For any yes / no question use the major arcana cards, the nine of cups and four aces. The aces are for timing, all others are for yes, no or can go either way. If the nine of cups comes up, it’s a resounding yes. Otherwsie use the list below as a guideline:

    YES

    Fool
    Magician
    Empress
    Emperor
    Chariot
    Justice
    Star
    Sun
    World
    Nine of Cups

    CAN GO EITHER WAY

    High Priestess
    Heirophant
    Wheel of Fortune
    Moon
    Lovers
    Judgement

    NO

    Strength
    Hanged Man
    Tower
    Death
    Temperance
    Devil
    Hermit

This layout is from the book “Power Tarot” by Trish MacGregor and Phyllis Vega. I hope you find it useful :)

OOPS! I forgot to explain the Aces and timing (blonde)!

    Wands = spring

    Cups – summer

    Pentacles – autumn

    Swords – winter

Great info, thanks! I read another post about card order so I am wondering here…does the book say anything about starting with the cards in the original order or just picking them up as they are?

I’m not quite sure what you mean zelda. I always shuffle the cards and was taught to do that. I lay all my cards out in a fan type motion, arching them. Then I mix them all up with a circular motion. After I feel they are mixed up enough, I pick them up and begin my spread.

I hope I answered your question, it’s late and I’m just not clear what exactly you mean.

PS I saw your first board reading; good job and thanks for helping the community!

Thanks for posting this Tammy…there are so many complicated spreads out there, this one seems easier to learn than most. I’ll put it to good use, I’m sure smile2.gif

    Tammy –

You did answer my question. I was just thinking that if you only pick one card is it more important to start with them in order (Major Arcana, Minor Arcana by suit..). I can’t wait to give it a try and the book sounds really interesting.
    Thanks!

I’m glad you like it :) It is a very simple spread and I felt it could really be helpful to those just starting out. I really can’t say enough about the book, I’m really impressed with all the information inside. I plan to post a few more simple spread so that others can try their hand at reading tarot. My first spread was the celtic cross and I don’t think I need to tell you all how daunting it was to try to figure out what all those cards meant.
