“Which area of my life most needs my attention, and how can I best work with the energy patterns that are present to gain better focus and balance?”

I used Medicine Cards: The Discovery of Power Through the Ways of Animals.
    I used a 5-card spread – The Medicine Wheel

    1) East Card: Lynx (reversed)

Lynx carries the medicine of secrets. It is just possible that something big is in the works, but that needs to be kept close to the chest for now. Lynx asks you to keep your secrets just now. At this juncture of your spiritual journey Lynx is calling you to listen more than talk.

By listening, you can discern what your best bet in working through a situation will be. Meditation is a great tool for quieting the mind and allowing us to hear our inner selves. In doing so, we discover things and ideas which we have overlooked or forgotten. Getting out in nature and rediscovering just ‘being’ is also a good way to listen.

It appears that you may be clairaudient or perhaps clairvoyant. Now is a time to tune into those abilities so that you can give the meaningful goal you have set the greatest opportunity to be met with the best result. One caution Lynx always has is to be careful of someone who would deceive you or try to undermine you.

    2) South Card: Dolphin (reversed)

Dolphin’s medicine is manna. Manna is the energy that sustains life, dreams, possibilities. Here in the reverse position Dolphin wants you to breathe. Relax into your world; slow down. The stress that you are undergoing is not working to your advantage. Deep breathing exercises along with your meditation can free many of the blockages of energy that you are feeling recently. As you breathe in and out slowly notice the changes in your mind, body and spirit. Each breath can begin to dispel the fatigue and lethargy so that you can once again be open to messages from Spirit which have sustained you in the past. How does it make you feel?

Take some time to play. Like Lynx, she is asking you to get outdoors and have fun. Listen to music that uplifts you – that makes you want to jump up out of the water and ‘sing’ to the world.

I sense a conflict, likely in the work area that has you tied up a bit. Try to step back from that situation and see others and yourself from a distance. How are you playing into the conflict? Can you project healing, positive energy into the situation so that communication can be opened up again? Communication definitely seems to be an issue. To effectively communicate, Dolphin tells us that we must listen honestly and lovingly before we speak or respond.

Terry or Terri comes to mind.

    3) West Card: Salmon (reversed)

Salmon is wisdom/inner knowing. Your goal will only be reached if you are careful and diligent in its pursuit. Now is not a good time to be sloppy or inattentive and then fault someone else for thwarting it. Once again, be still and ‘listen’ to your inner knowing is being called for. What is causing you to lose focus or be bewildered? In the silence imagine the situation righting itself. Project your energy into a balanced outcome. Use positive affirmation in ‘feeling’ and ‘action’ as well as in word.

Right now I have a sense of you taking a deep breath and relaxing – allowing yourself to let go of all of the tension that has built up – letting go of the hundreds of little pieces you really have no control of. You have surrendered to stillness. I feel relief for you. You can see where you really need to be and that you don’t need the approval of others really – your inner knowing is sufficient for you to move forward into your journey regardless of what others say.

I had a flash of the scene from Dancing With Wolves where the Lieutenant (Kevin Costner) is standing on the hill looking down over the Native American village viewing the purpose and harmony. He has that aha moment of understanding who he is and the peacefulness he feels in that. He realizes he is more than his uniform, more than rules artificially set for him, more than all the past injustices. He realizes who he is right then, that he can make choices, and what he wants as he moves forward.

Like Dolphin, Salmon calls you back to music that inspires and nurtures all the positive energy within you. Whatever your goal it will be reached in spite of challenges. Trust your inner knowing. You are at a new beginning and there will be abundance enough for you and others.

    4) North Card: Mouse

Mouse is scrutiny. When Mouse is around, we are asked to try to see the larger picture and not get caught up in the details and what can only be seen right in front of us. Take a good look at your situation, yourself, and all those you come in contact with. There is some caution here too. What may look good – like that bit of peanut butter might actually be a trap waiting to snap at you. So be cautious as Lynx indicated. However, do not be fearful – but be attentive so that you can respond appropriately when the time comes.

This applies to your inner wisdom too. There is much more than meets the eye. You have many talents and skills to draw from. Try not to overlook them or minimize them.

