    Ellen, thanks for your insights.

A chart that follows the natural zodiac will have Aries rising. What this tends to do is make the houses even stronger with their energy.

There are 2 other charts in the student data bank you can study if you’d like with Aries rising, me and Gail. :D

It really throws you off when you know little about astrology and your Astrologers Cheat Sheet chart looks just like your own chart. I became totally confused in Maria’s beginner class when people had their ascending houses located all over the chart.

It was a nice learning experience.

I love astro.com’s description of the 9th house, especially as it relates to JH.

The ninth house describes our spiritual leaning, life philosophy and our world view. In fact, these are often influenced by journeys to foreign countries. The attitudes cultivated and formed in this house can greatly influence matters of the 10th.

JH went to study mediumship in England; this journey, which he spoke of frequently definitely influenced his spiritual leaning, life philosophy and world view. And although his 10th house is without planets, the cusp of the 10th house of career is the workhorse (or workgoat if you prefer;) ) of the universe, Capricorn. As an Earth sign, you can begin to see why JH’s cleaning of toilets is really a part of his mediumship work. He grounds himself (Capricorn is an Earth sign) by cleaning his toilet, therefore enhancing/cleansing/dignifying his spiritual work. He works hard to stay grounded because his work requires grounding. It’s too easy for those doing spiritual work to be “out there” so much that they forget to stay here, on earth, in the real world. Capricorn’s energy on the cusp of his 10th gives him that opportunity, which he puts to good effect.

    More later.

 cool! Glad I did some “homework” before reading Maria’s Post! You can tell she can’t WAIT til Friday!! ;)

Ok, people remember I just finished aspects so take it easy on critique of my analysis!! But please correct any errors!!

The natural Natal chart, Stellium in 9th and the sun/moon opposition and T-Square were all things that jumped out right away.

WOW, the Aries point is new info and just makes John a more incredible person in my eyes! Such deep respect for him BEFORE I looked at his chart, now all I can say is WOW!;)

Sun (identity/self), Mars (energy) and Venus (social expression) in Sagittarius (I believe) in 9th house (faith, higher mind, philosophy). All enhanced by fact Sagittarius is the natural ruler of this house as well!
Aries rising indicates self assurance and determination. Our text states these people “prove themselves to themselves”. Part of this stellium is also a 4th planet – Mercury in Capricorn conjunct the Sun (and corresponding stellium including Mars and Venus) in 9th house with approx 2.5 degree orb! This grounds the stellium keeping John earthbound while he explores the higher mind. The Aries Point (thanks Maria!) shows that the Mercury and Sun conjunct {within the prescribed definition of <2.5 degree orb to zero degrees of a cardinal sign- in John's chart Capricorn} make John able to project himself publicly in both the spiritual and still be grounded. As we will see later in the analysis, this also ties in nicely to teaching abilities! (AHHHH....so THAT's what it was in Chicago!!)

Sun in Sagitarrius in 9th house opposed to Moon in Gemini in 3rd house (communication, siblings, short journeys). First things first, Moon in Gemini – relates to John rationalizing his emotions. In the 3rd house of service/siblings this would make John a people person involved emotionally in friends and family. He would have a strong curiousity and tire easily from routines. Moon oppossed Sun – Since the moon can represent relationships with females and opposes his self (sun in 9th) he may have difficulty with females in his life. Another more likely possibility is conflict between the unconscious mind (moon) and conscious mind (sun). This conflict if negatively expressed can take a toll on his own health.

Pluto T-square Venus (9 degree orb) and Moon (2 degree orb). Pluto is in Virgo in 6th house of service health and work. Venus square Pluto would be intense emotional or sexual involvement. Relationships must be worked out to overcome this aspect but society or desire for financial security can interfere with John’s personal happiness. Since Pluto is in Virgo a mutable earth sign, the perfectionist side in a partner could cause some emotional wounds for John. Moon square Pluto represensts an intense psychic field, clairvoyance and no interest in material things unless they are unique in some way. Women may be uncomfortable around John. John does not initiate new ideas but tends to work with the tried and true methods which is consistent with a mutable sign.(virgo). The T-square of Pluto to Venus and the moon puts focus to balance Venus (harmony/Love) with Moon (feelings) to allow transformation in service and work (6th house Pluto). The Focus is on the Pluto in Virgo from this T-square which is to deepen(Pluto) the details (Virgo) while balancing the emotion and Love in doing his work.(6th house)

Also, in reference to relationships, John has an unfavorable square aspect. Neptune(imagination) in Virgo(serving and detail-oriented) in 7th (relationships) Square Jupiter(expansion) in Aquarius (humanitarian, revolutionary) in 9th (adventure/travel, philosophy). With the above relationship issues, John may have difficulty with his personal relationships and family . The idealism (Neptune) expressed in Virgo (perfectionist) make John’s personal relationships a challenge as he may live in the picture of what the dream is and not in the reality of the real relationship. (expansion of Jupiter in the abstract of Aquarius). This square may make him a little bit too emotional over this fact. The lack of patience or boredom with the mundane (moon in Gemini in 3rd) would also put a strain on close relationships. This aspects also indicates he would enjoy exotic travel and below you will see he fits in with all kinds/races of people!

Uranus (change) in Virgo (perfectionist) in 6th also shows his career path to be of high moral character especially when interpreted with the whole chart containing the stellium in the 9th house!

Jupiter (vision, optimism, generosity) in Aquarius (inventive, humanitarian) in 11th (friends, group, future) makes John a very open minded person accepting all walks of people. Jupiter in Aquarius also means an interest in metaphysical topics. In the 11th house and with such generosity and acceptance of others, he is inspiring others. when read with his 9th house mercury, this makes John a phenomenal teacher in spiritual areas! (like we didn’t know that already!)
Jupiter also squares his ascendent Aries so this means he must make his own ego get out of the way to overcome this aspect!
Chiron in Gemini represents his own self distrust and is healed by Wisdom. Not so oddly, Chiron is in the 12th house of Karma or limitations. So he also must overcome self doubt as a major life lesson (which based on his biography he may have achieved!).

Saturn (tradition, limits, organization, prudence and authorities) in Capricorn (practical, ambitious) in 11th (friends, groups, goals). Good practical organizer who knows you only reap what you sow. He knows you have to work to get rewards and expects this from others.

Sun (Self, leadership, creative) and Mercury (expression, perception, communication) and Mars (energy) Trine Uranus (originality, inventiveness) in Virgo (examining) in 6th (work) is a favorable aspect. This aspect will attract people to him like a magnet, he will have spiritual insight, leadership capability and be creative. Sun Trine Uranus means he has ability to tap the universal consciousness and as Maria pointed out, the Perception (mercury) with a trine to Uranus allows him to perform mediumistic services! Mercury and Mars allow him to communicate and act (respectively) to tap that consciousness.

Last but not least, John has 5 fire, 4 Earth, 2 Air and 1 Water. The almost lack of water is balanced in his life by being psychically in tune with the higher consciousness. The Fire and Earth are almost balanced which make John not only passionate and courageous but practical and down to earth. The Air in is chart is also a little low but his chart shows that he will find the social and intellectual balance in his life’s expression (teaching, leading). He has 6 Mutable, 3 fixed and 3 cardinal signs indicating that while he may start or continue some things (cardinal and fixed respectively) John is more about being adaptable. A good quality for a psychic!!

Ok, I don’t think I have every little thing….but its gotta be close!!
WHEW! That was ALOT….what an incredible person and chart!!

    Thanks John for sharing!!
 Thanks Maria for teaching so well…by example. John’s chart is amazing and brings it all to life after having felt his energy in Chicago and seeing it confirmed in his chart!!:hearts:

BRAVISSIMO!!! I’m so glad that someone caught all the 9th house, Sagittarian reference and how it played out in John’s reality as long distance travel. Great job Carolyn!!!

In his book (which I’m actually happy I’m reading now because it serves to further “prove” his birth chart to me) he also talks about moving to L.A. for a few years, then how what was supposed to be a 6 week trip to the U.K turned into 2 years (only a Saggitarian personality would be able to embrace such a massive life change so easily!) and then he moved back to Boston for a few years and then settled into New Hampshire where he lives near water. Now, it’s easy to see from his chart that a big move is in store for him again in the near future – as well as a BIG career transformation!!! VERY BIG!!!

Transits students, can you grab this one and offer your thoughts before my big “reveal” this Friday?

Pam, darling, you’re talking about a woman with Aries rising, Sun and Mercury in the 1st house and the ruler of my Sun – Venus – in Aries. Do you think patience is one of my virtues??? ;)

Ok, people remember I just finished aspects so take it easy on critique of my analysis!! But please correct any errors!!

You did an amazing job Pam! I WISH I had a transits class to put you in next month because man are you ready for it! Keep studying those charts lady! There was only one error I found – comments below:

The natural Natal chart, Stellium in 9th and the sun/moon opposition and T-Square were all things that jumped out right away.

WOW, the Aries point is new info and just makes John a more incredible person in my eyes! Such deep respect for him BEFORE I looked at his chart, now all I can say is WOW!;)

WOW is right. Dawn, if you read this – planets at the Aries point, or AP are also a “profile of prominence”.

Excellent point Pam – with Aries, the higher manifestation of the Arian qualities is competing with the self rather than others. Look for the Aries who is always competing with someone else instead of trying to beat his own record and you see an aries that has a bit more work to do. John would be a higher evolved Aries rising.

