Maureen is our featured student this week. She is currently enrolled in the Transits class.

I invite any and all students to come on down to the astrology corner and astro analyze to your hearts content. Come one, come all, and contribute a few sentences of interpretation for your fellow astrology student.

    Just thought I’d take a stab at Maureen’s chart…

For some reason, the first things that stood out to me were Maureen’s 3 intercepted planets….the Sun and Venus in Leo (conjunct in 10th) and Saturn in Aquarius (Retrograde in 4th/opposed Sun-Venus conjunction). I’m not even sure what it all means yet, and already I’m saying “Wow!” ;)
From what I understand about interceptions, I believe them to be areas of life that you have to come to understand on your own, because those around you are unable to help you understand them for one reason or another. Because of this, the planets and signs intercepted in your chart are highly individualized areas of your life, and probably vary pretty greatly from the mainstream. You may also feel that people don’t understand you in these areas, so you try to keep them hidden.

What’s really interesting about Maureen’s interceptions (well, one of the interesting things) is the Leo/Virgo conundrum that Maria has talked about on several occassions. If you put Maureen’s Leo Sun in someone else’s birthchart, I’d guess that 9 times out of 10 that person would be a gregarious, lively, king or queen of a person who basks in the glow of his or her warm Sun. (Nothing wrong with that, Leos :D ). However, Maureen’s chart gives me a different picture. Not only is her bright, jovial Leo Sun intercepted…..which in and of itself indicates she shys away from the limelight, possibly hiding her true self….but she has 4 very noticeable planets in an 11th house Virgo Stellium. Her Leo “need to shine” is drastically kept under wraps by both the interception and the Virgo need to “serve and be humble.” Take into account that one of the 4 planets is her other luminary, her Moon, which rules her 10th house where her intercepted Sun resides and I’d say Maureen is a very modest woman. I can imagine her as a very capable person at any profession she undertakes, with the ability to outdo most others just based on her firey Leo Sun alone. However, she may not take credit for all that she does or has done, especially on the job, which is where she undoubtedly shines the brightest.

I’m sure there’s much much more to say just about Maureen’s Sun alone….anyone else see this? I’d love to talk about how her Venus and Saturn tie into this….any other thoughts? I’m sleepy now…lol.

Crystal you made some very insightful points and provided a wonderful analysis here! Thank you. :D

Interceptions are thought to be karmic in nature and tonight my Karma class is going to dig into them using that perspective. There are two schools of thoughts about interceptions – the first is that they actually don’t mean a thing because they are really based out of a man made house system. Depending on the geographical location of birth – some in the far northern latitudes for example, it is not uncommon to have more than 2 signs intercepted in a single house! And so there are some astrologers who think an interception means nothing.

    I humbly disagree.

In my opinion, since we choose our birth times, we choose whether or not to have these interceptions.

I tend to agree with the other school of thought which says that interceptions are karmic in nature, and represent a field of energy that needs to be integrated properly in life due to a possible misuse in other lifetimes.

This opinion comes from my personal experience with interceptions as well as my client files and other charts I have studied.

As astrologers, we will never agree on everything. It’s part of our Uranian nature I suppose. And of course I cannot say my way is the only way. After having studied enough charts with interceptions on your own, I am sure you will come to your own conclusions on the subject. ;)
