Hello and Welcome
Pam has asked me to start a thread here to try to help and answer questions you may have. What I can and cannot do for you if fairly basic.
I know a great deal about many different Native American cultures since I am Lenape and do a great deal of research for my books to make them as realistic as I can. I am not a medicine man, but do some healing when the conditions are right, my knowledge of native herbs and medicines is fairly limited, but I have resources to try to find what you may ask. I cannot discuss our prayers with you. Our prayers are meant for the Creator only and writing them down is not done. They are very private. I do have the ability to see the other side so to speak in that I do talk with my father that has crossed over about seven years ago. I am a bit unused to speaking about it outside the family but will help how I can. My Spirit Guide is a man I call Red Hair and he has been with me for forty years. He only speaks to me in Lenape, which I do not speak, but am learning, and is sometimes accompanied by his son who speaks English. The son tells me that his father is telling me I do not understand because I listen with my mind not my heart. Still working that issue. Making small amounts of headway now that I am learning Lenape. I had one period of almost ten years where I heard nothing from my spirit guide or my totem spirit. Now that I am back at embracing my native heritage, I see them more often. It is not unusual for me to go a year or more with no visits but they always come when I need them. I do not use medicinal herbs to help talk to my guide. Some tribes and Native religions use them, I do not and cannot tell you much about the whys and whatfores of the herbs. I am still a student, and will be even after I cross over I am sure. What I do not learn here, I will learn there and my lack of knowledge does not bother me. Except of course when I want to write about something and then I research the heck out of it. So that being said, I am here to help in any way I can. At least now you know what I have no clue about and what I will not discuss. Wanishi (thank you) for inviting me. Hi Jake! I just read your poem "Do Not Cry". It was simply BEAUTIFUL
![]() The part about dancing hit home to me. I was in Florida performing for a New Year's Eve Gala, and my grandma "Oma" was at home dying of cancer. I called the morning of Dec. 31 to check in on her, and my father said to me "Why don't you dance for Oma tonight? She passed away this morning." So I did...and she was with me ![]() In the link where I was (I think it was "authorsden.com") I only saw two poems...have you written more, or are those the only two? I look forward to reading more of your work

I have more,
Do Not Cry is from my CHAP book of Native American poetry, essays and short stories. The CHAP book is called "The Red Man In Me" I post on a few Poetry web sites now and then. I believe the other one on Author's Den is "If Buffalo Could Read" I have given "Do Not Cry" to many frlends who have had family members cross over. I have read it at a few of my local friend's funerals. I will try to locate it on my computer. I just had a new one built and have not copied everything over yet. I give my permission for any one to use it. All is ask is that I receive credit for writing it. Other than that It is open to the public. OK I found it. Do not cry for this warrior when I am gone I will be running in fields without fences I will be drinking water that is not polluted The strength that I lost here will be found The flesh and bone lost will return in spirit I will be young and strong again Do not cry for this warrior when I am gone I will be visiting our ancestors Knowledge lost will be found anew I will truly learn the ways of the old ones I will learn the language of our fathers I will help to prepare a hearth for you Do not cry for this warrior when I am gone I will be with our brothers, the winged Our brothers, the four legged and in the sea The Great Spirit will guide my steps My path will be true, I wait for you there Do not cry for this warrior when I am gone Remember me in laughter Remember me in the song of the flute Remember me in the beat of the drum Dance for me with all your heart Fore I will be dancing with you Look in your heart and I will be there Do not cry for this Warrior I am still here In your dreams, your heart and memory I will see you again Until then. Until then Copyright 2002 Jake George (Achgook) "The Red Man In Me" |
