My 16 year old son brought home a reading assignment from school about 2 weeks ago. He was supposed to read the book “Twilight” by Stephenie Meyer for the assignment…and he finished it in one night. Though he enjoys reading this is very out of character for him, and even with it apparently being geared toward teen readers, I felt compelled to check it out. I was hooked…devoured the book in one night, and between us both we finished the entire 4 book series within a week’s time. His English teacher laughed…she hears that a lot.
Basically, the premise of the book is a love story involving Bella, a human girl, and her vampire boyfriend, Edward. It is smartly written and the author really makes the plot believable…and very addictive :o There is a movie coming out based on the book in November.
Has anyone read it? Without giving away any spoilers, what did you think? I’d love to hear other’s comments.

I broke down today and bought Twilight and the sequel. I’ll get to the others probably next week. Don’t spoil it for me, but I’m thoroughly enjoying what I’ve read so far!!! This is definitely a series not only for young adults, but for us older adults as well!!! Read them, you won’t be sorry!
October 25, 2008 at 3:38 pm #122684JeannieParticipantI was on another type of forum a couple months ago and a group of women were talking about it. At first I could not understand what they were talking about – so I googled it. I haven’t read it yet myself, but it does sound good. I will have to pick it up the next time I hit the bookstore.:reader:
October 27, 2008 at 7:07 am #122692StephanieParticipantJust wanted to jump in here again and say, holy cow. Each book is over 500 pages and I just read two of them in the span of 18.5 hours….
I’m going to Borders alot sooner than I thought, I gotta pick up Eclipse and Breaking Dawn now. ;) And, I still have one more day off before I have to go back to work. Anyone betting I’m going to kill another book? :P

I know what you mean…and somehow the plot just keeps getting better. I haven’t jumped into a fiction book like that in a long time. Thoroughly enjoyed ’em all
November 6, 2008 at 10:52 pm #122757PBPanParticipantYa, I have to say I was also immediately hooked. I dance with teenagers and it’s all they could talk about this summer, so I had to see what all the fuss was and within a very short time span had read them all. :reader:
I am looking forward to the movies coming out in a few weeks!
November 9, 2008 at 12:16 am #122762JeannieParticipantLOL – I just finished Twilight and am about to make the mad dash to Ft Worth (about a 30 minute drive) to get the second one. :D:reader:Haven’t got any house cleaning done today. Probably won’t tomorrow either ;)hehehe
November 10, 2008 at 1:08 pm #122763JeannieParticipantOK…. so I read the second book, New Moon yesterday. Actually I finished it sometime before the sun came up this morning. I should have just bought the box set.
November 15, 2008 at 10:01 pm #109187StephanieParticipantHa, I told you so. I knew you’d get sucked in… :hearts:
If you’re interested, the new movie comes out I believe real soon…like in the next couple of days. You could check that out as well.
November 16, 2008 at 12:44 am #109124Pam BKeymasterWow! I keep hearing about this series….where can I find the list of books, in sequential order of the story?
I just saw a movie poster for it yesterday, looks good!
November 16, 2008 at 5:23 am #109126JudeParticipantI recently purchased the first two in the series, but haven’t started reading yet. Can’t wait!
Amazon has the title information and synopses , as well, but these are the titles:
Book 1 – Twilight
Book 2 – New Moon
Book 3 – Eclipse
Book 4 – Breaking Dawn
It looks like Books 3 & 4 are only available in hardcover, at this time.
November 16, 2008 at 1:22 pm #109127GailParticipantI bought the four volume set at Amazon. Finished the first one and just started the second. They will be passed on to my daughter as I finish them. People of all ages seem to like them, even though they seem to be written for pre-teen to teenagers.
Might get almost as popular as the Harry Potter series was.
November 17, 2008 at 3:00 am #109131JeannieParticipantI finished the 4th book today. I read all 4 books (2444 pages) in 9 days.
I am always kind of sad when I finish a good book. It is like saying goodbye to old friends. (Gee that’s sounds sappy doesn’t it:redface3:)Ah well, back to the real world. :laff2:

Instead of waiting for like months on a waiting list at the library, I broke down and bought the last book at Wal-mart. They are usually reasonable on books and Breaking Dawn was $15 for hardcover. They had all 4 of them for sale.

(((Jeannie))) There, there…I know how you feel :tissue::laff:
The 4th book was my favorite…so cool how everything came together. But hey, she did kind of leave some room for a sequel there at the end, didn’t she? ;)