Mouse is telling you the same message Salmon had – there is plenty, you just need to be cautious so you don’t lose it. It may even be time to let go of something that just no longer fits you.

    5) Sacred Mountain: Swan (reversed)

Swan is grace. A theme running through these cards is to know and accept yourself and your abilities. Swan asks you to stay grounded and focused. She also calls you to nature – to reclaim that touch point where you can find the roots of your being. This may be through gardening, hiking, bird watching – some activity which allows you to observe and yet participate in active listening and stillness of soul.

Another aspect several of these cards have in common and which Swan is drawing together is to pay attention to your physical body. It is very likely that stress, tension, and poor eating habits are running you down. Giving your body the tools it needs to stay healthy and balanced are essential at this time.

Observe, glide along, and go with the flow. Spirit will see to it that things will work out in their own time. By balancing yourself you can help facilitate the flow of your journey with Spirit.

    The story:

Paula Mae, it seems that you are at a crossroads of sorts. There is a situation that is causing you some discomfort and perhaps even chipping away at your confidence. These cards all tell me that you can change the whole dynamic by shifting your energies into positive thought and action patterns. Your goal will be reached successfully and you will recognize that you had the power and knowledge within you all the time. Abundance of many things is on the horizon.

Take care of your physical body. Listen, listen, listen. Trust your inner wisdom. Trust Spirit. Don’t sweat the small stuff.

Thank you for allowing me to consider your question. I wish you clarity and abundant energy as you move forward.

    Blessings on your journey.

Lynx carries the medicine of secrets. It is just possible that something big is in the works, but that needs to be kept close to the chest for now. Lynx asks you to keep your secrets just now. At this juncture of your spiritual journey Lynx is calling you to listen more than talk.

I have to say that secrets seem to be a strong force in my life right now. Both personally and professionally.

I have had trouble trying to meditate. I think to much at one point and then just fall asleep at the other. I do however enjoy going outside and sitting on my deck. I overlook a small pond and wetland area with lots of living creatures with lots to say. In fact I have the door open and can hear all the birds as I write this and I find it rather soothing. I have been trying to just “be” of late, and its much easier said than done.

It appears that you may be clairaudient or perhaps clairvoyant. Now is a time to tune into those abilities so that you can give the meaningful goal you have set the greatest opportunity to be met with the best result. One caution Lynx always has is to be careful of someone who would deceive you or try to undermine you.

I will work on being more observant, and listen to what may be coming to me that I miss. I do know that for the goals I have I must be cautious. I know of a few that would enjoy undermining my work.

    2) South Card: Dolphin (reversed)

Dolphin’s medicine is manna. Manna is the energy that sustains life, dreams, possibilities. Here in the reverse position Dolphin wants you to breathe. Relax into your world; slow down. Each breath can begin to dispel the fatigue and lethargy so that you can once again be open to messages from Spirit which have sustained you in the past. How does it make you feel?

Another card that really hits home. I know I need to relax and just breath… it seems that I can’t do it right now. I know that the stress is negatively affecting my health. I am working on a plan now to help heal me mind, body and spirit, but that is a work in progress and at this moment I feel out of control. I keep telling myself to take in a deep breath…relax, relax. It does help just not enough right now.

Take some time to play. Like Lynx, she is asking you to get outdoors and have fun. Listen to music that uplifts you – that makes you want to jump up out of the water and ‘sing’ to the world.

My mantra of late has been to have fun everyday. Even if its just a little thing.

I would say I have had some major conflicts at work. We are in a brand new job area and everyone is having difficulties and its a stressful time all around. One person especially has been difficult to deal with for me. She is extremely negative, sits close to me and we share the same breaks/lunch. At one point I told her that if she didn’t stop with the constant whining and negative attitude I would no longer speak to her. Pretty much everyone else has stopped talking to her including friends she has had for a few years. I have been playing into the conflict because it just drives me nuts, but I have been working on redirecting her every time she starts whining. I have been doing my best to help her see the positive side of things and it is finally starting to seep in.

Terry or Terri comes to mind.

The name means nothing to me at this time.

Once again listen. I guess that’s a sign. I do have a few important goals that I am working on. I am trying to decide if I should reschedule my work hours to see if it will help me with “fitting” in the spiritual time that I need. I also have posted multiple affirmations around my desk at work so I can read them and take a moment to really feel them.

