how to get there when the time comes for the seminar (pleasepleaseplease)
Thanks guys

Me & my sister did the same thing - we were lost coming AND going home from the Philly seminar.
I am in southern Bergen, just a few blocks from Route 80, but the 45 minutes is about right to get to Westbury, WITHOUT traffic of course!

That is so funny! We probably passed each other on the way.
I too was with my sister. We laughed so hard. But for a while we thought we wouldn't make it to the seminar, and we were not very happy.
If the seminar is in Connecticut or LI, I will be sure to study my map this time. I hope he has one in AC, but it isn't listed.

The westbury seminar was really good and everyone in the area was super. We got lost and several people were awesome about helping us find the venue. We found a hotel about a mile from the theater and relaxed before going to the seminar. I would recommend doing the same to anyone going further than three hours to see John in Long island. It gives you time to unwind and eat before going to the seminar and you can get a fresh start the next day going home.

How long do John's seminars last...?
I checked the FAQ's but couldn't see anything about
it, sorry if I missed something:confused:
Clare:)
clare, at JE's official site, he usually has start and end times for the seminars. They do usually last about 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Sometimes, JE gives a talk first, sometimes he jumps right into the readings. There is usually some Q & A time thrown in there, as well.

Thanks TXJUDE!
2 1/2 TO 3 hours? great!
BTW - Thanx for the prayers for the first aniversary
of my mum's passing (reply to poem)
You're very welcome. Prayers are one thing we can always do for one another, regardless of distance.
I just got this from Carol, about Westbury, and about staying on Long Island:
* Westbury is being planned for June. Expect that as soon as the tickets go on sale they will be gone-People have to be quick about it.
* Long Island is safe with plenty to do. (of course there are areas that you need to be careful but for the most part is it safe)
It is about 1 hour from NYC (Manhattan) depending on traffic. That 1 hour can be 3 hours especially if the city people are heading to the beaches. I live about 10 minutes from the beach and have to leave early of I will hit traffic. Sometimes I just roller blade there.
If people are traveling in from other areas, there are wineries, vineyards, beaches, outlet shopping, about a 3 hour ride from here is the end of the island, Montauk point, where they can hop on a ferry and go across Long Island Sound to Mystic, Connecticut, or head about 1 hour out to Riverhead, where they have built a brand new beautiful aquarium. They can take the Long Island Railroad or drive. It is really easy to get places once on LI., and of course they can do the night life in the city or take in a show. The train is only a 45 minute ride to the city.
For those of you who have never been to this part of the country, (NYC, and outlying areas) I can also tell you that the "image" of NYC and the surrounding areas as being unsafe is not really accurate, and that especially goes for Long Island. Most of Long Island is very residential, much like any other suburban area. Long Island has some very beautiful beaches. There are always places that no matter where you go, that you have to think about your safety, but that you should not let that stop you from seeing one of the most beautiful parts of our country - John's and Carol's neighborhood: Long Island
Thank you (((( Carol ! ))))

Thanks for all the info Pam... Westbury is in MA right? So if Westbury is June..when is the Long Island one being planned for?
Thanks again for the info!
Vicky xx
No, Westbury is "Westbury, Long Island" in New York State. So the answer is "June" :)

Ok so I suck at geography but if you had just said there was a Westbury in Long Island too that would have sufficed without all the inverted commas.
Either way i'm not going to any seminar in June.... :(

Thanx for that Pam
Carol, as in John's PA, sent you that? cool!
My sister and I have been thinking about going to New York,
and we decided that if we were going to go and were lucky enough to get hold of tickets to John's seminar, we would work the trip around that,
( my sister actually said about going in June! (her bday)
maybe we're "meant" to go...*wishful thinking*
So we've been checking the website for the seminar listings and are trying to figure out how and if we could do this,
Do they have any idea as to when the seminar would be announced? Also when it does would it be vertually impossable to try to get hold of tickets from over here?
How would we go about it?
Any advice and/or info from anyone in the know
would be great!:)

I've been waiting for John to come back to Westbury! I went to his last seminar at Westbury Music Fair. I also went to the seminar at John's former school in Glen Cove. I went with my mom and sister. We had a great time!
To this day I think my other sister who crossed over two years ago showed up as a "me too" at the seminar in Glen Cove.
I can't wait!! :D
Any idea when tickets go on sale?

June? We have to wait that long? Anywhere else close by? Maybe NJ or elsewhere in NY? His site said Ct. Maybe that will be sooner. He came to Atlantic City twice. Why not there?

:lwink: My husband is getting flustered with me - I told him we cannot plan any vacations until the JE schedule comes out - LOL! I want to go to CT, NY, NJ - wherever and whenever. The sooner the better! Poor hubby. He has his car hobby, and I have my ADC hobby.

Hi Clare, Yes, that's Carol as in John's right hand :) I don't know specifically when it will be announced, but I am guessing fairly soon. Stay tuned to John's website (the seminar page) for the latest news - I would check it every day starting today.
I don't know how this would work, but you would have to call the ticket outlet long distance. I know you probably can't use the toll free number outside of the US, we'll see if we can find you the regular phone number.
Aside from that, if you can get someone here to purchase them for you when they purchase their own, and then you can reimburse them. I would offer, but I don't have the funds to float the original purchase. I am sure someone here will volunteer...? :)

Thanks alot for that Pam, I'm going to keep checking John's site,
I hope it doesn't pop up before I've even got the dialing code for the US:)
I sent an email to Telecharge also,
regarding what number I would need to call
Clare
I got an automated email from Telecharge, it had two numbers,
one for NY area and one for outside the NY area then I found the numbers for Europe access and US code and tried one of the numbers and it worked! Woohoo! But what one would I ring for tickets?! hmmm suppose it doesn't matter too much from here?!
I just checked John's website, think it's been updated again but no LI yet.:cuser:
