From One Last Time
“……Everyone has the ability to receive these energies [those who have crossed over] to some degree. What I have is the ability to look at them with a different set of eyes, feel them with a different set of hands, and listen to them with a different set of ears than most people.
It is not a conversational language, though many believe it is. When I do a reading, people might think I’m repeating exactly what I’m hearing. But what I am actually doing is delivering and interpreting symbolic information as fast as I can keep up with it. If it were truly conversational, I would be a lot more accurate than I am. It’s just not that simple. Rather than just talking and listening, the tools of my trade are my psychic senses. Just as we use the five basic human senses — sight, sound, touch smell and taste — a medium uses the same basic senses, only psychically.
Here is a description of each of these senses:
Clairaudience (clear hearing) — I am able to hear sounds, including voices, that come from the spirits. Mostly, I hear my own voice — my mind’s voice — rather than the voice of the person whose spirit is coming through, though I have on occasion heard messages from a male, female, or even my mother’s voice. Imagine that while you are reading this you are also thinking about whether or not you left the oven on. That’s your mind’s voice. That’s how spirit messages sound to me.”
“….. Besides those of people, I have heard all kinds of names — of places, songs, movies. I also hear phrases. But the clarity varies wildly. Very few things come in loud and clear, as if they’ve been handed to me in lightening bolts on a tablet and I can just read it: This just in from the Other Side. Clairaudience means “clear hearing”, but in reality it is far from that.
With names, for instance, sometimes I get the whole thing, other times just an initial or a sound. Sometimes it’s analogous to a radio with very heavy static. You hear a voice, but it’s not clear and you try to catch a word here or there. Other times the messages are very faint, like a whisper, or come and go incredibly fast. You catch it for a split second as it rushes by, like a train. And still other times it’s like a voice that keeps breaking up. If a spirit were to try to give me the name James, I might just get the “J” sound or a “J-S” sound. “Ellen” might come through with the “L” sound strongest, or “L-N”. By experience, I would probably know that the spirit is not giving an “L” initial, indicating it’s a name that begins with that letter, but that it’s the dominant sound. So I would give that as Ellen or Ellie or some variation. ….. I might be off on the full name, but I virtually always get the initial or the sound. Over the years I’ve been able to turn up the volume, but that hasn’t made it any easier to understand the messages. If there was one thing I would ask the spirits, it would be to slow down and speak more clearly.”
Hope this helps. :DSeptember 30, 2001 at 2:47 am #71158RSLancastrParticipant
Thanks, yes that does make it clearer. I had heard JE explain it just as symbols, but it was during (I think) a Larry King interview, when there was no time for a leisurely answer.

When I first saw JE, my impression was that all the people who believed in him were these poor, deluded, non-thinking people who were grasping at anything to give them some hope.
i am new to to all of this so please bear with me…i am missing JE trying to figure out how to doQuote:. anyway, bob – i would like to know how you go from the the above point of view to coming to the web site and becoming what appears to be to be a big part of the community? i mean this question in all sincerity, i think it’s amazing! if i thought like that, it would never have occured to me to look up the web site. sort of like looking up a televangelist-not in my lifetime! i hope this question is appropriate – i am so confused about threads, and rules and little faces and i don’t even want to think about all the pretty pictures and quotes etc…oh! p.s. i think you are very funny and i like listening to your ideas!October 26, 2001 at 8:00 am #72200RSLancastrParticipantQuote:i would like to know how you go from the the above point of view to coming to the web site and becoming what appears to be to be a big part of the community?
Weird, isn’t it?
For an explanation of why I came here in the first place, read through this thread.
I enjoy respectful discussions with people who have beliefs very different from my own. I think both parties benefit from it!Quote:i hope this question is appropriate – i am so confused about threads, and rules and little faces and i don’t even want to think about all the pretty pictures and quotes etc…oh! p.s. i think you are very funny and i like listening to your ideas!
THe question is fine, although a bit off-topic for this thread. Perhaps some day I should put together a “Why the heck I’m here” post. You’re not the first person to ask! And thanks for the kind words about my sense of humor. Not everyone likes it, but I think most people have at least come to realize I mean no harm by it. It’s just my way!
Anyway, if the thread I’ve linked to above doesn’t answer your question, I’ll try again!