I would have to say that just being able to “let go” it very hard for me. I know I need to, and I am slowly being able to open myself up to removing old wounds that have been keeping me from becoming the person I want to be, in mind, body and spirit. I have always been a worrier, and I know that I just need to let go and let God take care of details that I have no control over. I do know what I want, and I am moving in the right direction just not fast enough for me LOL.

I can totally understand this. I feel like I am at a place where I am just beginning to really see myself as I truly am. That I am in charge of what I want in life and that I can control and change my life for the better.

Like Dolphin, Salmon calls you back to music that inspires and nurtures all the positive energy within you. Whatever your goal it will be reached in spite of challenges. Trust your inner knowing. You are at a new beginning and there will be abundance enough for you and others.

I do love music of all kinds that’s for sure. I do have a specific song I like to listen to daily to really make myself feel good. I do know I will reach my goal it’s the getting there that’s the problem! I am at a new beginning and it feels good.

Finally a card that’s not reversed! I do believe this is an issue, I try to see the larger picture to figure out where to go but I seem to get bogged down in a couple of details. I will keep my eyes open and watch that I am making an educated decision before I make a move forward.

This applies to your inner wisdom too. There is much more than meets the eye. You have many talents and skills to draw from. Try not to overlook them or minimize them.

This is a hard one for me. I know I do have many “gut” feelings and I try to listen to them. I just feel like I am missing so many things. I guess it goes back to the beginning and “Listen”.

Mouse is telling you the same message Salmon had – there is plenty, you just need to be cautious so you don’t lose it. It may even be time to let go of something that just no longer fits you.

I do need to be more cautious and think things through. As far as letting go, there is a lot that no longer fits me and I am working on removing it from my life.

Well this is truly a big one for me. I am working toward a more spiritual and balanced self. Truly knowing myself and why I am here is a big thing for me now, it’s a need that has to be filled. I do say that I recently moved to a place where I am closer to nature, and I love it. I have about 6 pots of flowers sitting on my deck as well. I do feel a real pull to be close to nature, to be able to touch it , listen to it and just feel the energy of it. I am listening to all the birds right now with the windows being open.

Another aspect several of these cards have in common and which Swan is drawing together is to pay attention to your physical body. It is very likely that stress, tension, and poor eating habits are running you down. Giving your body the tools it needs to stay healthy and balanced are essential at this time.

Ah, yes, the physical body has quite a few issues right now. Basically due to stress, tension and poor eating habits. I am currently working with my physician, and other health care providers to deal with the stress, nutrition and exercise needs in order to balance myself out to be healthy. I am so tired I can hardly stand myself LOL.

Observe, glide along, and go with the flow. Spirit will see to it that things will work out in their own time. By balancing yourself you can help facilitate the flow of your journey with Spirit.

This is the plan for sure. Balance is something that I need in my life and I will have it.

Thank you for the feedback. Don’t worry about all the ‘reversed’ cards. They only show that they are the ones that need to have their ‘medicines’ turned around. There is no negativity in them – it shows that these are weak areas and the animal spirits can guide you.

When you need to relax or listen better, call on Dolphin to assist you. Imagine her swimming and playing. Observe her surroundings as if you were with her. What is she afraid of? What is she doing? What is she eating? Is she alone? Is she a parent ? Put yourself right int he water with her. She will give you the messages you need to hear. Falling asleep is ok too – meditation has the goal of relaxation and quiet so that you can receive messages. Dreams are one way to do that, so not to worry. :)

Using the same visualization technique, call on the others shown in yoru reading. When you are around gossip or folks you can’t seem to trust, call on Lynx. When you doubt yourself, call on Salmon and Mouse to help you turn around and see the way back to balance. Swan will be with you throughout, so you can count on her input at all levels especially in your endeavor to balance your physical needs with spritual needs. We all need a little grace!

Whenever you see one of these animals in an odd place or in fairly quick repetition, pay attention and apply the medicine that particular animal carries. (These may be physical sightings of the animal, in dreams, knick knacks, pictues, TV, signs – but they should make themselves known when you least expect it.)

I am glad these animals could speak to you. They will help you move to happy more comfortable times.

    Bright Blessings