Excellent! This has me VERY excited. :D

Okay, although this is tempting, I personally can’t give him a Sun-Moon opposition. The orb is stretching it even though it’s part of a connecting stellium of Sagittarius planets that make you want to stretch it. My mental “stop sign” went up here and I would not personally include this, I WOULD say he has Moon opposite Venus however and much can be said from that. Now, he does have difficulty with female relationships in his life and you tuned into this, but it’s found in abundance elsewhere in the chart (look at the T- square).

I actually think it’s more the other way around. John may be uncomfortable around women. He may fear someone having emotional control over him (Moon-Pluto) and as a defense mechanism, put up that guard or, more to the Sagittarian nature, run away when things get to intense. More thoughts on this, anyone?John does not initiate new ideas but tends to work with the tried and true methods which is consistent with a mutable sign.(virgo).

    Excellent!

Very nice! I would like to hear someone’s interpretation of Jupiter square Neptune when the energy is used in a more evolved way. Any takers? It’s a BIG DEAL for John.

Jupiter is actually making a sextile to his Ascendant. Re check your aspect and let me know if you see this, ok?

Chiron in Gemini represents his own self distrust and is healed by Wisdom. Not so oddly, Chiron is in the 12th house of Karma or limitations. So he also must overcome self doubt as a major life lesson (which based on his biography he may have achieved!). I didn’t print out Chiron on my chart for him, but how can it be in the 12th house if it’s in Gemini? He has Aries rising remember? So his 3rd house – and a little of his 2nd – has Gemini. Please recheck this.

AWESOME!!!

Ok, I don’t think I have every little thing….but its gotta be close!! Believe it or not, it’s only scratching the surface. That’s how deep and how much information we can get out of a birth chart! There is so much more we can talk about and we can get much more detailed than this. Isn’t astrology just the best tool ever? Ok, sorry, I’m biased. Didn’t mean to insult all you tarot people. ;)
WHEW! That was ALOT….what an incredible person and chart!!

 Thanks John for sharing!! I second that! It is a testament to his Sagittarian philosophy and extremely wise nature for him to share this with us and allow us to explore in such depth for learning. Ahhhh I’ve always loved Sagittarians. My good old Sagittarian Moon kicking in again.
 Thanks Maria for teaching so well…by example. John’s chart is amazing and brings it all to life after having felt his energy in Chicago and seeing it confirmed in his chart!!:hearts:

Very nice! I would like to hear someone’s interpretation of Jupiter square Neptune when the energy is used in a more evolved way. Any takers? It’s a BIG DEAL for John.

This is an aspect I was working on, so now I’ve taken a second look. But first, I think I’m confused, Pam said Neptune’s in Virgo, but it’s in Scorpio, though still in the 7th, isn’t it?

John’s Jupiter Square Neptune, gets some help from Pluto (Pluto Trine Neptune) and Pluto is in Virgo … a sign that lends its energy in the form of hard work, and being able to catergorize and prioritize. By using Pluto’s transforming nature and Virgo’s discriminating nature, John may be able to take those dreams (Neptune) unrealistically expanded (Jupiter) and figure out which is the most important and work (hard) on it first, and then the second and so on. I’m not saying it won’t be hard work (Virgo demands it) but Virgo also gives the focus for it and Pluto gives the transformational ability to take Neptune’s dreams and Jupiter’s expansion and bring them down to Earth (Virgo again!). Because Jupiter is in Aquarius, John’s dreams take on a humanitarian focus and it would be easy to try to solve all the world’s problems at once (Neptune’s dreams/imagination) through mystical (Neptune) means. Instead, concentrated effort (aided by the fact that Neptune and Jupiter are both in fixed signs) to pick a dream (transforming Pluto, discriminating Virgo) and stick to it (hard work Virgo) make anything possible. This whole configuration is further aided by the Moon’s trine to Jupiter which gives John a good sense of timing (Moon) … knowing when to work on the dream and when to rest. Both the Moon (in Gemini) and Pluto are in mutable signs, thereby able to keep the fixed Jupiter and fixed Neptune from becoming entrenched.

With Neptune in the 7th house, John’s partnerships can be manifested through music and the arts, spirituality and a devotion to a higher power can be central themes; he can also use the Neptunian energy for healing. His best partnerships will be soulmates. Jupiter’s 11th house theme brings in fortunate friendships, and acquaintances with people in positions of power, with the square, it means John will need to be discriminating about those friendships and acquaintanceships, but within them, no doubt a special partnership can be formed.

Hi, Pam:wave: I noticed you talked about John Holland’s Chiron. I think that this asteroid placement is very important in tying the whole chart together ….but his Chiron is in Pisces! Ruled by Neptune and in the 12th H . The seat of the soul! His wound is of a psychic nature and although he may never heal this wound he heals others through his psychic abilities.:handofgod Just beautiful.
